Has just about everything you’d want in a dive bar. {I’d like to mention upfront it’s a smoke free bar} The lighting is very low. There’s seating for about 15 at the bar, a few additional 2 top tables, and at least one table that will seat 6 comfortably. My only complaint is about service. There’s no service well so you have to order your beverage over the heads of patrons. I stood there for about 10 min before the bartender would even acknowledge me! This girl can put away some drinks. I like top shelf so each usually runs me 8 – 10 $. Furthermore, I’m in the service industry so I’m very generous with my tip. But this particular evening I was underwhelmed by the bartender so I only had one drink and sat with my group. I know smoking bars aren’t for everyone. But I’d put Drakes way above this place based on service alone.

Number one thing I love about this bar: when attempting to pay my tab, the bartender had noticed a fairly drunk individual had pretty much cornered my friend and me. The bartender asked if we were leaving because of said individual to which I said no, we are librarians and can bully our way out of any situation. He made me assure him it wasn’t the fairly drunk gentleman, and if it was, promised to resolve the situation for us. The fact that he noticed, wanted to fix it for us, and desperately wanted us to stay may actually bring us back to the area for no other reason than just to see said bartender. Thanks buddy. We noticed. And we appreciated. Big time.

The first time I heard about Cellar Dweller was when someone told me that had jazz music every Wednesday night. When I heard this I assumed that it was some swanky underground bar. Partially true. It is kind of a divey underground bar, and they sadly don’t do the jazz anymore. It is very cool downstairs, very dark and cozy. Kind of feels speakeasy-ish. There are plenty of tables, and a full bar. This is one of the more hidden spots on the Tulsa bar scene, but definitely worth checking out!

Went here last night 9⁄19 and the bar tender was a complete butt. She was rude and kicked us out after just 20 minutes of is just sitting there because we didn’t buy a drink… I used to love that place and rant and raved about it to my out of town friend… I will NEVER go back to this place.

The Cellar Dwellar. The name really explains it. You are in a cellar. You have to walk down a shady zig zag type of stairs, but once through the door you enter a speak-easy type of feel and atmosphere. From the dim lit sitting areas to the red lights and tassle above the bar, this bar will make you feel like everybody does know your name!

This is Tulsa’s speakeasy. I have been a patron of this bar for many years, it’s definitely a hidden gem in the downtown Tulsa scene. When you arrive, you see a simple, understated sign outside that says Cellar Dweller which is easily missed. You walk to an apartment complex with a red awning and a door open to winding set of stairs. As you take each step, slowly, you start to hear bustle coming from below. Finally, you start to see the red glare come out of two glass doors and you are now at Cellar Dweller. This bar is by no means fancy but it’s got character which is even better. The bar is simple, cocktails, bottled and canned beer, but no draft. You can sit up at the bar and mingle with the regulars or hide out in a dark corner. When I say dark, I mean dark. The backwall is covered in mirror tiles and above the fireplace mantle hangs a kitchy but amazing, felt painting of a topless woman. You’re in Tulsa’s version of the Chicago’s own Green Mill. It’s small, it’s simple but you feel like this is where Frank Sinatra or Al Capone would hang out if they were in Tulsa. The bartenders are unique and have the exact about of sass and humor that you could only assume would come with such a bar. It’s perfect for a first date or nice drink before or after show. There’s never a dull night.

Just a winner, unique without being pretentious. Strange, good music, cold, dark, and $ 2 Old Style… go there, you know you want to.

Dirty smelly dark. What more can be said? «Interesting» art on the walls. Classic indie rock coming from the house speakers. Semi-famous photographer/artist serving you drinks.

My girlfriend and I got there yesterday(Saturday night) at 1am and the bartender was like«You guys have time for 1 drink then I’m gonna need to kick you guys out», well that’s a way to greet people and make them feel welcome! There were 3 single guys at the bar and that b*tch was litterally kissing their arse. We ordered a long island iced tea and when asking her if she had other cocktails, she replied«I wouldn’t call the long island a cocktail :)» since when the long island is not a cocktail and since when you reply this way to your customers on this teenage crisis tone? But that clown kept the joke going by scamming us with a ridiculous $ 27 for the long island and a whiskey that she carefully watered down, little did she know I saw her doing it when I was on my way back from the bathroom. We weren’t even feeling good enough to finish our overly priced drinks and left a few minutes later, leaving the waitress a round zero dollar tip as warm as her welcome towards us. We usually tip the waiters 20% but this time it was too much to close our eyes on, she stole us more than her tip fivefold anyway, so I’m not worried about her pay that she probably takes from the customers whether they want it or not. Also, if you like flying cockroaches on the stairs leading to windowless bar full of boxes everywhere and bitchy waitresses treating you like sh*t, you’ll love this place! :)

This is a wonderful bar. Jazz, good people, great bartender and service. Very hip and«chigagoish». Over 35 crowd the night I visited. I would stay at the Doubletree agin just to make sure I can walk to this great place. Green Awning out front is the only indication it exists… so make sure you know what you are looking for. Walk in and go down the cellar staircase.

