Everyone here is super friendly and the food is delicious. I come here all the time and they know me, and always go out of their way to make me feel welcome. Try the California bowl!

Fish Taco Special on Tuesdays STARTAFTER2:30pm! Came here for lunch hoping to get those 50% off Fish Tacos($ 1.75/original fish taco OR $ 2/special fish taco) but was so disappointed to find out that it didn’t start till later in the day. Regardless we ordered the a chicken especial burrito with guacamole and a 2 fish taco plate which came with pinto beans. Both came with chips. The burrito was a disappointment. 50% of it was plain white rice but had some guac, black beans, and a few strips of white chicken meat inside. I almost had to drown it in salsa to get some flavor. The fish tacos were okay. The fried fish pieces were small and over breaded. $ 8 for 2 tacos and some salty beans was not worth it. The inside of this chain restaurant was very clean and neat. Workers were all very kind, helpful, and cheerful. Environment: 5⁄5 Food: 2⁄5 Price: 2⁄5 Service: 5⁄5

Walked in and this place was packed! I thought wow what a great sign… I quickly walked out because EVERYONE was still waiting for their food order… Good thing new restaurants have joined this shopping plaza because this service won’t keep this place open… When I was in college this place was always great and I guess things change.

Very yummy fish tacos which are the special on Tuesday! I thought they looked small so I ordered three to go. After eating two, I realized I was full! I really liked that they had a toppings bar, so you can make your tacos just the way you want them!

This is probably my favorite Rubio’s location, but in my experience Rubio’s is just sub par in general. I’d been to several before visiting this one and was never very impressed. My favorite thing about this place is the beachy vibe it gives off. It reminds me of vacationing in tropical places. I ordered a burrito especial with steak and guacamole, but I got mine without guac since I don’t typically like it. I really enjoyed the steak here and the variety of salsas offered. What I’m not a fan of is that refried beans aren’t an option. I’m not big on black or pinto, so I really wish they had a third option, since many Mexican places do. Their chips are also kind of bland. I guess what it comes down to is that the menu seems a bit limited and lacking in a few areas. Would probably visit again in a pinch, but there are a lot of places along Campbell nearby that I would choose over this Rubio’s.

I had a terrible experience at this Rubio’s. I came around 5:30pm with my daughter and the entire place was packed. Not a single table was open. After ordering, we had to stand and wait for a table. Not the restaurant’s fault, but still irritating. While waiting, I decided to get some salsa and limes to eat with my food. The salsa bar was absolutely disgusting. The sauces were spilled everywhere, and to top it off, the limes were so far from ripe that they were rock hard and, when squeezed, would only produce two to three drops of juice. I ordered the burrito especial with chicken and my daughter ordered a kid’s chicken quesadilla with applesauce, a churro, and apple juice. I was shocked when the food came. The server put my plate in front of me and there was a huge slash in my burrito from the burrito being wrapped too tight, making it completely impossible to eat by hand. I tried to say«excuse me», but the lady just walked away. I ate the burrito with a fork and knife and was only more disappointed by what I found inside. The guacamole was brown, the lettuce was limp and tasted old, and there were only a few pieces of chicken. They completely forgot the churro and apple juice in my daughter’s meal. The only decent thing we ordered was the chicken quesadilla. I will definitely never be returning to this location. I’d like to think that maybe it was just an abnormally busy night, but there was something wrong with every aspect of our experience. Not what I feel should be expected of Rubio’s.

As food goes, it was pretty good. I gave them a 3 instead of 4 stars was because the dining room was a little messy, and the price per person seems a little high, my meal almost $ 12, and I would have had to pay extra for beans, I said not thanks you. I don’t remember them having real plates, silverware and people brining you the food. Again, friendly people, good tasting food. However if I’m going to pay that much, I might just go to a sit down restaurant instead.

I use to stop in here when I was going to the U of A on a regular bases. This is a typical Rubio’s. I always enjoy the original 2 taco plate with corn tortillas. They have a great selection of sauces and topping for your tacos, burritos or enchiladas. I have also enjoyed their brownie. This time I saw they have a Coconut Limon Bar. Wow this was amazing. The place i always clean and the staff is friendly.

Rubios has nice fresh ingredients and you can taste the quality. We had the chicken and steak burrito especials. The store is clean, bright, and the staff is very friendly. Wife and I couldn’t help but to think that it’s a lot like chipotle but slightly smaller portions for the same $$. Being a local company, I’d naturally tend to favor rubies over a chain but have a hard time picking them over other choices. At the end of the day, I like rubios and will be back anytime it is convenient and I’m looking for fresh tasting Mexican fast food.

