Great cup of coffee here. Everything I’ve ever ordered has been made perfectly. The staff is always quick to take orders and very friendly. This is my go to coffee spot in the area. You can tell that this place is run by coffee fanatics with the demographic of other coffee fanatics in mind. The setting is clean, warm, and very comfortable.

I daydream about the Everything Bagel here with their richly flavored cream cheese smear… Sigh. And the black house coffee is delicious too. Wonderfully atmosphere and great place to converse.

You really can’t beat coffee roasted in house. Peak freshness, and extra aromatic. They put in 1 more shot per cup size than most other coffee shops, so if you like your coffee strong like I do, this is the place to go. Their cold brew is also fantastically strong, and yet retains a nice caramel finish. Zero bitterness. Although latte art has no bearing on if a coffee tastes good or not, it definitely elevates the experience here. Makes for some good pictures too. I’m not in the Tustin area often, but when I am I’ll usually swing by for a cup to go.

I came at night recently, and I felt like the service was a little weird. Usually the cashiers/baristas here are very friendly, but it was a bit of an off day(or something). Something worth noting is that they are open fairly late(as far as this area is concerned), and there was a good amount of seating available. Also, as you can see from the pictures, the latte art was a bit sloppy. Usually Kean has their a-game, but perhaps this is not the best shop for night time.

I’ve been to this shop a few times, but I was always too focused on the drinks and food to Unilocal my experience. Their drinks are amazing, one of my top 3 coffee places in Orange County. I was just disappointed by my last visit due to their lackluster almond croissant. I’m an almond croissant connoisseur, ok maybe just an obsessed foodie, but anyone whose had one would be disappointed by Kean’s almond croissant. The croissant was dry even after they warmed it up and lacking almond paste. At my most recent visit I ordered their dirty chai for the first time. It was good, but very non traditional. It tasted of ginger, kind of like Ethiopian/Eritrean coffee. I bought my co worker a cup of the same thing and she seemed to enjoy it as well. All time favorite is the grasshopper and crème brûlée tart.

5STARS — Great Service — Great Coffee — An Orange County Must See Café Now, on a more serious note I have one nice thing to say to anyone who says they weren’t greeted with a smile at some counter by some cashier. Did you smile first and greet the cashier? Allow me to illustrate, when you are on the job in the middle of the day and you meet a stranger while you are in a hurry working do you typically give them a huge smile and a «How are you doing?» No? «Why it is their job to smile,» you say? Oh, well it isn’t easy serving obnoxious hungry, caffeine deprived people all day long, I speak from personal experience. How about next time instead of seeking a blessing, how about you be the blessing. Bless that teenager behind the counter, with all of their schooling, dating issues and their parents divorce hearings by asking them how their day has been. Smile, be courteous and encourage them. You may just be blessed so much in doing this that you find that it is the pick-me-up you really needed. It has been said that, «If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else?» Jesus said this in the Holy Bible in the book of Matthew chapter 5, verse 46 – 47. Next time you go out to eat, lay down your life simply by being the friendlier one and encourage that young guy or girl behind the counter. Don’t we always say, «It is better to give than it is to receive?» This«Love» that we all speak about is visible in actions, not only heard in words. :) Love you!

Still as good as I remember. So glad I didn’t ruin the latte by adding sugar to it. That initial strong taste always makes me want to reach for it. The prices are still great as well. I’m always going to make a point to stop here if I ever pass through this way. Please open up a shop in the valley! We badly need good quality espressos like this.

Kean Coffee is a «Central Perk» kinda coffee spot. The energy here is palpable. People come here clearly to enjoy their coffee, and not to just grab ‘n go. Patrons have cards, dominoes, and things. These tables aren’t gonna turn over any time soon. It was fine, as I was actually here to grab and rush off to my hair appointment. Got a large Turkish latte. I can put down a Starbucks venti 5-shot Americano black, no cream/milk/sweeteners of any kind, no problem. I actually couldn’t finish my Turkish latte, not even close. It wasn’t because it didn’t taste good, because it did. Kean Coffee is about quality, not quantity. I got everything I needed from my half a large cup of latte. It was carefully crafted, unlike my cranked out Starbucks. If I wasn’t rushing off to work every morning, I would ditch my drive-thru Starbucks for places like these. Another reason I need to win the next billion dollar Powerball!

Heard all the hype here, and after almost nearly a year after bookmarking this place, I finally stepped inside… First thing I noticed: this place is crowded! There were barely any seats open inside, and the counters were crowded around with people waiting for their drinks. I would say it’s pretty loud inside for a café. I ordered a cappuccino, 12 oz size. Since it was pretty crowded when I went(Saturday at 12PM), I had to wait a bit for my order. But when I got my drink, the cappuccino was so foamy and delicious! It’s pretty strong, but there was a nice thick layer of foam to help balance that out. So far, my impression of this coffee shop is really good. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite, but I can tell that they use high quality beans. I read on other Unilocal reviews that the Turkish Latte is amazing, so I hope to try that out next time!

This is probably my most favorite coffee shop… like ever! I am OBSESSED with the Turkish Latte. I used to work around the corner and would get it all the time, now I miss it dearly! I wish they would open one in LA. Friendly staff and good pastries and breakfast sandwiches as well. Check out the light fixtures, they were designed by Italian designer Fortuny!

