Yuki San really knows how to cook fishes! Catalina sunrise and blackened ahi tuna are two of my favs. I wish I know what kind of marinate he uses that is so tasty. Even the less expensive dishes such as chicken katsu or noodles are served with exquisite sauces and look pretty fancy. Their business is a bit slow and is not open for this summer. Wish they will be back soon!

Yuki’s Sushi is one of the best sushi places in Tucson. It’s quite upscale, and although the prices are higher than others, the taste is great. I would definitely recommend this place to people looking to try good food!

For anyone who is not a sushi or sashimi fan — their teriyaki chicken dish is outstanding. The desert was great, as was the service.

Yuki’s, tucked in next to a tapas restaurant, behind Opa and close to Sauce, is challenged by international cuisine on all sides. Yuki’s seems a little more upscale than other Japanese sushi spots around town, and the gilded menu is more varied. For example, the cucumber salad surpasses afterthought with tender turnip sprouts, a delightfully light sesame dressing and sweet, thin cucumber slivers. The yellowtail and salmon nagiri were thick and fresh, although maybe a little heavy on the wasabi, according to my partner. The dynamite roll lives up to its name. Service can be slow, as the staff is gregarious and often engaged in conversation with regulars.

I have not really been impressed with the sushi in Tucson so far(I’ve lived her 4 months and been to 4+ places). However, all my friends told me Yuki’s was the best. First of all, the menu(s) are very confusing. You get a pencil and piece of paper to check off which sushi rolls you want. Then there is a plastic menu which describes the sushi… however, they don’t match. Some are missing from each… kinda confusing, right? There is a regular menu with chicken etc and THEN another«picture» menu… again, which didn’t match anything you could check off the order list. We ordered 2 large draft Sapparos and a crab salad to start. The crab salad noted seaweed, but there was none on the plate. It was basically imitation crab with some vinegar cucumbers and sesame seeds. We ordered a spicy yellowtail roll, langamisto roll and caterpillar roll. None were bad, per se, just really nothing special and tasteless. All of that for $ 66. Eh, probably won’t be back…

Some friends and I visited Yuki’s again last night and it was so great! I hadn’t been here in a while and was very excited to try some new things. Anyone that goes here HAS to try their jalapeño poppers they are amazing! All kinds of creamy spicy goodness stuffed peppers are fried in tempura, I can’t believe I’ve never had them. Dollar beers and $ 2 sakes are always a bonus but their sushi is so great. Fresh and tasty! We had a nice variety of rolls including the New Orleans, rainbow, spicy salmon, spicy tuna and crunchy shrimp and they were all fantastic. I was stuffed after the sushi and beers but my friends raved about the bananas foster and moshi desserts, maybe another time.

It is hard to find Japanese food in Tucson that stays true to the taste of Japan. Yuki-san does that and he puts his own twist on his food. Specials are only on a few boards because he is often updating them. I often have to ask what some new special is and what is in it. One of the best things I like is that Yuki’s looks family owned and because Yuki-san is Japanese I feel it is truly traditional. Really good stuff. I have been to Japan many times so I know how sushi rice should taste and Yuki’s is just right for me. One way to check a sushi bar is to try the Sweet Egg(tamago) and Futomaki. The Tamago should always be made in-house and Yuki’s looks and tastes just like it is. I visit several sushi bars in town and this is always on my list.

Ate there last night. We’d given up on sushi in Tucson, but love this place. Great variety. Fresh and yummy. Would never have thought to order a chocolate ganache at a sushi restaurant, but was one of the best desserts I’ve had! Homemade! The owners and stuff were super sweet and polite. Fun place too!

So the food wasn’t bad. I think it was a little pricy and we had to work hard to get them to take our business. So flash back a couple of weeks ago. A co-worker and I were craving sushi. I’d heard good things about Yukis so we started looking at their website. Their posted menu was extremely unhelpful. They only post the names of their dishes. No descriptions and no prices. Not that money is everything, but I do have desired price ranges for your average every day lunch. The website said PDF of menu, but when you click it… nothing. We called and asked them to fax or email us a menu. They said they couldn’t do that. One of our other co-workers doesn’t «eat bait» for lunch, so with no good descriptions of their other offerings we bagged the idea of eating there. So yesterday… co-worker with bait aversion has day off. Perfect! We’re trying Yukis. Again, menu difficult to read and then we find out that sushi options can only be viewed in the gallery. We all finally manage to pick something. I go to pick up. I realize that separate tickets is a pain and I was definitely made to feel that. In the end, everyone thought their food was ok, but not worth what we paid. I’d say avg was $ 10. One meal was clearly not suited for carry out, but no one advised me of that when I ordered. One part of my rainbow roll had a bit of a past its prime flavor to it. Don’t think we’ll try this agin. But the good news is we now have a menu with descriptions and prices!

I love love love sushi. I find that Yuki sushi does things well. It’s simple, definitely fresh, clean, the staff is friendly and Yuki greets all of his customers. It had been a while since my last visit, but today I had lunch with my dad and it was super enjoyable. I ordered a bento box with chicken, rice, salad and half a California roll. I usually order all kinds of sashimi and nigiri, but with the Summer heat in full effect I wasn’t craving raw fish. However, I have never had a poor experience with the quality of the fish here and that’s why Yuki is one of the 3 sushi restaurants I eat at in Tucson. I don’t need fancy sushi. I just need Fresh and properly cut fish, that’s all! When I eat Sushi, price is not really on my mind. I’m looking for the best quality; the ‘melt like butter” texture of high quality sushi grade fish. If that is delivered then I’m happy as a clam. It’s that simple.

