Good Mexican food for a reasonable price. Not as flavorful as other places I’ve eaten, but damn good.

La Fesita, how have I lived in Tucson this long and not stumbled upon you! Major props to fellow Unilocalers for turning me on to this little gem. As with most other reviewers I cannot recommend their tacos dorados enough. Not simply a crispy taco, these are gloriously golden, fresh fried tortillas stuffed full of well seasoned meat and fresh toppings. I was a little skeptical when I saw their small containers of rather liquidy salsa(especially since any additional ones were 25 cents!), but both their regular and verde sauces were the perfect additions to my tacos. Highly recommended to fork over the quarter to get some extra! I also was SO excited to see the large variety of agua fescas available. The pineapple was so fresh it must have been hand made(no from concentrate/prejuiced stuffed). I can’t wait to try the rest of their collection. The only downside was that I went to the drive-thru thinking it would be a quick in and out trip, but it wound up being 20 minutes before the two cars ahead of me got their orders. Well worth the wait, but something to keep in mind if you’re looking for a quick bite. The inside orders seemed to move faster. All in all, new favorite Mexican place in Tucson, I just wish they were closer to home!

Machaca, eggs, and cheese breakfast burrito under $ 4.00. Quick and hot thru drive thru. Not sure if I can finish. Very good!

Super nachos are great! Horchata is average, but service is great. There is also a drive through so you don’t have to get out of your car :)

Holy guacamole these guys make amazing burritos! I like to think I can judge a good burrito and these guys have definitely made my tummy happy. We stopped here the other night on the way to sentinel peak to watch the sunset, its right on saint marys so its a perfect pit stop. They even even have a drive thru so if you have your pooch with you like we did we didnt have to take turns going inside we could all just hit the drive thru. The menu is simple and we wanted easy picnic style food so an order of chips and guac was a must– very cool of them to drizzle the guac on top for easy scooping! And then of course we ordered our 2 staple burritos, carne asada and carnitas. Both came packed full of meet and served with a red sauce and a green sauce. The carne asada had a nice spice and a little smoky flavor, classic carne asada. The carnitas is my favorite meat of choice and this burrito was savory, a little sweet and when combined with the two sauces, it was a little spicy– aka perfect! This little joint in menlo park is now my go to stop for yummy Mexican food on the way to watch those classic tucson sunsets!

This little gem is great! The food is great, fresh and not expensive. The place is operated by motherly types that take pride in their business and it shows. Neat, tidy, friendly and great food… what more could you want?

Pretty much the best burritos in town. Our favorite is Carne asada… and kids love the bean burritos. We also get breakfast burritos with fresh squeezed orange juice. Prices are super cheap. Yes, it is a hole in the wall, but that’s how you know it’s authentic! Use the drive through…(Just don’t expect the microphone to work.) People are super nice. Family run business. We are regulars and love our la fresita!!!

This long time family run business is a step above the rest of the old burrito/taco shop options in Tucson. Quality akin to El Gorrion and Maico, all of the dishes we’ve ordered have been excellent, their salsa is great, they have brilliant jamaica, and their tacos are to die for. Also, a Mexican friend of mine(from Sinaloa) who happens to run a bike shop as well as a crossfit studio likes coming here, so that’s saying something!

I am not much of a fast food Mexican food eater but this place has a great fruit salad. When I say fruit I also mean granola whipped cream and lechera. I have not tried much of anything else but I do know that I will go back over and over again for the fruit salad.

Seriously! How delicious is this place. Super fresh food, handmade, I mean literally they make them by hand, fresh corn tortillas! Fresh juice. We had the carrot and the mango, pinneapple tropical juice. ridiculously fresh, not watered down juice. The carne asada tacos, super moist, premium meat perfectly grilled and actual Spanish rice, cooked the right way. The beans are authentic Spanish style. It is rumered these are the original owners of El Rio Bakery. Whoever they are, they are top in my book! Excellent fresh food at an affordable price! Eat and live well

Pretty good food! I had the crunchy tacos. Next time I’ll try an enchilada or something. The Horchata was amazing, but I’m never one to complain about Horchata.

Best fast food taco shop in town. Food was hot and fresh, salsa was spicy, and the customer service was great.

