My roommate and I recently decided to venture outside of our normal go to restaurants and try some new places and BK was the first new place we decided to try. I’m glad we kicked it off here. We had guacamole and chips; my roommate thought the guac was slightly lacking in flavor but I enjoyed it nonetheless. My roommate got three tacos(chicken, pork and carne asada) and she said they were all amazing. I got a carne asada taco as well as a Sonoran hot dog. I’m very satisfied. Delicious food aside, our server was very attentive(I think his name was Ivan) and the food came out extremely quick. Good prices and I LOVESALSABARS. We agreed to come back as soon as we left the place.

There’s a wait sometimes but besides the waiting, the food is on point! Super friendly staff as well. Come here almost every week and it never disappoints me. Recommend this place for anybody looking for a good authentic Mexican joint.

What’s going with this place? The michelada is amazing. It’s just perfect. But this place is weird… It’s a fast food restaurant with the most delicious michelada ever? The guacamole wasn’t even green… it was like pale lime color for $ 6 plus $ 3 for chips(yeah you have to pay for chips with guacamole) I’m annoyed that this place has the most overpriced guac ever and… A drive thru. Oh yeah if you couldn’t tell by the color it wasn’t good either. The Sonoran hot Dog, no way. It’s literally a 10 cent piece of «meat» with a bunch of stuff on it. Oh Yeah it tasted good with TWO grams of sodium. Better hot dog seriously… I’m sad because I just wanted a michelada… But this atmosphere and food really kills the desire and vibe for it.

everything was ONPOINT. I had the sonora dog which I absolutely loved. The mango marguerita was amazing and hit the spot perfectly. I also had the carne asada caramelos were a hit. Too bad I live in LA because I would go back for their food any day. I would have docked them a star just for their dumb hostess with her dumb attitude, but the food more than made up for it. The server we had was great though.

Man, I’ve waited too long in my life to finally eat at BK Tacos. I finally made the plunge and got two Sonora Dogs with the works. I went drive-thru and a sign lets you know to be patient, as they prepare and craft your meal. It did take a while, and boy was it worth it. Not sure what I can add to the other flowing reviews other than, yum. Soft buns, delicious dog, excellent toppings. Now that I have popped my BK cherry, I will be sure to return more often and sample the other yummy looking items on the menu. And at $ 2.99 a dog, it’s a steal!

By far one my favorite taco places! Michelada is put of this world! Great food! Great salsa bar! Only thing is parking can be tricky at peak hours … Worst case though they have a drive trough!!!

The food is pretty great. The Sonoran hotdog is definitely better than Guero’s, and the fact that they have tacos de cabeza makes me happy. Those would be my pros. For the cons: ordered an appetizer of guacamole. I get it, avocado’s value has gone up so prices reflect that. But if they are going to list it as an appetizer and charge more than a side would cost, you’d expect it to include chips, right? Wrong. You have to order those separately. So we’re talking $ 9 for chips and guacamole at an(almost) fast food joint. Service was pretty bad. Ordered said appetizer, and came out after we got our food and asked for it again. Had to order water twice as well to get it. In conclusion: the food is good, service is not so great and slow, and they should revise their pricing on certain items.

This place in any other city in America would be the kick butt Mexican food place. Awesome salsa bar, Sonoran style burros and hot dogs, etc, This food is good, and the salsa bar is one of the biggest I’ve ever seen, well stocked with many more extras than normal. The place is clean, the staff are nice, the price is fair, that being said, This is Tucson!!! One of, if not the best cities in America to get Mexican food!!! Not to be a jag, but the south side Taquerias have this food, cheaper, fresher, and without the ambience, this is a place to take your out of town family for a meal.

Looking for a greasy Mexican spot? Or like me and my homegirl, are you looking some big ass tacos at about 10pm on a Friday night? Look no further. I definitely dug the divey atmosphere with a menu full of your tex mex favorites along with hot dogs. Say what? Their salsa bar was large and had some odd toppings. It took me a hot second to comprehend why the hell a salsa bar had mustard and shredded cheese, but then it dawned on me… the Sonoran hot dog. This isn’t your average salsa bar, because it also happens to be a hot dog bar. I went for the al pastor and the chicken tacos and I’ve had better. They were large, but super greasy. The guac was extremely creamy, but definitely didn’t taste the freshest and it was that dark green hue that comes from maybe some of the avocados a little past their prime. It was also topped with like a parmesan style cheese which didn’t help. The sonoran hot dog? A few bites, but it was more bread than dog. Womp womp. The margarita? Sugary, but strong! Service was great, it was pretty cheap and definitely has a divey, locals scene. I think there’s probably better out there, but for some late night eats, not so shabby!

