Food with character. That’s what eating at Sisserou’s is like. It is my new favorite restaurant. Two of us went for dinner and were asked if we wanted to wait for a table at the bar, which we did. My dad had a beer, and I had the Caribbean Punch. Fabulous! It’s wasn’t terribly sweet, which I worry about sometimes when I hear«punch.» The dark Caribbean rum was complemented with hints of nutmeg and tamarind. After getting to our table, had the crab back for an appetizer. SO. GOOD. The blend of flavors was wonderful and the outer layer was perfectly crunchy. It’s addicting! We then ordered jerk chicken but asked to replace the sides of rice, beans, and corn for mac and cheese and Caribbean medley, which was done without a problem. We said we were going to split, so our waitress offered to put everything on two separate plates, which is not very typical of most restaurants. Our entrée arrived(in pic) perfectly split, sides as well. It was definitely enough food for two, especially since we had an appetizer. The chicken was amazingly flavorful and the sides were great, too. The Caribbean medley is like a curry cole slaw, but not overly creamy like most cole slaw. The mac and cheese was also great. Last we had coconut crème brûlée. OH. MY. GOSH. Probably the best crème brûlée I have every had. The caramelized sugar was just thick enough and perfectly broiled, and the coconut flavor was subtle and a perfect addition to traditional crème brûlée. Overall, our visit to Sisserou’s was fantastic. Our waitress, Lexi, was a doll and very on top of everything. I can’t wait to go back!

The jerk chicken & street corn were amazing! I really enjoyed the butternut squash soup! We couldn’t rate 5 stars because the mahi tacos weren’t good enough to be on the menu. Bland fish, no sauce, just peppery/bland coleslaw.

I loved this place. I had the shrimp curry and was amazing. Very good Caribbean food. Service was fantastic, music was very appropriate and out waiter, Bryan, rocked. I am coming back. Only a few days in Tulsa, but will make it here at least once again.

Awesome place for a great meal packed with flavor and complexity. If you have mac and cheese on your menu, there’s a 1,000% chance I’m going to order it and these guys do a really nice job with it. I typically opt for the jerk chicken with corn and mac and cheese and everything is full of truthiness. I heard a rumor that they do fried jerk chicken on Tuesdays so that is definitely going to happen. Great place! Keep up the great work, guys!

The best part about working downtown is the endless options on food choices. Its also good because you can eat and then walk back to work, it’s like a workout! :) This place is a 10 star seriously! The food is ahhhhmazzzing! I always get the jerk chicken and it seriously reminds me of my trip to the Caribbeans! Each bite is full of spices and flavor! You will definitely leave this place satisfied! Since I don’t work downtown anymore I miss it! Wished there was one on the South side so i can go EVERY day!

sisserou’s is located in the lively downtown area. the ambiance was great. the service was great. the parking was easy. the food however, was hit and miss. we ordered the jerk chicken wings and the callaloo soup to start. these were definite hits. the callalloo soup was creamy and packed with flavors. the wings were marinated in the house marinade for days and grilled to perfection. the chicken was fall-off-the-bone good. we also ordered the stewed oxtail. this was a miss. this is half the reason the waiter said he works at this restaurant. with such bold statements i thought, this would definitely be a hit. i don’t know caribbean food but i thought an oxtail dish with caribbean flavors sounds amazing. the flavors however were too sweet. i thought most caribbean flavors were more savory and spicy but this was sweet. the vegetables in the stew were mediocre and the meat was tough. typically, oxtail needs to be cooked for hours so that the meat and tendons are fall off the bone. it had a lot of potential based on the description and the stamp of approval from the waiter but nonetheless a fail.

Rum Punch 5⁄5 — I can’t feel my face Jerk Chicken Wings 5⁄5 — Damn those are good. Dipping Sauce for the Wings 2⁄5 — Kind of tasteless in comparison to the wings. Not sure what the point is of it. Chicken Curry Roti 4⁄5 — Wonderful taste presentation off when cut in half the first several bites are nothing but potatoes. The chicken is all mashed into the ends. Everything is obviously made to order. Both dishes came out so hot you couldn’t hold them. This is not a complaint. Just a warning to not just bite into something. Will I go back yep! Many other things on that menu look good and what I had didn’t disappoint.

The daily special was jerk chicken tacos and they were a little spicy but yummy. The crab dip was delicious! If you like spice try the sauce. Very unique!

Want to give them a 5 on food. And a 2.5 on the service. Can’t clean a table or the plates on the bar was unreal. This place was at best POOR… Appetizers out after dinner.

I know very little about Caribbean food but I do know when something tastes good. The pork loin was amazing as was my wife’s chicken. Large portions so we had left overs. We had a drink at the bar and it is very friendly and efficient service. This was our first visit to Tulsa. Next time we will certainly return to this place!

