This place is really good, I love the flavorfull coctel de elote and the variety of condiments to add. its a bit pricey compared to cup sizes but still delicious.

These corn cocktails are among the strangest food items I’ve ever eaten — and I’ve tried lots of things. Basically, $ 4 gets you a(~8oz) cup of very firm shucked corn in a broth of corn water, butter, lime juice, mayonnaise, and cheese. The taste is like nothing I’ve ever had before, and at first I suspected that I didn’t like it. Adding a whole lot of hot sauce brought the flavors together a lot, and things started to make a little more sense, but I still wasn’t sure I actually liked it. I’m going with 3 stars because I’m honestly not sure how to evaluate what just happened. Either they didn’t do a great job or I just don’t like corn cocktails, and I’m not sure which it is. If you’re looking to try something different, then this is about as unusual a culinary experience as you’ll have anywhere. But it’s not a cheap one, and I’m not really sure it’s a good one either. Mneh!

It is impossible to imagine Los Eloteros getting anything less than five stars. They serve corn cocktails and corn cocktails are either done right or wrong – a simple binary, a five or a one. $ 3 gets you a styrofoam cup full of corn kernels, butter, cotija, and mayonnaise. The condiment shelf includes every hot sauce available in the greater Arizona-Sonora region. Attack the cocktail with lime juice, then sit down and brace yourself for a moment of salty divinity. It’s culinary genius. If you leave without a new layer of plaque in your arteries, you’re missing the point. The families that run the stand are extremely nice and won’t laugh too hard if you are a gringo and completely fail to pronounce«cóctel.» The atmosphere couldn’t be better – plastic tables at the southwest corner of Park and Irvington, a perfect place to watch the world go by.
