The first thing I noticed after being greeted, was the owner(I assumed) washed his hands before helping me. He did the same for every guest who came in after me. I bought a tea to sip and relax while I took care of some work on my phone. The music is calming and the décor is minimal, which is what I prefer at a coffee shop. I was surprised there weren’t more people in the shop. The quality of the tea is wonderful. I’ll have to try a coffee then next time I visit.

Ill start by saying im 21 and I work full time like most other college students, anyhow I stopped in to Luis coffee right after he opened and loved the latte I got I didn’t make it back to Turlock until last week where we talked for a couple hours when I heard his story on why he opened his shop and if you want to hear it, feel free to stop by, Manuel is a very nice guy and would love to share his story. I want to let everyone know that I’m beginning to work with him to get the store to feel like the coffee shop it should be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you guys very much!

My husband and I stopped by for coffee and a Portuguese doughnut. The doughnut was freshly made, the double shot espresso does taste like the ones we tasted in Europe last fall. The owner seems serious but he warmed up to us once he got our orders going. The décor is blah and needs some attention but overall I would go again if I’m in the area.

The best latte in town! I came here to work and found a comfortable work environment that allowed me to have insightful conversations during my work breaks. The atmosphere is friendly and the pastries are delicious. I tried both the almond scone and the pastel de nata and was pleasantly surprised to how delicious it all was.

He asked me if I wanted European style or American style and I knew I was in the right place! Strong bold flavor. Perfect foam and SMith tea. Fancy.

Back in late 2012/early 2013 I made a new Unilocal friend namely Umar G whom, after some communication, made our intentions of meeting in person to share in our love of restaurants and reviewing them. Fast-forward to a clear afternoon in West Turlock and we finally met at this new coffee/tea house he suggested. He’d never been as well as myself and like me was going to review it post meet-up(of course I had to beat him to the punch because I’m OCD like that lol). We arrived at the same time even though I would’ve been there earlier had I know the exact coordinates of the place(it’s in a standalone building in a shopping center nearest to the corner of Tully & Fulkerth). The place looks new inside and had the new vibe too in that it seemed somewhat bare in both décor and seating. Alas that’s how most local businesses are while they learn their customer base and are in the process of getting their sea legs. Manning the counter was an older gentleman who seemed a bit gruff at first, I’d assume he’s the owner but seemed to warm up more as Umar G transacted with him. He ordered for the both of us and treated me to a large unsweetened iced tea(he’s a good egg and gent!) because that’s how I’ve been rolling these days. He had a more complex drink which I’ll let him describe in his review of the place. Very shortly after Umar returned to the two seater round table we commandeered, our drinks were delivered personally by the gentleman at the counter which is a nice touch. Umar and I conversed of course while I sipped my perfectly herbal and fruity tea. It was better than most teas I’ve had in other local shops however I would’ve liked a green tea option to match my glorious teenager-like metabolism I recently unlocked. I didn’t care too much for the acoustics of the place mainly because I lost my voice earlier in the day and I couldn’t rise above some of the sounds that come with a coffee shop. There were also times the music and any other background noise would just cease but yet the only thing you could hear was our yammering. It’s a good thing we weren’t talking about questionable things or else it might have been one of those embarrassing moments you see in tv and movies(in no way like the famous When Harry Met Sally scene, you know). I know I definitely want to return when they get those legs from that salty water I mentioned before and maybe a couch or two wouldn’t hurt either. I’m looking forward to seeing where things go with this place!

Pretty decent coffee and the owner seems really helpful and courteous. It lacks the«café» atmosphere, though I think it wont suffer from that much, because it may be catering to the business clientele who probably take their cuppa to go. I’d definitely come by again for a take– out capuccino. Overall it was decent coffee though lacking in character a bit; but then I’m a terrible coffee snob since the spouse, created his own blend, and still has it individually roasted. Prices are very reasonable, and they have sugar free options. My other suggestion would be to have the option of soy milk . Came here with a new friend(a Unilocal buddy … «a Unilocalie?» lol) and we had a good time chatting, but since the place lacks that café house vibe, the conversation kind of petered out after an hour.

Best cappuccino I’ve ever had. The owners are warm, hospitable, and knowledgeable. These people know their coffee and man, was I glad for it. Art selection is a bonus.

I came across this place while selling a collection of VHS Disney flicks. I figured I’d try it out, given the proximity and short-time left to start work. I walked into the store with positive vibes, but the place felt… Empty. Soft music played in the background as I ordered from a seasoned faced fella. The menu was simple, the bar was simple, the coffee was simple, and the overall context of the joint lacked any distinguishable attributes. Nevertheless– the service was polite. The owner discounts 15% if you are a CSU Stanislaus student and they do have a stamp-reward system. The regular coffee is nothing special, but it does smell delightful hot. Not sure if that will be enough to drive my interest to return, but if I am in the area, I would not mind helping the local business. A few decorations and maybe some modern twist(besides wifi) could make this place something special… Just saying. Be creative and take risks.

The absolutely best cappuccino! Very comparable to my favorite Italian ‘authentic’ North Beach coffee shop in San Francisco. Turlock coffee lovers — be sure to stop by often so this recently opened, much-needed gem of a coffee house becomes a permanent fixture. No disrespect to the Big Coffee company chain stores, but Luis, thank you for bringing great coffee to Turlock!

I have visited this coffee shop four times in the past month. I have never been disappointed in anything I have tried. The service is unequalled by any coffee house in this area. If you have any question about coffee, ask the owner, he is always there. He will take the time to answer in detail an in a friendly manner. The only thing disappointing is how few coffee lovers in the area have found the place. By far the freshest, most delicious coffee around. Oh, yeah, and the price is better as well.

I decided to give Luis Coffee & Tea a try after doing some financial business with the nearby bank. I was not expecting too much from the coffee shop because I have tried a large amount coffee across California. The place was completely empty which was very shocking to see because he was featured in the local newspaper. I approached the counter with some questions to assess the venue. He answered all questions with confidence. I ordered a mocha with a pump of vanilla. I was completely shocked to taste mocha from Luis coffee shop. The texture and consistency was on point. He did not disappoint me at all. It is really disappointing to see an empty coffee shop that serves great coffee and a great coffee shop atmosphere. I would recommend anyone to try this coffee shop. Luis Coffee & Tea is a local coffee shop who needs to be recognized for his hard work and comfortable environment.

Ordered a cappuccino and it was just as good as anything I’ve gotten in Europe. The coffee was rich and full bodied, and the milk was foamed perfectly — something most Starbucks employees are incapable of doing. Highly recommend trying it out.

I stopped by this coffee place because I had read about it in the newspaper. It’s a local business so I wanted to give it a try. I walked in and this place had a bad smell. I don’t know if it was a sewer smell but it smelled. I decided since I’m already inside this place, to continue ahead with my experience. I asked the owner if he makes his mocha with powder chocolate or syrup. He said he makes it with syrup and he believed it was 100% chocolate. Believed? Hmmm I was confused by his statement that he believed it was all chocolate. Long story short, the mocha was good and I would come back without the smell.

I recommend this place. Stopped by before heading to work this morning, and had café Americano. The best I’ve had since I was in Spain. Highly recommended. Nice couple as well. Very welcoming.