Food: 4⁄5 Service: 5⁄5 Cleanliness: 5⁄5 Décor & Style: 5⁄5 I tried the Beef patties, the jerk wings, and the oxtail. The beef patties and jerk wings were amazing. The oxtail was good, however slightly chewy and slightly bland. We had to add lots of extra jerk sauce/special sauce(whatever they gave us) to make it more flavorful. I understand it is very hard to make good oxtail and it seems as though only the good ones are at pricey restaurants. Overall great place, excellent service, good décor, and hard to find good caribbean food in Oklahoma. They even have fleshed rolled-up towels in the restroom. See my pictures. 5⁄5 overall.

Sometimes, in the middle of a business trip, you get what Douglas Adams misidentified as the«long dark tea time of the soul.» His mistake is in his choice of beverage. Sisserou’s, you, with your ample parking lot, consistently empty dining room, passably bland and surprisingly cheap lunch menu, are the perfect temple in which to pray the tea(er, mimosa) time away.

One last dinner in Tulsa after our two-week business trip, and we decided to try Sisserou’s Caribbean Restaurant in the Brady Arts District of downtown Tulsa. Sisserou’s is located along Boulder Avenue, just over the railroad tracks, and they share a parking lot with a popular Mexican restaurant. Inside the door to Sisserou’s you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into a cavernous industrial loft, but the dim lighting and large pieces of artwork give the place a sleek and classy urban appearance. There is a large, and quite popular bar area off to your left, and a variety of seating areas with both booths and tables. The menu features a variety of tastes from the Caribbean, so you’ll find lots of seafood and jerk seasonings. I started my meal with a cup of Callaloo soup which is a traditional Caribbean soup that is a blend of spinach, okra, herbs, spices and coconut cream. It is finished with a topping of lump crab meat and a Parmesan cheese crisp. For my main entrée I selected the Jerk Chicken, which was a half chicken marinated in jerk seasoning, then grilled, and served with grilled spicy corn, and rice and beans. Both dishes were excellent, and reminded me of past trips to the islands. Sisserou’s menu includes lots of appetizers including crab backs, coconut shrimp, cod fish cakes, lobster thermidor, beef patties, and plaintain poppers to get you in an island mood. The dinner menu includes steaks, curries, stewed oxtail, mahi mahi, and Bake & Shark — A popular Trinidadian dish of deliciously seasoned deep-fried shark served inside a «bake», or fried dough. Served with tamarind and cilantro aioli, spicy ketchup, grain mustard, and crunchy accoutrements. That’s a «Must Try» for my next visit! We finished the meal with a rum cake dessert which was a light, golden bundt cake served with a pineapple rum glaze and one scoop of vanilla ice cream atop a grilled slice of pineapple. Fire up those steel drums and get ready to take your taste buds to the islands!

Our 2nd time here did not disappoint. Starting out with the spicy passionfruit martini, we moved onto the Plantain Poppers – delicious little bites of plantain w/a tiny bit of heat(if you want) — then both my husband and I got the Pork Tenderloin – so tender and juicy, cooked just right. Served with this amazing curry spiced caribbean version of slaw! It was so good. I switched out fried plantains for the mashed potato/sweet potato and it was perfectly creamy & tasty. Our friends got the burger, and the shrimp curry that was delicious as well-not too sweet, not to curry! We love this place-and its huge portions and will return!

YOWZA! I will start off by saying my experience here was superb. I am a bit disappointed with myself for taking so long to come in here and see what Sisserou’s had to offer. I came in with a friend around 7PM and we were seated immediately to a booth. There were other patrons enjoying their meals, however it was not too noisy and our server promptly greeted us with menus. Firstly, DRINKS of course! I started with their Mojito. They’ve got a full bar(important) as well as many custom drinks, something I always love in a restaurant. I had the Claytini next and wow was that refreshing, I will be having that again. They made them stout, definitely not watered down like many other restaurants do unfortunately. Super thumbs up there. We decided on an appetizer, we went with the beef patties, the curry beef intrigued me and they did NOT disappoint. I will note that they were quite slow considering the small crowd being served. The server was very good about keeping us happy during the long wait, we received a loaf of bread and some whipped butter. The bread was very different, had a hint of sweetness, I found it delicious. I assured her it was alright, we were in absolutely no hurry. The manager also checked on us, something I always appreciate. For main courses we chose the Pork Tenderloin and the Jerk Chicken. Both were intense with flavor and did not lack in any form. It is for this reason I always enjoy Caribbean foods. So many spices, flavors, sauces coming together, it’s truly an art. The plantains were possibly my favorite part, wow I could overdose on those! Side Note: The bathrooms were super clean and private and I always prefer a cloth hand towel to paper! Do be sure to come in here next time you are searching for somewhere to enjoy a meal out. Perfect for dates, special occasions and even larger groups. There is something here for everyone, burgers, salads, curry, shark, steak, all delicious I’m sure! Bookmark Sisserou’s! :)

Delicious caribbean food and festive atmosphere. Went for lunch with friends. Many items to choose from on the menu including lunch specials. I had the chicken curry, Very good. One friend had the jerk chicken salad, it was also good. Our favorite was the cuban sandwich and the butternut squash soup. So much flavor! And all of the food had pretty presentation. The waiter was attentive. The atmosphere was colorful and hip. Probably would be a great place for dinner with friends. Looks like they have a full bar with great cocktails, wine, etc.