All I can say is WOW, IMHO there is a new king of Sonoran Dogs in Tucson. I stopped in on a recent visit after hearing many argue they were as good as El Guero, which has been my go-to since the Sonoran Hot Dog thing exploded in the Dirty. Let’s just say I was pretty impressed. While I still like El Guero, here’s why BK gets my vote: 1. They offer a cool mix of to-go(with a drive through) or full service with a full bar, which El Guero does not. I had THEBEST Michelada I’ve ever had there. Amazing. 2. Their«accoutrement» bar is more expansive, with grilled green onions, yellow chilis, and myriad other toppings. 3. They have a bunch of other good items on their menu. Their Carne Asada was amazing. I also had a quesadilla and one of their«Toritos», a ham and cheese stuffed, bacon-wrapped grilled pepper. Oh yes they did. I honestly can’t say their dogs were much different– Perhaps I’ll have to give them the Pepsi challenge back to back with El Guero’s, but they’re really, really good. As is the case with El Guero, the bun was perfectly soft and sweet, the beans deliciously sweet, and the bacon-wrapped dog perfectly grilled. Highly recommend this place.

So before getting to Tucson, I was told I had to try a Sonoran Style Hot Dog. BKs was not listed on many online«Top Tucson» lists, but I am sure glad I stopped here. Atmosphere — I cannot speak much to this as I Used the drive-thru. It can be said that it is cool that a sports bar type establishment has a drive-thru that you can pick up quality food to go. Because everything is made to order, it can take a minute of waiting, but that is not anything I would degrade this review based on. Carne Asada Taco — when you open up the packaging, my heart sank because I was unimpressed with what I looked at. Just a flour tortilla and steak. I was given sides of pico, green salsa, and a wonderful BK guacamole sauce that was incredible. When I loaded up my taco with pico and guacamole, this carne Asada taco unturned into one of the best tacos I’ve ever had. And that is saying something. Wonderfully seasoned meat, just bursting with flavor. A must try for the taco lover($ 2). Sonoran Hot Dog — This weird looking hot dog has the appearance of a hot dog playing hide-and-go-seek with with topping in the bun. First off, the bun was the perfect combination of soft and sweet. The hot dog is bacon wrapped and loaded with tomatoes and sauce. This was an absolute winner. I thought overall the hot dog was a little small, but was really tasty. Since this is my first Sonoran, I do not know how this compares but felt it was well worth the $ 2-$ 3 investment. I would definitely go back!

We were feeling hungry after a long day and decided to have dinner with family and friends at BK’s. We are seated promptly and our waitress took our drink and appetizer order. A short time later, our drinks and appetizers arrived. The drinks were great and the guac with chips was fantastic. Our waitress took our dinner order and we patiently waited for our food. The waitress checked on us frequently and kept us pretty hydrated. As time passed, we noticed that the restaurant was delivering food to tables that were seated after us and even sat new customers after those folks left and feed them too! We asked our waitress, what’s going on with our food? She replied, «hasn’t the manager been out to talk to you?» We said, «no» and our waitress said, «I will ask her again to come out and talk to you.» A short time later, a young lady came out and brought us complimentary guacamole and warm chips and said this is for waiting on the food. We waited a long time before we saw our waitress again. When she came by she asked if we had talked to the manager. After we stated we hadn’t, she proceeded to call the manager again and check on our food. When the manager arrived at our table, it was the same lady who brought the chips and guac! She was very unpleasant and never provided any explanation other than it was busy and the steaks were frozen when we ordered them. Okay… let me apologize for my party ordering the t-bone steaks and for me ordering the cabreria. We explained that no one ever mentioned a delay or asked if we wanted to change our order which we could have done hours ago. She pretty much just walked away like no big deal if you are not happy. At least lie to me and say you ran out of some main ingredient and had to run to the store. Bring out the food that is ready and feed the antsy children on the table. Very disappointed with how she handled the situation or I guess how she didn’t handle it. The food finally came out. I would like to give zero stars for the manager but food and micheladas were still great even though it took hours to arrive. BTW, the cabreria was fantastic. There was a time when i thought that Bk’s competitor was better than this restaurant but over the years the competition started sacrificing their quality and customer service. I hope that this isn’t happening to this restaurant.

