Came here with a group, little of a wait for table and food but it wasn’t bad because we talked a lot so it went by fast, got the BBQ chicken pizza, really good, the chicken is chargrilled and U can tell they put effort into it. Everyone else got seafood and they loved it.

The food was ehhh… I had sushi(seafood salad) and that was wonderful, but my friend had the seafood platter and it looked as though someone just plopped some stuff on a plate at a high school lunch. It didn’t taste much better. For 30 $ it wasn’t worth it. I feel as though there are better places in tuscaloosa. Why is this place so popular?

I’ve eaten here many times on business and have never been disappointed. Sushi is good and you can eat at the bar upstairs if dining alone. Dinner in the main dining room is a great atmosphere for any gathering. The catch of the day and really any of the seafood dishes you just can’t go wrong with. I always recommend Chucks to my business colleagues.

I really wanted to like Chuck’s Fish because of the rave reviews and recommendations that colleagues and friends have given me. Honestly, it was completely overpriced for the portions they gave. Each entrée should’ve only been $ 15. It looks like the lunch menu of Applebee’s but $ 10 – 20 added more per plate. There was only a little bit of the main course and a lot of filler. You have to ask about the complimentary bread. They don’t provide it to you unless you ask. It’s delicious and warm. I always need extra butter. The eel special roll was very average. It may be slightly better than Publix’s frozen sushi. They do provide a lot of avocado. The crab cake dish was $ 25 for two average-sized crab cakes and a whole lot of rice and cold veggies. The seafood platter consists of two stuffed shrimp, fried oyster, a very salty fish, and again, lots of rice and cold vegetables. Everything on this plate kind of tasted the same. The restaurant atmosphere is gorgeous. I would come back here just for that and maybe a drink but save the food for elsewhere.

Everything about this restaurant was amazing. Service was great and the food was absolutely incredible. Sushi was the best I have ever had. Would totally recommend to anyone visiting Tuscaloosa, Roll Tide!

Fresh Catch of the day, wood grilled and blackened, nailing it. Deep fried Gouda grit cake amazing. All fresh and top notch sushi, even have sushi for beginners like the cowboy roll(cooked steak, nothing raw). I prefer to sit up stairs with a view of the open kitchen, it’s a bit quieter and you can see all the action.

Best restaurant in Tuscaloosa, period. Proper wine list, short but excellent menu, great service and fun ambiance. I’ve been there many times and have never been disappointed. Moved to Tuscaloosa from Boston so trust me when I say the seafood here is excellent.

Best place to get seafood in Tuscaloosa. I love getting any of the fish of the day blackened. The tuna dip is great. It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for.

Everything we ate was good. The sushi wasn’t as good as Hokkaido. Nice for something different. Expensive

Five stars for the food. Three stars for the service and lighting. The sushi is the best in town, hands down. Ladies night is a good night to go for $ 2 off and cheaper drinks. The service is so-so, I’ve had decent service on past visits but tonight, the hostess was dismissive and the waiter disappeared for long periods of time, leaving us dry and impatient. It’s so dark in there I can’t see the menu. It’s like that every time, and I’m 27 so… it’s not my old age! They could turn up the lights a bit and keep the ambiance.

Pricey for Tuscaloosa, but it is a nice place. The food i would grade as 7 out of 10 with some better days than others. A nice place for a date or to eat with visiting family. Menu is mostly fish including sushi but there are other satisfying alternatives. Would reccommend

Amazing place in the middle of Tuscaloosa’s bar scene. Beautiful atmosphere and always, always excellent service. The sushi is of the highest quality, maybe because Alabama has access to the Gulf Coast.

Chucks Fish is great. I am sure it’s not easy to get fresh seafood consistently in Tuscaloosa but these guys find a way. Entrées are always delicious and the sushi is fun and tasty. We usually sit at the bar and eat because we forget to make reservations. If you are in town and looking for good seafood, go here.