You feel as if you’re taking a trip back in time as you go down the winding staircase to venture into this slice of history. Dimly lit, old school feel red velvet furniture and a beautiful painting of a topless woman to highlight the fireplace. Top notch. Friendly and efficient bartender. Would’ve loved to hear more on the history of the place but we were in a hurry to check out a show. Definitely check this place out. Fun!

No password. No problem. You gotta dive down some stairs to get your drink in this dive bar. It’s dark in here. There are no windows and minimal light. And sometimes that’s just what I’m in the mood for. I expect that the residents of The Blair Apartments love frequenting this place. The doors are under 100 feet apart. The people are friendly and that includes the staff. Not only friendly but also very helpful. Did I mention it’s dark? If you’re an ugly sob, this is where you want your first date.

The best part about this dive bar is the secrecy it holds. It’s not the easiest of bars to find from the street, and it may even have you second guessing if you’re in the right spot. But I felt like I won the treasure hunt to cool dive bars when we found this place less than 6 months after living in Tulsa, while born natives had no clue where it may be, or even that it existed. Downside: it’s not always open when you’d think it’d be, several weekends we went and the doors were locked. Overall, nothing super special, just a cool dive.

This is pretty cool bar. It’s downstairs and feels like it is in a cave. It kind of feels strange down there. I’ve only been in a few caves and it was those touristy in a car type of deal. My friend Derrick was in a spelunking club in Tahlequah and did some missions of some sort. He brags about it a lot. I guess he saved a lot of lives or something. He still has the helmet with the light bulb in the front hanging up in his office. Give him a few beers and won’t stop talking about it. Overall…cool bar.

What a great find and a great place to hang on jazz band night(Wednesday)! Tiny, divey, subterranean and hipstery. Mixture of couples in their 60s, kids who looked like they were 12 and 20⁄30 somethings who looked like the Cure’s Robert Smith(both the skinny and tubby versions). Bartender was very cool, very efficient and very capable. The jazz band would have made Jack Kerouac and his buddies snap their fingers. I stuck with Jameson and ginger instead of joining the Old Style swigging masses(ugh!) and I was happily surprised at how cheap my drinks were. Well played, Cellar Dweller, well played.

This is a true local favorite. It may feel like you’re walking into the movie Hostel while descending the stairs, but rarely does the night end with those kind of antics. Western tends the bar like a son of a gun. If you’re cool, he’ll be your new friend. You’ll want him on your side. CD has a really great, dank atmosphere. Between the low ceiling, the tuck and roll red vinyl plushiness, and the oil paintings; you can really learn a thing or two about tastefulness. «Class» is in session, as it were. It’s a perfect place to not be seen. Conversations can be had. Plans, hatched. Well-made drinks, drunk. If you’re feeling social, just grab a seat at the bar, and you will be conversing like a big dog in no time. Friendliness abounds. If you’re visiting our lovely city from out of town, this is definitely the place you want to be. If you’re from here, you’re probably already a regular.

It was 11:30 or so on the Sunday before Labor Day. After enjoying craft cocktails at a downtown location we wanted to move to a less trendy establishment. Cellar Dweller was perfect. The location is somewhat hidden. Fortunately one of the individuals in our group had been there before. We what looked like the front of an apartment building. We turned left, opened the glass door and immediately descended into a dimly lit dungeon. We found tables in the back and then went to the bar to order drinks. Cold beer. Tasty basic cocktails. If you want an honest bar that simply has chairs, beer and liquor then this is your place. Thank you!

One of Tulsa’s best kept secrets. Was sad when they closed and elated when they re-opened. I always visit when I’m in the downtown area. Very low key. Stiff and great priced drinks. Good to go to just hang out with a small group of friends. Some people complain that there’s no beer on tap, but in a place like this you should be drinking some classic cocktails instead. Although their bottled beer selection is pretty good. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded and then the ambiance is lost.

If you’re looking for a place that’s smoke-free with an intimate but inauspicious and unpretentious environment, this is the perfect place. It specializes in being the quintessential neighborhood bar that’s inviting but unassuming(being in an actual cellar). It’s a great place to go with a small group of friend’s or even for a happy hour or nightcap by yourself. It’s very dimly lit which adds to the mystifying aura of the place but it’s well worth the visit. Drinks are good and moderately priced, and the bar staff and patrons are friendly.
