Blansh is the only Middle Eastern place in Turlock(and surrounding towns) that has joojeh kebabs that are very lemony. I’ve been to other restaurants and their chicken thigh pieces were not marinated well however this place knows how to marinate chicken. Great customer service and chefs making the food are very sweet.

Decent Middle Eastern grocery, and the prices cant be beat. They have changed their name to ISHTAR(the Babylonian goddess of fertility … no less :)). The place is spotless and clean, the new owner is very gracious and accommodating. Had the chicken kebab here,. It was ok.

If you like kabobs, you MUST try the food here. Definitely the most flavorful and moist chicken kabob I’ve ever had. Their beef kabob is good as well, and you can get a plate with bread and rice for a very reasonable price – just call ahead because the kabobs take some time to cook. They also cater/sell trays of kabobs for parties. I’ve used them multiple times and the food was always fresh and tasty.

They have very tasty chicken kabob plate with rice(order 20 minutes ahead). The ground beef kabobs are good too.

Went for the kabob and my review is mainly about that. First time was great. I ordered the chicken and beef kabob meal which comes with rice and tomato. This is where it becomes confusing. With the meal it also came with Lavash(bread), onions and sabzi(greens) Next time… no bread, onions or sabzi. This is confusing because I dont know if the first time i was given extra or I got cheated the second time. I saw no menu that broke it down and i dont want to come off rude so i left asking it alone. Either way for under $ 6 you can get a meal thats much better then most places around! oh they do have excellent prices on dates, nuts and all sorts of pastries and goodies :)

I’ve heard about this place a few months ago but never could locate it in the many mini-strip malls propping up around this town. I stumbled upon blansh on a search during a windshield blade replacement. at first, I think they believed I was sent in to do some investigating(I was Yakut photos) which is fair enough for a business owner to shoot an oddly look and continue to stare. they carry many items in bulk, but it’s prepackaged bulk seeds, legumes, olives, an amazing cheap assortment of Californian grown dates, and even display tea kettles throughout the store. while it’s not an organic foods store, it is nice to see an alternative to another safeway. I’ll definitely be coming back as I eat dates for smoothies and making raw pie crusts for my raw dessert. hey, they’re grown in Cali, no preservatives, neither chemicals. and for 32oz at five dollars it’s a steal. it seems they are preparing to expand the store as signs suggest a bakery, deli and an olive bar. sounds promising. i also uploaded a photo of the proposed site. it will be interesting to see the creations out of another cultural bakery in town. bakeries are definitely not the most amazing around here but with a little generational history behind it, i’m all game.
