Top three coffee shops for me in Tulsa! I usually go here to write or catch up with friends! Ordered: chai(blended, hit or iced) it’s all the bomb! They have the best chai in town. It is powdered. They now have a banana chai, you should try it blended! Pros: friendly staff, I love sitting at the bar, homey and cozy décor, cute light bulbs, very into the community, Cons: sometimes the couches feel a tad dirty, the back room feels dark

My daughter and I love love love finding new little coffee places. Being from Tulsa, its nice to see that there are some nice little coffee places popping up to enjoy when I am back in town. This little place is pretty unique. Kind of a divey-ecclectic-artsy place. Coffee is made as a «pour-over» so don’t show up expecting a «fast» cup of joe but it will be fresh. Mine was not really hot enough — needed to be brewed at a higher temp. All in all — if you like Brookside and a unique cup of coffee — give it a try. Not a great experince not a bad experience.

I had this chai, super good! better than your regular franchise(i.e. starbucks). very creamy, the cinnamon kicks up the flavaor as well. you have 3 sizes to choose from, I got the 12 oz. & it was a perfect size. also, I went ahead & got a banana nut muffin to go along with my chai. I advise to try it heated up, very moist. those two go hand in hand. they have a lot of types of tea & coffee to choose from, hot or cold at that. also, they have eats such as scones, quiches, etc.

As I walked in, I could tell this was the kind of place I would like. Maybe it was the burlap. While visiting from Denver, I wanted to try as many coffee places as I could. I found this place thru Unilocal, and it was the first coffee shop I stopped at. We went in on a Thursday afternoon, and although there were several people there, we were able to sit at the bar. I had a vanilla latte and 2 pieces of their Cinnamon toast… which was amazing by the way. The co-worker I went with had one of their specialty lattes, and some of their fresh yogurt and granola. We were both happy with our orders. This place is really cute. For me, it’s an ideal coffee shop. Just the right amount of local art, jewelry, random string lights, velvet couches, plants, books… everything. The barista that was working was really friendly too. Really happy with this find. I already want to go back!

I like to buy local but this place is always jammed packed It makes it really hard to do. There are so many people in there using the WI-FI or having meetings it makes it hard to just go enjoy a cup of coffee. I like the atmosphere and the set up but I don’t want to fight for a seat.

One of my favorite places in town. The coffee is delicious, and the staff is quick and professional! The decorations are interesting; check out the blue room in the back! Very cool. If you see the mugs on sale with little plants, those are repurposed mugs that were made by the owner and were used in the shop. Very cool and I think the profits go to charity, but I might be mistaken about that. Highly recommended.

My favorite coffee shop ever. Staff is friendly. Drinks are tasty. Great place to catch up on email or play a board game with friends or check out the local art scene.

GREAT Coffee! I enjoyed my Iced Caramel Cold Brew Latte so much! The coffee was very high quality for a decent price. The baristas were kind and very friendly. Shades of Brown is a neat coffee shop with a welcoming atmosphere. Unlike other coffee shops in Tulsa, man buns, tattoos, and beards are not a requirement to get good coffee. Would definitely visit again and would recommend this coffee shop to others.

Shades of Brown is my favorite coffee shop in Tulsa. Great location on Brookside means a perfect place to relax with a sweet drink after dinner with friends, but also great for studying and bringing your laptop. They play hip indie music and the staff is always cool and friendly. I usually order an Almond Milk Latte(vegan friendly!) and it consistently tastes amazing. The seating is comfortable and cozy. Local art decorates the walls. The only problem would be finding a place to sit can sometimes be tricky, especially if you come with several people, but that just means everyone else in Tulsa loves their amazing coffee and atmosphere too. Thank you Shades of Brown for being so awesome!

The coffee and atmosphere is great. The food is lacking. For some reason, they can’t figure out how to heat up muffins, sandwiches, or sausage rolls thoroughly. The inside of the food is always cold. You would think they could figure this out.

They have one of the greatest cups of coffee I’ve had in all of Tulsa. Hands down. But if you’re going for a fancy latte drink, you should prob go to Starbucks instead. I live all the way in Broken Arrow, but travel to Shades regularly for a large cup of coffee(with room for cream)!

Cool atmosphere and location — very mediocre coffee. Tried out a cappuccino here and it had a head of foam much like a beer would. They probably focus more on the aspect than the coffee

Shades of brown is a great location for your pleasure of people watching, studying, reading outside, meeting up with friends, or just a place to chill whole you ingest caffeine. The inside has a very warm, cozy environment that makes you feel right at home. It’s cool inside if you need a break from the heat and have some great drinks. There are also tables and chairs outside for enjoying the elements as well as some of the most splendid people watching. If you’re looking for a drink to cool down in the hot sticky heat — I recommend the bhozidafa.(I’m not sure if it’s spelled correctly but it’s listed on the cool drinks on the small sign on top of the frig display). It’s a blended frozen drink with caramel, extra shot of espresso and coffee grounds added for a great texture. For a warmer drink — I like the Prague mocha, not too rich, but perfect. Again, shades of brown is greasy for any of your caffeinated needs no matter what the weather is like.

This is a vey hipster coffee house on Brookside. My husband and I love trying to coffee houses so we will travel far and wide to find the perfect cup of coffee! When you walk in you immediately notice the art/trinkets and unique furniture. The few times my husband and I have went the service has just been… ok. It really depends what barista is working because my husband has gotten the same drink every time we have went and it tastes completely different every time. I have heard nothing but good things about this place but not really being a «hipster» myself, I really felt like it didn’t live up to the hype! Just ok place to me!

Just really not a fan. The mini cinnamon rolls are from Sams the art is uncomfortable to look at while drinking morning coffee(a bride with blood running down her nose and other gross pics). The place did seem cleaner than I remember and the musty smell is gone. The walls that were once covered with only local art now offer local retail like jewelry and their pinch pot mugs. and bride art. As far as the coffee, my latte was more of a cappuccino and the milk was scalded. I really didn’t enjoy myself and will wait another 10 years before returning.

My wife and I came here after dinner one night because we were looking for a quiet place to get some good coffee and visit. After reading the glowing reviews for this place from a couple of my favorite Elites(Sarah M. and Jazi H.) I knew it was just the spot. My wife ordered a Mexican hot chocolate, which she was very happy with. She said the kick of the pepper was just right. I ordered — and immediately fell in love with — a Prague mocha. The rich chocolate flavor was delicious. No ever mocha has come close to being this delicious. The handmade mugs are a nice touch to what is already an intimate and warm environment, the light jazz music and soft lighting making the place seem as comfortable as home. And the unique way they repurpose broken mugs into planters and sell them with succulents and bamboo plants is great. I look forward to many more visits.
