I can’t say enough about how happy I am with RJW. Richard is a wizard! Over the past few years I’ve been upgrading a ‘Frankenstein’ Jazz Bass with better and better parts I’ve gathered from EBay. Despite all the upgraded parts and my best abilities the bass had become a real pain to play. I took it to Richard fearing that the neck was too far out of whack for adjustment and would have to be replaced. It turns out that the problem was an issue with the nut and a few high frets. Richard was able to adjust the neck, adjust the nut, level the offending frets, and do a complete set up so the bass plays better than some $ 2000 basses I’ve had. RJW will get all my repair work from here on out.

Absolutely get your guitar serviced here. This man clearly loves guitars, and will treat them with great attention to detail. He let me(a total novice) watch as he fixed my guitar, and showed me things to look out for, and how some things work. He even fixed a few things that I would have never known were there.

Richard did a fantastic job of fixing the broken headstock on my guitar. The guitar sounds awesome post repair and I am glad he saved my dying instrument. He runs a one man operation down south of Seattle but is reasonably priced.

Brought my 60’s Kay electric guitar here to be re-fretted. It is a small operation, run by one man, Richard. That is precisely what I like about it. The care and attention to detail is really good. I had considered taking my guitar to Emerald City Guitars to get the work done. I realized, though, that in doing so, I would be taking it to a large workshop, in which several people would most likely be working on it, over the course of several days. Some would no doubt be more hurried than others. I suspect that the uniformity of care, and the knowledge of what exactly my guitar needs and why, would have suffered. There is something to be said for a single person seeing the job through to it’s conclusion, especially when dealing with a vintage instrument. Did I mention that Richard did the job for less money than I would have had to pay at a large shop? I was so ecstatic that I offered him an extra $ 20, which he declined. The guitar now plays wonderfully, better than it ever has since I have owned it(15 years). Richard encountered some unevenness in the fingerboard in the process of the re-fretting which he addressed. He also replaced my plastic nut with a bone nut, for the cost of the part and a miniscule labor charge. Set-up afterwards was included as well. The quality of work was totally worth the drive down to Tukwilla from Seattle. In the future, I won’t be taking my instruments anywhere else. In fact, although it is called RJW Guitar Repair, Richard does repair on a plethora of different stringed instruments. RJW Guitar Repair is a small, local, down to earth repair shop that cares and delivers top quality work.

I decided to give Richard a call today when looking for a local guitar tech online to help diagnose some problems I was having with a recently installed pickup. I was not expecting anyone to service me day of after numerous outrageous rush order quotes from other businesses, but Richard worked around my schedule and was able to help me within hours. He found factory foul-ups, replaced a bad toggle switch and returned my guitar to full functioning order all in time for my gig… And all while letting me watch! His rates were very reasonable and who let’s you watch while they work?! It’s clear Richard’s integrity is very well in-tact. Keep up the excellent work!