Despite the long lines on a Sunday morning, the place is quick. They serve a variety of coffees, smoothies, and teas plus a huge menu of food items from Blackmarket Bakery. I think they essentially have everything Blackmarket has(muffins, popovers, croissants, sandwiches). Anyways, I just love people watching — some families, quite a few older folk, and some who don’t fit the mold like this gangster-looking man reading a book. I got a Turkish latte with almond milk. After a few days of having almond milk lattes, this was THEBESTONE! It was perfectly sweetened.

Get the Spiced Mayan Mocha it has a spiciness with just a hint of dark chocolate and I can still get the flavor of that delicious coffee from it. I even took in that chocolate at the end of the cup and there’s only 3 other places I do that with. Tifa Chocolate and Gelato, Intelligentsia Coffee and Urth Caffe are the only 3 places worthy of five stars for a Mocha and this one just earned it with my other favs. The aroma of their coffee beans filled the room as I entered their doors– freshly roasted every day. I had to get me a bag of their most popular beans. I was surprised to find it crowded in the middle of the afternoon but I can see why. So glad to have friends that live near by… new addiction :))

Nice coffee shop. Came in on a Sunday morning around 9am and got a honey latte. My husband got the signature Turkish latte. I’d say the honey flavor in mine was really strong. A bit overpowering for my taste. I preferred my husband’s latte which was more interesting with the cardamom and spices. However, I felt the coffee was a bit weak or masked by the other flavoring in the drinks, but we also shared a lemon blueberry croissant and that was a winner. Perfectly warmed, flakey, and delicious! I’d give 3 stars for the drinks and 5 for the croissant.

Kean Coffee is sure to give you that kick of caffeine during your 3pm lull, their lattes were strong! it gets pretty crowded even though they offer seating out front, out back, and inside —iced almond joy latte with almond milk: there was something cloying about this iced latte that i couldn’t quite figure out self serve water. they also offer pastries and such but i didn’t walk by the counter to look since my friend ordered my drink NOTE: No wifi so really just for those trying to socialize not study!

Unilocal challenge 2015. 294⁄365 My heart smiled as it inhaled the fresh aroma of coffee the moment I walked through the door with a few friends who needed coffee to caffinate themselves for a 200 mile journey. Tastey looking pasteries caught my eye. I found myself quite at home at this hipster coffee shop off Newport Ave in Tustin. My coffee was fresh and hot. It was a full bodied brew with zero bitterness. Added a little cream and sugar and it was one of the best cups Ive had in a long time. Kind of wish I lived closer to frequent this place often. The white chocolate mocha was super strong and not very sweet. Hubsters had to add about 1\4 cup of sugar to accommodate his sweet tooth. After adding enough sugar he enjoyed it. Friends enjoyed their cappuccinos, and thought they were mighty strong. Cant wait to come back and enduldge in their flat whites and other expresso drinks. I am a fan! #770

Kean Coffee is a coffee-snob, hipster-loving paradise in Tustin. In college, I always aspired to go here, but never made the trek out until one pre-Halloween celebration that brought a friend and myself in search of any and everything pumpkin-themed. Kean most definitely did not disappoint. THEHIGHLIGHTS. + Extensively sourced coffees + Single-source drinking chocolates + A relaxed, warm setting that just screams«write the next great American novel here!!» + Excellent chai lattes I wish I made it out more in my SoCal days, but it’s an easy place to hit up on quick trips down south!

Good matcha latte and the Turkish latte is pretty good too. It’s best to go to Kean in the mornings. That’s when they seem to have their best baristas on staff if you’re into the latte art thing. The few times I’ve been there on a Wednesday afternoon were disappointing as I expected a cute heart in my mocha latte and only received foam. Solid almond biscotti to go with their coffee. They offer their own blends for purchase. Seating seems spacious but when they pack in on the weekend rush it ends up being rather limited. They have a big machine where they grind the beans right there in the front of the store. It lets off lovely aroma when they are in the process of grinding.

I’ve been going to Kean for years and have been frequenting it more recently. Kean has a very cozy atmosphere and the drinks are high quality. This was actually the first place many years ago that I first saw latte art done, and I’ve only gotten their hot drinks(love those giant mugs they provide you when you have it there). Best drinks are definitely the Matcha Latte and the Mayan Hot Chocolate. They make the best of both drinks and I’ve had many a matcha lattes, but Kean’s is just balanced and so smooth.(Also, I think they properly whisk it so you don’t get random bits of the matcha floating around)

Awesome coffee drinks and excellent service, however it gets super crowded here and on a Saturday or Sunday you will probably not get a seat initially, particularly outside(not enough chairs). This is my local coffeeshop and between this, Peet’s, and the Lost Bean I should probably never be lacking caffeinated goodness. 7 Leaves is also in this plaza, so that’s yet another option. Their iced coffee is a hair below what I like from Peet’s but still kick ass especially on a warm afternoon when you don’t want to wait for your hot coffee to cool down. However unlike my other faves they don’t put out liquid sweetener(unless you count honey, I don’t) so that’s kind of an inconvenience. I don’t like standing there for 2 minutes stirring my drink waiting for stuff to dissolve. And trying to describe to the cashier(who doesn’t make the drinks) how sweet to make my drink is an exercise in futility, since I flavor my coffee by taste alone, which changes by the day. Note if you truly need truly free wifi or Internet access at a computer, Tustin Library across the street is a pretty good option. Also their bagged coffees here are supposed to be the best.
