Uniquely Nails

I have gone here a few times for polish changes. Mostly they do a fine job. This time I went for fills. I normally go to a salon near my residence; Uniquely Nails is near my work, so I called an hour before and asked for an appointment and was told 1 hour was fine.
I had to wait 35 minutes. This is bad form. When you have an appointment, the time should be honored as closely as possible. An hour leeway should provide enough time that I either don’t have to wait or the wait is minimal. Otherwise, I’d not have set an appointment! This is a huge pet peeve of mine with all of these types of salons, so it’s just a me thing. That said:
The staff are not overly friendly; no one introduced themselves. The job was sloppy and rushed. I requested my nails be filed square. They are uneven, slope up or down — are all different shapes. The nail tech got the acrylic on the sides, and did not clean it up, so it dried hard that way. So, the edges are jagged and rough. The polish job was incredibly sub-​par. I got one color polish — no designs, nothing fancy. She left bare spots and really skimped on the top coat. They do have a drying table. However, I dried for over 10 minutes and still dinged them. They seem to use old polish, or put it on so thick it will never dry. They want to do gel, gel, gel … I get that it is faster. But that is NOT what I wanted. I had to be pretty firm about NO GEL. I think pushing a customer or arguing with them, or ‘tsk-​tsking’ them for their choice, which they are paying for, is incredibly rude. I’m a pretty simple customer. Like I said, nothing over the top or fancy. Just your basic fills with polish. Nothing major.
The chatter among the staff was annoying, bordering on rude. Like I was an inconvenience. I am all for a happy, chatty place, but normally it’s fun and friendly. This was the opposite.
The one employee I observed who did seem friendly and professional was Maria; she does excellent nail art. That is about the only positive thing I can say. If all you want is polish or art, this place is likely fine. Otherwise, go elsewhere.
Just not a good job, not professional, and not friendly. I won’t be back again.

I went to this place about a month ago and the women cut the bottom of my foot! It was painful and had to buy special band aids to put on my heel. I was so mad. I decided to give them one last try, so I went for a pedicure today. I just realized that the woman didn’t even cut my toe nails! And the nail polish is outside of the lines, on top of that… She didn’t even paint one of my toe nails all the way! I’m so frustrated. I’m never going back to this place. Ill being going back tomorrow to have them fix my toe nails. I can’t believe she didn’t even trim them! Now if I trim them myself, I will have to re paint them.
Update … I went back to have them fix my toes and they were very nice about it. She trimmed my toe nails and repainted them. She said If I was not happy with their service that I should come back. Great customer service at least.

Probably worse experience in a nail saloon. I got a french mani-​pedi.
After 4 days it all started peeling off. Very bad quality not to mention the lady that did my toes accidentally stabbed me! I screamed and the pain brought me to tears. She was covering the injured toe so I couldn’t see, and her colleague said «Don’t worry it’s not bleeding!» Like if it hurts only when it’s bleeding.
The pain went away few hours later, at check out she told me she is giving me $ 5 discount because she hurt me.
I left without leaving a tip and with no intention of ever going back!
Summery: bad quality and painful.

We moved to Oro Valley a few months ago and I didn’t know where best to get a manicure and my eyebrows shaped. I read reviews on Unilocal and liked what I read about Cindy of Uniquely Nails. I called and she told me to come on in. She gave me the best manicure I’ve ever had and I was delighted that Uniquely Nails uses gel nail polish. Cindy also beautifully shaped my eyebrows. I am now a regular and continue to be very pleased.

I’ve had my nails done a few times here and am always pleased with the result. The last job I had done was a gel French mani, the girl said it would last one to maybe two weeks — it lasted almost four! I didn’t think my nails were long enough for a French but she made it work! I love coming here, the staff is friendly, it’s a clean and relaxing atmosphere, and they have a great section of regular and gel polishes.

I have had two pedicures here so far, and have been very happy with both of them. I had a different nail tech each time, and the quality of the pedicure was consistent. The only part of this salon that makes me a little uncomfortable is the back party conversation going on in Vietnamese between the employees. I’m all for a chatty salon, I love the energy and fun conversation. It would be great if they’d chat in English, or perhaps I should learn a little Vietnamese and join in with them
Prices are great and I will continue to go here.

I don’t know my nail lady’s name (she didn’t introduce herself) but she was terrible! (Her pic is attached) I asked her not to cut my toenails, to only file them down and she cut them three times; and every time I asked her not to she very loudly and rudely commented to her coworker in Vietnamese about me. She spoke in a bitchy tone looking from me to her coworker for a good three minutes after I asked her to stop. Each toenail is a different shape. My cuticles are unevenly cut, and she painted over my cuticles not paying attention to where my toenails actually begin. I have been coming here every time I am in town visiting my parents and always had a good experience, but this time has completely changed my mind. Total waste of $ 25.00. I will not be coming back. I went to Uniquely Nails for the first time today, and received the worst gel manicure I have ever had in my life. I get my nails done regularly, and I’m really not that hard to please/​have never posted a negative review about ANY company before, but this was ridiculous. The nail tech (didnt catch her name) did a horribly sloppy/​lazy job, barely pushed back my cuticles yet managed to cut two of my fingers because she was in such a rush, uneven polish (i didnt even get something extensive, just white polish), and couldnt even be bothered to clean the nail polish mesh she left on the skin surrounding my nails before telling me she was finished. This is an embarassment, have some pride in your work. After I paid, I even said «here ya go, by the way, this was by far the WORST manicure Ive ever gotten in my life»

I enjoyed my mani/​pedi and my nail artist was very nice. But I did notice that the owner does not treat the employees very nicely and for that reason I wouldn’t go back.

Wet here yesterday. Got a $ 14 manicure, well, it was a $ 14 manicure. She spent barely 20 mins on me. No massage, barely cleaned up my nails and she chewed her gun like a horse. As soon as she was for painting them, she moved me right outta my seat. I won’t go back there.

Love my NexGen nails. 3^rd time I have had this manicure and my nails are getting stronger. Love the pedicure I get there, too.

I have been going to this nail salon for almost 9 years, it took me forever to find someone that did a good job but Jenny and Kevin are so great! My nails never lift and brake and they always look wonderful. I highly recommend them

i will never return to this nail salon again. I wanted polish on my toe nails and the girl did such a sloppy job, their was polish all over my skin, when i asked her to please take the polish off my skin she kept arguing with me. I ended up asking her to remove the polish from my nails because it was so sloppy, she then told me i had to pay for it anyway. Very rude, horrible customer service!

Love this place! Tom does a great job. I always get a flower painted on my big toe. I’ve gone some places and their flowers make me look like a hooker. But here they are very cute. Lol
