Ono Hawaiian BBQ

Really good proportion, food was cooked to perfection and the place was very clean! I went during a pretty quiet time so I’m not sure if it’s ever busy and what the service is like then, but the customer service was pretty good too.

I went in for the first time to try the food, since I’ve been wanting to for a couple years. The person at the counter (who later identified herself as the «only and head manager) was not friendly, did not ask if we were ready to order for over 2 minutes, then another girl came out and asked us, and we were still deciding, so the «manager» proceeds to roll her eyes, mumble and tell the girl that that’s the reason… mumbling…I could not believe how we were treated here by their only «manager», so we took our business elsewhere, and we will not be going back. First impressions are everything, and this was horrible, to say the least!

Stopped here on our way home this past Sunday night…
I have been to other Ono’s before and I would say the service at this location is outstanding. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, not to mention especially patient with our orders.
The food was pretty good but perhaps nothing special. I had the noodle soup combo which consisted of mushy noodles with broth and boiled veggies (cabbage, napa, carrots and a small scoop of edamame). The boyfriend had the two item combo with the spicy chicken and kalua pork. I loved the salad and salad dressing from his combo– it was really fresh and tasty. The chicken was pretty spicy and I assume he liked the kalua (because I didn’t get any).
Overall, ⁴⁄₅ stars.

We were regulars at Turlock Ono, however we will never return after we got scolded and accused of «wanting free food». We went in on Friday 2−5−16 for dinner. We paid $ 60 for five people ($ 12 per person). One of the meals was undercooked chicken. We took it back and thought they understood our concern. One of the female employees came back and gave us a stern lecture in front of customers on how they would only replace the undercooked chicken this one time. She commented that the three cooks believed the chicken was cooked correctly and we were just being picky and wanted free food. We looked over and the three cooks were staring at us and point us out. I ended up taking the replacement meat back to the counter and told them I did not care for «free food,» their disrespectful attitude, and I guaranteed them I will never go to Ono in Turlock! I would give them –4 (negative four) for the three cooks and the one employee that lack training in fast food service but the lowest choice is one star. Spoke with manager Elisa, she was just as unprofessional which translates to the employees lack of skills. Beware of undercooked food and a poor attitude at Ono Turlock.

I love Ono’s BBQ. Can we please have one in Roseville California? This is the best Hawaiian BBQ food that I have ever had. I have never been disappointed. The plates are the perfect portions of protein, carbs, and veggies. I love how the meat drippings season the cabbage. I am so glad that they have carbonated soda water to water down my high calorie Coke. The #5 seafood plate is Aloha-​riffic! Many many Mahalos go to the owner of this restaurant!

Went in today around 3pm. I was so disappointed. I receive my food it was cold. Asked them to reheat it and they gave it back burnt! After picking out all if the burnt pieces of food I tried to enjoy what I had left and just ended up disgusted. I definitely won’t be going back.

This was a ‘last resort’ stop for us because we were starving and wanted Japanese but the two sushi places near by did not open for dinner until later, so we gave this place a try. Pleasant surprise! I got the chicken katsu and it was delicious. Also got fried shrimp which was ok — not as good as the chicken. My daughter got teriyaki chicken and loved it. Wish we had one where I live! Would be a returning customer.

I have never come here and been disappointed with my food. I never really was interested in trying this place out until many of my friends ranted and raved about how good it is. It is some of the best fast food (if you can call it that) that I’ve ever had!
The only reason I’m giving it four stars and not five is because every time I come in the employees are RUDE. Never had a good experience with them, but never had a bad experience with the food.