Let me start by saying I have been eating at BKs for as long as I can remember, when they were just a cart on the Southside. I prefer this location because of the atmosphere and the micheladas. The food is always great but the last few times I’ve been there it has been a bad experience. After this last time I will not ever be returning. We took some friends there on a Sunday at around 4:30pm. It was busy but no wait. We sat outside where at the time there was only one other couple sitting there. Placed our orders fairly quick. Server was a bit distracted but no biggie. After almost 2 hours and being told a few times our food was on its way we asked what was going on. Our server stated the manager was on her way to explain. A young female brought us a free appetizer and stated it was for the long wait. We kept waiting for the manager and nothing. Once we saw the server again about 30min later she informed us the manager was the one who brought the appetizer. What?! She never said anything so we asked to speak to her. She returned with attitude said the steaks were frozen and they were on their way. She pretty much played the victim and was blaming us for ordering steak at a Carne asada restaurant, lol. She did give us a discount at the end but I really didn’t care about that part she should have explained what was going on about 2 hours earlier. Horrible manager and reason why I will not go back.

BK is one of my favorite all-around taco shops in town! There is never a doubt in my mind that I’ll get great carne asada tacos here. What I like best about BK’s is that all of their meat is cooked over a charcoal grill and has an excellent smokey flavor to it. All of the meats, the pollo, cabeza, and al pastor are wonderfully seasoned and smokey. BK’s also has one of the most extensive salsa bars I’ve seen around town. There are at least two avocado based salsas, as well as a variety of green and red salsas accompanied by various accouterments including limes, cheeses, and roasted peppers. I also enjoy Micheladas and BK’s offers one of the best Micheladas I’ve had this side of the border. Of course don’t miss the sonoran dogs but there are so many great options here. The restaurants definitely lives up to its namesake but charges a bit of premium for its reputation. Not necessarily a bad thing, the food here is really really good. BK’s is one of the best places in town to get some beer and tacos, as well as great sonoran dogs.

I’ve driven past here hundreds of times and never gone. Then one day we decided to hit it for dinner, and I was completely surprised in a good way! We’ve had several different kinds of tacos, and salads, which are awesome and not just your typical salad like everywhere else. I highly recommend the chicken one they do. The smoked flavor in the chicken is delicious and with the whole roasted green chile they put in that salad, it’s perfect. Tonight we came in for dinner and brought our extended family. Everyone was very surprised at the diversity of the menu, and the wonderful quality and authenticity in the food. One of these days when I’m carb-ing it up, I’m getting one of those killer tortas. They look amazing as does every item on the menu. This is one of our favorite leisurely diner places now.

After driving by this place for the last two years, we finally decided to try it. The parking lot was packed which is a good sign. At first we thought it was just a taco stand of some sort but walking in through the doors proved us way wrong! The place was pretty small but the way it’s set up made it cozy… I def has a southern bar feel to it but also pretty funky character… Im not sure how to explain it but I definitely like it. Plus they played awesome 90s music when we were there NSYNC and Britney Spears! Yaaaassss. We got 4 tacos carne asada and cabeza(cheek meat: not sure if pork or beef). We also got the snoran hotdog and a small pastor caramelo(quesadilla with pork meat). Everything was delicious! I love the flavor of the meat that they have… Yummy! But the down side are the sides… The veggies didn’t seem too fresh and some of the salsa that I tried were bland. But there was the delicious pickled onions yummy! Service was great! Our server Mario was super nice and helpful! Would come back again for sure!

We are not from Tucson, so maybe we have different standards. However, being from Vegas, we have our fair shares of authentic mexican food. With that said, we had the Sonoran dog with everything on it. It came with this chili pepper and it was so spicy! It hurt so good! That was our favorite thing. We also had the carne asada tacos and beef caramelo(quesadilla to me). The tacos and caramelo were a-ok. Nothing to really write home about. They have this salsa bar, and if you want chips, you have to pay extra for the chips. The chips were the thick kinds, not the usual corn chips so that was nice. The salsa bar wasn’t spectacular either. The salsa tasted watered down. The guacamole had cottage cheese as filler, so I didn’t think that was very honest… And it didn’t taste that good. I also had the tamarind margarita; it tasted great but I don’t think there was any alcohol in it; that was a bit annoying. All in all, only the Sonoran dog was good. We will probably come back for the dog and chili pepper but that’s about it.