Had out of town family in from N. Carolina and Colorado and after a movie decided to eat at Chucks on a busy Saturday night. 30 minute wait for a table of 9. We ate all around the menu… sushi, steak, and fresh fish. A small issue with one of the sushi plates was quickly taken care of. Black Grouper on several plates was outstanding. Crab cakes very good. Grit cakes got a thumbs down… too dry. Overall very good service and recommend to all…

Pathetic excuse for fine dining. I forgot people in Tuscaloosa were so easily pleased. Seriously overpriced, sides were cold when they arrived, packed on gameday and no effort to adjust or prepare for it. It’s sad. This place has a lot of potential but horrid management.

Wow… I’m convinced everything Chuck touches is gold. To match the cool, quiet, personal yet lively atmosphere, each course we ordered was incredible. To start, you MUST try some sushi; the TNT roll is bomb. I had the BBQ Chicken Pizza, cooked in their wood-fired grill, which was equally amazing. Vanilla bread pudding with homemade ice cream topped off the night in a perfect way. Must try spot in Tuscaloosa.

I’ve been in town for business four separate times and every time I get to town, I eat at Chuck’s. The shrimp appetizer is amazing, the sushi is always fresh and the scallops are great. I can’t forget to mention the seafood platter. Great atmosphere… even though I am from Southern California, I’ll let all of the Alabama paraphernalia slide ;)…This place is a must if you’re in town for business or a game… great job, guys!

I was in Tuscaloosa for the week and asked many around for restaurant recommendations. Chuck’s Fish kept coming up. I am so glad that I went to check it out. It was fantastic. I’m not sure that this is true but, one local that I spoke with said that Chuck’s gets some of it’s fish fresh from the Gulf and Mobile, AL. Seafood wise, this establishment reminds me of a locally owned Bonefish type of restaurant. The type of seafood that you will find here(or that I found on my one trip) reminded me of cooking styles that I might see at a Bonefish grill. The atmosphere is similar too — although with a local flare that I appreciated. This is my type of atmosphere and my type of seafood. There were many great options on the menu. I ended up going with one of the Catches of the Day — per my waiter’s recommendation. The fish that I chose was Red Snapper. This was my first time eating Red Snapper and it was fantastic. Not being that familiar with this type of fish — it is exactly what I like to eat — a nice, light, white fish — similar to a tilapia(real seafood lovers may cringe with this description). With the catch of the day, you can choose different styles for the preparation. With the sauté style, it came with a lemon caper cream sauce which was delicious. It was served on a bed of rice, which the menu listed as rice pilaf. To be honest, I never get too excited when I see«rice pilaf» on the menu. This«rice pilaf» was fantastic. It was more of a yellow rice to me, than what I think of when I read«rice pilaf.» I was pleasantly surprised. I also chose grilled asparagus for my side. I was very happy with my entire experience here. Although I’m not a huge sushi fan, they have a full, Bonefish style fish menu and a full Sushi menu too. The atmosphere was really nice and I had a great time. I look forward to my next trip to Tuscaloosa and a return trip to Chuck’s fish. It is a bit pricey — roughly $ 40 for my dinner(no drink). If you can afford it or want a treat, I think it is worth the price. This was one of my favorite spots — especially food wise — for my first trip to Tuscaloosa.

Chucks sushi is great, but not too much a fan of their actual food which is why I’m giving 3 stars. I always enjoy sitting at the sushi bar with the chefs there. Always kind and entertaining and service is great. Very busy restaurant so plan trips accordingly.

My Unilocal friend Meg A said I should eat here. I brought a friend and we were impressed. Completely impressed. Nice place complete with outside and upstairs dining areas. Because it was on special we tried the shrimp appetizer and this was the real surprise — the texture of the shrimp was perfect, the breading very light and crispy, and the«downtown» sauce was tangy great! Both of us gave it 5 stars. My friend(and Meg A) like the Stuffed shrimp more than I did, but it too was particularly well prepared. My Yellow fin tuna? Terrific with the very light and delicious creole craw fish sauce served on the side — a nice touch as that way I could enjoy the tuna with and without. our Experience was really 4.5 to 5ish. No kidding, my friend and I literately looked at each other in amazement to confirm how good the shrimp appetizer was. Thanks Meg.