My daughter and I love Hawaiian food especially musubi. I got the seafood mix plate with Crispy Shrimp, Island White Fish and BBQ Chicken. Also with a side of macaroni salad and white rice. We also got the musubi appetizer. Which is a block of rice topped with a dash of Teriyaki sauce and a slice of Spam, wrapped in seaweed. If you like sushi you have to try it. They also sell Hawaiian Sun juice that comes in a can. Awww it brought us back to Hawaii. My 3 year old said what a beautiful Hawaiian restaurant and she said she missed Hawaii. Crazy how music and some nice art take a child back and remind them of the beautiful place of Hawaii.
Everything tasted wonderful. The food was nice and hot. The fish was flavorful, the shrimp was juicy and the chicken was amazing.
The customer service was awesome. I had some coupons and the one I was going to use was for $ 5 off of $ 20 and the lady who helped us told us if we have the chicken coupon we would actually save $ 7. SCORE! Nice!
I will definitely come back and enjoy the Hawaiian atmosphere and delicious food.

Just got 5 meals. The chicken is not fully cooked, we only ate the rice and macaroni salad. Service was great though.

Ordered chicken teriyaki aloha plate, was prepared poorly and quality of chicken was very poor and had a weird after taste.

This is a really good rest and stretch your legs stop when driving Fresno to Sacramento. Turlock has really been growing the past few years but my favorite eatery is still Ono Hawaiian BBQ. Cashiers definitely show the Aloha spirit and make you feel like Kamaina. I tend to prefer the Hawaiian Beef plaster, but the chicken Katsu and Mahi Mahi are equally «Ono». Parking is really problematic, so just park in the Target parking lot and walk a few feet to the front door. I recommend you by 2 plate lunches, one to eat there and one to take home. Prices are not bad, $ 10 for BBQ beef plate lunch plus a drink. Servings are generous so
you will probably have left overs.

The service isn’t the best but I only come in for the spam musubi anyways. Always hot and delicious and to go. I don’t even like touching the chairs, they feel sticky-​greasy all the time.

The first time I ate here I was not impressed. My husband and daughter liked it so I decided to return and give it another chance. My second visit was so much better.
That being said we started coming here regularly. At first I wasn’t a fan of the macaroni salad (the one I make taste much better) but I started liking it more and more.
Last time we came it was terrible. I took our food to go and when I got home and opened the box the chicken was literally floating in grease. My chicken was extremely chewy to the point of just spitting it out. My macaroni had a strange taste to it too. Maybe it was just a different cook but I doubt I will return. Most of the employees are none to friendly either. I know your job sucks but a little customer service without an annoyed look on your face would be nice.

The worst place ever. It used to be great but it keeps getting worst every time I’ve gone there. Stay away from this place. Even if u complain, the management doesn’t care. Horrible place.

This place is horrible! I got one of the grilled chicken plates, and the inside of the chicken was all pink, yuk!

Best food in Turlock

The spam musubi is salty, porky goodness. The mix salad is shredded lettuce, edamame, ginger soy dressing, and your choice of meat. These two make a deliciously light meal.
BBQ meats are amazing and always perfectly executed. Not too rare but always tender and flavorful. If you don’t know what you want, go for the BBQ mix plate which has a little of everything.

Hot, fresh and something different!
I’ve avoided this place for years, thinking this just wasn’t for me. Well boy was I wrong. I finally decided to give it a try today. I wanted something different and I was tired of mcds/​panda/​quiznos.
This place was surprisingly good.
I hate going to places new and feeling like i wasted $ 10 to not even be satisfied. This place filled me up and hit the spot. Money well spent. I’ll be back.
What I liked about this place was it was made fresh. I never mind waiting 10 minutes for my food, especially if it means I get it fresh. That’s why In N Out does so well IMO. I got my container and it was filled with macaroni salad and rice as sides. It also came with 3 different kinds of meat, i got the #44, some meat mix of chicken and steak. Anyways, I opened it up and you could see the steam from the hot food rising from it. Also i was all put on top of some cabbage or lettuce.
I also recommend trying their sauce, I poured it on my rice and meat. Out of the 3 meats they gave me, it was a grilled chicken, breaded chicken and some kind of carne asada like stuff. I can’t tell you which was my favorite, they were all really good. I’ll be sticking with that combo that gives me all 3.
