Playformance

Bringing your kiddos here is one of the best things that you could do for them. Playformance is more than just another kids’ gym: Kevin («Coach Kevin» as he is affectionately referred to) incorporates exercise with character building, nutrition lessons, friendship, and good old-​fashioned play. Our kids have attended Playformance’s after school programs and summer camps for years, and they LOVE it. My oldest two daughters don’t have a sporty bone in their bodies and loathe exercise, but Kevin’s gym was the exception — I never dreamed those two would ever be able to climb walls or shimmy several feet up a rope and touch a vaulted ceiling, but the encouragement they received here was highly motivational. Your child’s physical development will blossom here, no matter what fitness level they are at. Some kids come here during their «off-​season» to cross train and keep fit, while for others, this may be the only form of physical activity they get. All of the coaches at Playformance are wonderful — they truly care about the kids and they clearly have a blast playing with them.
Kevin runs a variety of programs, including after school, Saturday Parkour, summer and other school break camps, and «parent night out» events (where you can drop you child off for a couple hours and head next door to Borderlands for a beer). He also hosts birthdays and team building parties (for both kids and adults). Kevin has an entrepreneurial spirit, so if you have an idea for some type of fitness and/​or play related event, he will try to make it work.
What child couldn’t use a bit more play in their lives?

I just had a party there for my 5 year old niece, it was a blast!!! The coaches provided, not only were professional, they were absolutely fantastic with all the kids that were from ages 1 to 12 years old, all of the kids were kept well entertained. There are different rooms for different age groups so everyone gets coach attention and entertainment.
I would highly recommend this place for a party, whether it be for kids, or adults!!! I look forward to going back to a party there and not being a hostess so I can play myself:-)

For a field trip, I brought kids I was supervising at a summer camp to Playformance for an afternoon. I did not know what to expect as I only knew as much about Playformance as what I was told over the phone. My first impression was that the building itself is pretty old (there’s a good reason why) and that I was worried for my kids. Thankfully, I stuck with the «you never judge a book by its cover» principle.
Once the kids and I entered, we were greeted right away by the staff. At that moment their kids were in «free time», where they were either playing Gaga, soccer, an obstacle course, or rock climbing. My kids immediately joined them for the fun. Next, the staff led all the kids in team-​building games built around their philosophy (you can find it on their website). After a fun game of Box Ball, they ended the day with a compliment circle.
I was very impressed and satisfied with this place. They have a mission of providing a fun and safe environment were kids of all ages are learning the values of teamwork and lifelong success. They are promoting strong physical education and healthy eating habits (the lunches they offer meet children’s nutritional guidelines). The reason for the building being old is that the place they use to be located at was damaged due to arson. They were offered this place and turned it around to a great place for kids. The staff was very friendly to the kids and all seem committed to giving them a great time. Most importantly, they are making these kids into leaders, whether it is on the field, in the classroom, or in their communities.
If you are in the downtown area or near their location, I strongly recommend sending your kids here.