What a joke of a place. This place is filthy and in need of renovation. It’s drive in menu has scratch marks all over it and duct tape over old prices to put«new prices». Their intercom does not work yet they still continue to take your order and then AGAIN at the window. I ordered a burrito and side of rice/beans. When I asked for a side of jalapeños at the intercom, the guy agreed. When I got my food, I noticed the jalapenos were not there so I politely asked for them. He left and another employee came to the window, wth? She says jalapenos are 75 cents, points at the window sign(listing all the prices) and hands me a small TINY container. The window sign says absolutely nothing about jalapenos! Anyways.long story short. I did not buy the jalapenos for 75 cents. 75CENTSISNOTHING, however; the guy agreed to give them to me for free in their amazing intercom. For the benefit of customer service, they should have just gave me the damn jalapenos… but no — they really needed that 75 cents.

Famous place, top notch food. Here is a little secret: these guys can make an awesome vegan burrito. It has items like beans, potatoes, pico, guac, etc. Also, I love the cucumber water and apple empanadas.

Seems like just another 24-hour Mexican coronary bypass joint because of its unassuming look, but there is some fine traditional fare to be found and fairly priced. Nothing stellar but an easy meal under ten bucks and bachelor losers like me don’t make food as is.

Maybe I don’t understand how the Unilocal review thing works, but 4.5 stars indicates a near perfect dining experience to me. This place is good, and a lot better than most of the«fast» Mexican food joints around town, but not worthy of 4.5 Stars, IMO. An accurate rating for me would be 3.5 stars. We went in for dinner and I ordered a pretty basic combo plate. Everything was good, nothing was great; except for the taco. The beef dorado taco was the best thing I ate. Overall, it was fast and cheap, and the cashier/waitress was very nice, but given the location and«ambiance», the food would have to be out-of-this-world-good to earn 4 or more stars from me. Not knocking La Fresita at all, it’s a good hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint, but it’s not 4.5 stars.

So Mexican food… It deserves a whole new category in its own right! I mean it just works wonders every time you eat it(if it is well done of course!) Went here because some one recommended it saying it was the closest to real mexico city food we would have here, hmmm that is kind of complicated since the food in mexico city is just tear-jerkingly delicious, so I really had my hopes up for this place. I ordered the chilaquiles which are one of my absolute favorite dishes, and they of course were not as good as my mom’s but pretty decent. The breakfast platter is huge and apparently very popular, so why not try it.

La Fresita is an unimpressive little pile of a restaurant surrounded by similarly unimpressive little piles – the merely-adequate Las Cuatas, the dismally inadequate Viva Burrito Company, and an outpost of the Mexican chain Pollo Feliz. While all of these restaurants appear to have settled in dreary old fast food buildings, the visual similarities belie massive differences, namely: La Fresita is a gem. Though La Fresita appears to be fast food and their service is reasonably fast, their culinary chops are more refined than most of the established, sit-down Mexican restaurants in town. Their tortas are solid and nicely grilled – try the Cubano – but almost all of their offerings beat the average. Their thick, fluffy tortillas are made in-house and, even if you aren’t a fan of thick tortillas, you’ll have to begrudgingly admit that these are good. Naturally, good tortillas are the first step to good chilaquiles, a dish La Fresita does real justice to. They also serve some of the richest, most savory calabacitas I’ve had. But you can’t talk about La Fresita without dedicating a few lines to their licuados and aguas frescas. If their food stands above most, their fruit drinks slay those of every other Mexican restaurant in Tucson. If you’ve never had a licuado, you need to remedy that immediately: drive to La Fresita and get a melon or mango. It’ll be one of the best, lightest smoothies you’ve had. Alternately, their cucumber water is so phenomenally good it could probably cure more than a few terminal diseases. Many things about La Fresita are deceptive and their prices can be, too – there’s a lot that is extremely affordable on the menu, but they serve genuinely good food and some items cost more than you’d expect. This seems totally fair. Their service has always been good, if not particularly memorable.

This place is the real deal. Whoever is back in the kitchen really knows what they’re doing. They make everything, and everything is delicious and cooked fresh and from scratch. Some standouts are: — breakfast burritos(so good, big, and not at all greasy) — beef fajitas(unbelievable flavor, with thick, homemade corn tortillas) — horchata(homemade, and some of the best in town) — aguas frescas(also homemade, from real fruit – try fresa [strawberry]) — their red and green salsas Edit: I’ve been trying other places, and Fresita still has the best breakfast burritos around(and that includes St Mary’s, IMHO). Cabeza burrito — good, but I prefer Birrieria Guadalajara.