I stopped to have lunch today at Rubio’s on Campbell Avenue. I needed a place to eat, use the restroom, and be in and out in half an hour. I was feeling like eating shrimp. When I have eaten at other Rubio’s locations in the past I have always ordered the fried fish tacos. They are good, but today I felt like shrimp. The restaurant was very busy, all of the inside tables were being used. I ordered the gourmet grilled shrimp tacos, cost with tax, $ 9.50. They came with a side of beans and a side of chips. I wish the taco had more shrimp and less ‘gourmet’. The tacos had about three shrimp each but they were lost among the bacon, avocado, two cheeses, and two sauces. It was a little crazy. I liked the flavorful corn tortillas and the food was delivered to me in less than five minutes. I appreciate the washable plates and silverware, so much better than plastic. Today the green salsa was very weak so I tried the chipotle salsa, it was better. I was sitting on the patio but had to get up to get a fork and a napkin. Everything is setup next to the salsa bar and I find it hard to collect everything you need to take to your table in one trip. I accidentally spilled some water and the women working were so nice about it. The service today was nice and fast but the food wasn’t the greatest. Rubio’s is fast and some days fast is what you need. As a note, I prefer the food at the location on North Oracle Road. They also seem to do a better job with their salsa bar.

Love rubios! Their roasted salsa, blackened tilapia burrito, and gourmet tacos are among my favorite quick bites!

Awesome fish tacos. Something I crave regularly. Great Tuesday special makes me eat one too many and regret it, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve eaten here many times, but mostly ignore the rest of the menu. Get the fish tacos!

Tried this place a second time. I just do not care for the food. Money would be better spent buying Mex food at one of the many Tucson Mex eateries. Gal the counter was very nice. Some of the salsas were kind of interesting. Not somewhere I want to eat again.

Hello! I was hoping to experience the awesomeness of Rubio’s here in good olé Tucson, but I was pretty saddened by the state of the fish tacos. I am used to the amazing Rubio’s in San Diego, and even in my little hometown of Poway, but wow not so fresh tasting. My girl asked for no cabbage too, which seems like a simple fix but she got a nice serving of that… o well

Well, I guess it just shows how far I’ve come since moving to Tucson and eating real Mexican food. When we lived in CA before we moved here, Rubio’s fish tacos were the THING for us. Tonight, they did noTHING for me at all. We were hoping to catch the fish taco truck on W. Grant for $ 1.50 a taco. But they were closed. :(Then we thought we would try out of hope that Taco Fish truck would still be open(we knew they probably weren’t), but they were not there. :(So, having failed the search for Los Bestos since I couldn’t remember where it was and seeing it didn’t have that great of reviews, we went to Rubio’s. I don’t know. I spent $ 0.75 more per taco here than at Taco Fish. The fish wasn’t as good, either, and neither were the condiments. The batter seemed different. Did they change the recipe? The salsa bar was very meh compared to truck salsa bars. I’m just very disappointed. Tucson has spoiled me. That’s a good thing. I have no reason to ever eat at Rubio’s again.

Love the battered fish tacos in corn tortilla, but there appears to be more batter lately — not so much flavor of the fish(cod?) The battered fish taco portion is much larger now with larger amount of batter. I’ll take smaller portion if I can have more flavor! I’ve also grown to love their blackened Tilapia grilled fish taco — sometimes too much blackening seasoning and I think there might be some MSG in the seasoning. Pinto beans and chips with the roasted tomato salsa — yum! The staff at this location are very friendly and get the ordered eat-in served food to you very quick and with a smile. The place always seems clean, tables wiped off and ready for customers.

I always go back but never in a hurry. Feel like it’s one of those places that is just missing a little something keeping it from greatness. Great lunch option though, usually very fresh and tasty and fast. Great fish taco, decent salsa bar. In my opinion they need to streamline the menu, add clearer healthy choices and a goto everyday special for $ 7 with drink.

Rubio’s serves up awesome eats and amazing gluten-free options. It’s fresh fast food. I’ve found myself coming here more and more as of late. Portions are small. Their Salsa Verde Shrimp Plate offers two tacos and a side of chips and beans. It’s like an appeteaser. I ordered two tonight for dinner. Just for me. Set me back a cool $ 18 bucks. I won’t be doing that often! My biggest complaint? There is nowhere to hang-out while you’re waiting for a to-go order when it’s busy. You can stand in front of the entryway and block incoming peeps, or you can get down and dirtay and straddle the trash can. It’s up to you. Both options blow. Of note, this place gets slammed at dinner time on week nights. I swear, there’s more traffic inside Rubio’s than outside on Campbell Ave. If you’re socially awkward like me, it’s the worst time to come, cause it be poppin’ up in here.

Rubio’s offers a generous portion of fish in their fish tacos, but they were served warm rather than hot(and that makes a big difference with fried fish!). The tortillas were a little tough and tasted very factory-made. The salsa bar is good, though I came here for a percentage night for a nonprofit, and it’s nice they offer that to support fundraising programs. They also use sustainable seafood, which is a major plus in my book, and they’re good about recycling. So, it’s worlds away from places like Taco Bell in both taste and social responsibility. But for food… folks, we live in Tucson, Mexican-food heaven for little local places! You can do better than this, people.

Rubio’s is an odd sort of Mexican food place in that it’s supposed to have a fresh/healthy flare(i say«odd» since usually Mexican is greasy and fatty). There menu is limited to tacos, burritos, and salads but they have LOTS of different varieties of each. My fave are the fish tacos. Served grilled or fried are both good — and they always come on a double corn tortilla taco, which I love since corn tortillas are known for ripping — it helps give it a little extra bulk. I do wish they had a larger variety of side dishes(its pretty much chips and beans and thats it), but they do have an awesome salsa bar which makes up for it.
