I’ve been buying donuts at Fails since I moved here 3 years ago. They seem to always be open when other donut shops are not. They have the fluffiest donuts I have ever had. Always fresh and tasty. The owners are always nice and give us an extra donut with our order. You can also pay with a credit card but there is a $ 1 fee if your order is under $ 10.

As far as I can tell, Turlock has 3 doughnut joints, and this is the only one that has doughnuts that don’t taste like they came from the grocery store. Plus, if you buy a few, they’ll throw in a handful of doughnut holes too. I just picked up 2 dozen to share with one of my classes, and my students raved about how good they were. The place isn’t much to look at inside or out, but they stay open into the afternoon, and the people who work there and run the place are always friendly.

Donuts were good and I would kill to have a place like this in Nashville. But, in a crowded California market, I don’t think they have anything that stands out. A couple of things I didn’t like include: The frosting on the cake donuts hardened on the donut to almost a crusty like state. We were there first thing in the morning and I know the donuts were fresh, so I don’t know why this would happen, unless the recipe is wrong. My 4 year old daughter wouldn’t even finish her prized pink-sprinkled donut because of that. I also felt like the donuts were a little heavy on the oil. It wasn’t nearly as bad as it could be in oiliness, but they donuts seemed to hang onto a bit too much. My wife and daughter were really happy with the maple bar and glazed donut. This place is good, but I was hoping for a little better when visiting from the donut-barren land of Nashville, TN.

Only place I go to get donuts in Turlock. They always have a wide variety to select from, and their customer service is great! Not to mention the donuts always taste fresh and delicious.

I had a huge craving for donuts today and while other places in town may be fine, nothing has ever amazed me. Usually when I’m in Modesto, I always have to grab Mr T’s but after today, I know I don’t have to travel too far in order to get my donut fix(seriously it’s a problem and I shouldn’t but how could you resist fried dough, I rest my case). But back to the story, out of the many places I could’ve gone, I came to Fail’s because of the good reviews and no one was wrong, they are pretty fabulous donuts! I decided to make the trip before I went to school. I was greeted warmly by both the owners when I walked in. I ordered a dozen of various types and also donut holes. I didn’t get to eat mine until after I finished with class and I’m surprised I lasted as long but even with time, they were still so light, fluffy, and somewhat warm. I will definitely come back and more often now that I’ve tried them for myself. The owners were really nice and the older man behind the counter even threw in an extra glazed just because. This is yet another reason I love mom and pop stores and will continue to support these types of establishments but especially this one

Donuts may be good but the owners son told me that I should not expect to plug in my laptop next time. When I told him his father said it was okay, he called my a liar. Hmmm. Great invitation to return. The big question is why you would name your donut shop Fails?

Awesome service, we had a craving for donuts and after calling several places who were already closed this one answered the phone, I asked what time they close and she said we are closing now but will wait for us so we jumped in the car and 15 minutes later had donuts! I recommend this place the owners are so sweet!

Fail’s has been the go to donut shop for my family for over 30 years. Prices are good and the donuts are too. It may not be a pretty place to look at, but does it need to be?

This used to be my favorite spot for donuts growing up in Turlock, but recently bought a few donuts and was very disappointed the toppings were dried out and falling off and definitely didn’t seem fresh despite buying them at 8am on a Sunday morning. I guess I’ll be searching for a new donut shop. :(

Best donut place in Turlock. Prices are reasonable(about $ 7.50 a dozen) and their selection is always way better than the other donut shops. Atmosphere is pretty sparse — your typical small shop. But they have about 10 tables to sit at where you can enjoy a donut and watch people go by on Center Street. Donuts are consistently yummy, but nothing spectacular — all of your normal varieties with a few fancier offerings. Plenty of beverage options. If you purchase several donuts(not sure what the secret number is), they usually add several donut holes to the box. The clincher is that this is one of the few shops that makes enough donuts to still have a good selection into the afternoon. Seems every other place has just a handful of odd donuts left if you pop in later in the day. Not Fails. They’ve been at this location forever. Operator has changed a few times, but the donut recipes must come with the place because they’ve looked and tasted the same for decades. If you’re in Turlock, this is THE donut place.

THE best donuts in Turlock! Fresh, soft, great selection, friendly staff, and well priced make this the best donut shop in town. If you pay with credit card, you must spend more than 10 dollars to avoid a service charge, so bring cash.

(In all honesty, the ONLY reason that they are not getting a 5 star is that they do not carry my favorite donut variety, but on to the review.) I got a maple donut, I took my first melt-on-your-mouth bite and found out that it was also glazed(!!). It was amazing! The price was reasonable, the fare was fresh and very delicious and it was made with a certain artfulness. They even had foot shaped doughnuts with sprinkles on the toes, they were really cute AND overall delicious. My husband got a yummy glazed, braided, big giant one that he really enjoyed. I recommend it.

Fresh donuts, warm and tasty. Downside is that they only accept cash and by 8am their donut stock was already depleted. The crowd that was gathered was a bit awkward but the donuts are great.

Large selection, decent prices and friendly, quick service. Picked up 4 doughnuts this morning to enjoy at home with the hubby-to-be over coffee. My sugar raised twist was soft, sweet and perfect. My maple bar was not too cake like… just right. The bear claws, apple fritters and cinnamon rolls looked fabulous but I wasn’t sure I was ready for the sticky, sweet, sugar overload this morning.
