Who’s a dirty girl? WHO’S a dirty girl? That’s right, uh-huh. ME!!! Signed up with my team, The Dirt Skirts a couple of months ago for a discounted entry price fee with every intention of being a thinner version of myself so I could do this run. But life and laziness got in the way and too many fun Unilocal Elite events! Anyway, it didn’t matter because this fantastic, fun event is meant for EVERYONE! One of my teammates picked up our packets(a souvenir shirt, race bib, colored corn starch and a Luna Bar) the day before so we were ready when we arrived at the fairgrounds… as were the tons of other crazy, decked out participants. Lots of tutus, a team of Minions, a team with uteruses painted on their faces and even superheros. The run organizers were cheerful and enthusiastic and well organized! Participants took off in waves, the first being the D wave. D for DRAG!!! Plenty of fun games before each wave actually took off. There were lots of obstacles and plenty of celebrations along the way. Pretty quickly after we started out on the course we were hit with our first mud obstacle and it was so much fun. Obstacles included crawling through and over tubes and in to a mud pit, climbing a rope wall, climbing a small wooden pallet type wall, plenty more mud pits, pink color throw and at the end a tunnel of foam. As one exits the foam area, souvenir towels were handed out to wipe off with. The clean up area was much better than a previous event like this; plenty of hoses and lots of room to wash off with plenty of room to clean up. Bananas, Luna Bars and water were plentiful to replenish all the participants. Even better was the bar! Each participant got one free Bud Lite or Michelob Ultra. There was an area with food to purchase. Grandma Tony’s had pizza and burgers and there was a kettle corn truck as well. I think this would be an ideal location for a food truck roundup for all the hungry participants to take advantage of and enjoy some lunch. Kiss Me Dirty Mud Run is a great event that anyone of any fitness level can do. It’s non-competitive, un-timed and loads of fun. If you don’t feel like you can or want to do a particular obstacle, don’t! I’m coming back next year with an even bigger team!