I must be very hard on my sushi, because I’m from California and I have a favorite sushi place with the freshest sushi around. This place is not that place. However, it is definitely the best package deal place if you go at happy hour, which I did. I got a Rainbow Roll and assorted Tempure for 5.50 each, and it came with free miso. Their miso was a bit over-misoed, but that was okay. The tempure was very hot and fresh and the variety was quite nice, and whatever tempura dipping sauce they had, which was different from your run of the mill tempura sauce was hands down the best I’ve ever had. The Rainbow Roll was a little warm, but my leftovers tasted great after they’d been refrigerated. Unfortunately, this place does not have the best service. While the waitress was quite friendly, she was inattentive and kept going back to talk to the sushi chef instead of checking up on me every once in a while. It took a good ten minutes between me finishing my food before she popped in to check on me, and several more minutes to convince her to bring me a box and my check.

Great happy hour prices, $ 2.50 for two pieces of maguro nigiri is awesome. Last time I went though I sat at the bar and I ordered my usual maguro but the chef(owner) gave me a different tuna and told me it was maguro. I know what I like to eat looks like buddy. He kinda argued with me so I let it go, kind of annoying though. The cucumber/crab salad with sesame seeds is divine.

Yummy. Fresh. Attentive. Clean. All the things I want in a sushi restaurant. The only negative was the kitchen got overwhelmed when a bunch of larger groups, including ours, all sat at once. We had to wait a little longer for our food than normal. The waitstaff and kitchen apologized profusely and comped us some edamame. I will eat at Yukis again, for sure.

Forget about coming here when it’s not happy hour. It’s too expensive, and there are other sushi spots where you can get all-you-can-eat sushi for about the same price of two rolls here. The staff is great, but the atmosphere is really lacking. I went there on a Friday night and my friends and I were pretty much the only people there. The sushi isn’t really that great either, I’ve had way better in Tucson. I’d only recommend coming here for happy hour to knock a few $ 1 drafts back.

Having just moved to Tucson, the fiancé and I were anxious to find our new go-to sushi place. Living at River and Campbell, there are a plethora of options to choose from, so we decided to start with this one, as the fiancé had fond memories of going here in college. We went here during happy hour, and they do have great happy hour deals(1 dollar draft beers!). However, the sushi was not good. The rolls were too big to eat, and the fish was slimy. I had a hard time getting it down. Normally I clean my plate of sushi, but I had to leave several pieces as they were just unappetizing. I may come here for sake bombs during happy hour again, as the sushi may taste better after some drinks. Overall, I wouldn’t really recommend this place. The hunt for good sushi continues.

New ownership(sort of) and re-opened just a few weeks ago. We tried to come in one night after seeing an article in the local daily about the place reopening with $ 1 Sapporos and discounted rolls at happy hour, but found that there was no happy hour: just confusion. So we returned for happy hour recently, and were somewhat redeemed. The place has changed. They’ve put in more seating around the bar area, maybe to supplement the expected crowds because of their beer specials. The crowd that could have been there was not on this Friday though. We arrived at around 5pm to find the place empty. We were greeted heartedly and got a table in the main dining room. The carpet in the dining room is gone, the music is more palatable, and the menu has changed. Much of the menu is typical Japanese fare, which may cause them problems as it runs about 20% higher than Yoshimatsu, just down the street. I also noticed that their regular(not happy hour) beer prices and selection literally mirrored that of their direct competitor. The happy hour is strange, to say the least. All discounted rolls are $ 5, but this includes both Rainbow Rolls and Vegas Rolls, but also cheaper options like Spicy Tuna Rolls and California Rolls. The California Roll normally runs $ 5 too, so it’s the worst deal. Also though I was tempted to order it, just because I think, for $ 5, it would have to be a hell of a California Roll. So we got the best options on there: Rainbow and Vegas with an albacore nigiri order($ 2.50 on happy hour). We both had two $ 1 beers, which were served in 12oz glasses and included Kirin and Shock Top. The food came out pretty quickly with the Rainbow first. I started picking at it and found it to be just okay. The fish was decent, but nothing fantastic. I’ve had Rainbows at On a Roll, Sushi Garden and Sushi Cho and, honestly, theirs are all better. The Vegas was also okay. It included masago but, for some reason, the masago did not extend through the whole role but, rather, was piled toward my side of it. My first bite on the Vegas was also a little fishy, for some reason, but the rest turned out much better. I did really enjoy the albacore though. I don’t normally like this item, but this one was really good. They had some excellent ponzu on there also. All this food ran us around $ 20, which is definitely cheap for the standards of other places. I would also mention that the server was friendly and very attentive although, again, it was pretty empty(a couple of other groups came in while we were there). Decision: we’ll be back. I like getting the good rolls for $ 5 and the cheap beer. We may come back, at some point, for the regular sushi menu.
