Finally back in the OC and I have to have some Miguel Jr in my life! I haven’t had it in over a year and I’ve definitely been having some withdrawals! My sister was ticked off at me for coming here so close to closing but our food was just as good as if it was earlier in the day! This location is just as good as the Orange location! My BRC was still very fresh even my tortilla was fresh, usually when you go somewhere that’s close to closing hours your setting yourself up for bad quality food but this wasn’t the case at all! This was my first time at this location and it’s solid, I have 0 complaints except I wish they would stay open until 11PM during the week but that’s wishful thinking! Food: SOLID! Service: Good ^__^

What a joke. First of all im trying to place an order, it’s 2pm on June 13th so you can figure out the extremely rude and illiterate man who continued to interrupt me and then told me «actually I can’t take ur order sorry» and refused to take my order. I pulled up the window and asked if that was still true and he said yes. The staff here is a total joke you either need new people or new management.

Worst food ever! Soft tacos dripping oil. Gross, gross fross and we both got really sick after eating there. So many better places to eat. Dont subject yourself to the stomach pain.

First off, we grew up on Miguel’s as teenagers in Corona so we still crave it anytime we are in the So Cal area and even bring back burritos by the dozen. Potato, Rice and Cheese is my all time fave(squeeze some lemon and dump some of their famous hot sauce on it!!) Second — although they are a drive thru, we have always known it wouldn’t be fast — this isn’t Taco Bell and good food takes longer sometimes especially when it’s a popular place so I don’t suggest going through the drive thru if you’re in a hurry. We went on Memorial Day at noon and got all 12 of our burritos in about 20 minutes. Brian(manager) even had them all wrapped in foil individually which kept them warm until we got home to the Bay Area. He even threw in 20 hot sauces for us… I highly recommend this location and will come back many times!

I don’t understand how people are obsessed with this place. The food is bland. The hot sauce is horrible. Ate there this past Friday. Ordered the chicken nachos. Most of the chips were just crumbled up pieces. An hour later I felt sick and 24 hours later I haven’t been able to eat anything. Yay for food poisoning. I will never go back to this place. I gave it 2 stars only cause the girl behind the counter was super nice.

I was craving their famous bean and cheese burrito so I ordered one from this location and when it came to my table and I took a bite of it the burrito pretty much fell apart. It was just a giant lump of beans in a tortilla. I was really disappointed. I ended up eating the burrito with a fork because it was a mess. This happened to me previously at another Miguel’s junior location in the drive through but I thought that this one would be different because I was actually dining in. Bottom line is the burritos are good but just be careful when you eat them because they are messy.

We stopped by here for late lunch twice. We’ve tried their carne asada combo plate. I thought it was pretty tasty so I’m a bit confused by some of the Unilocalers’ post as it’s bland, too salty or too tough. My picky almost 4 year old daughter actually loves eating their carne asada with their crispy chips. Because of that, they definitely get my vote. My husband is in love with their guacamole and would regularly just get their guacamole for take out to go with chips. It’s a bit pricey compare to other places but it’s tasty to me and my family!

Sorry — I just cannot recommend this place after my last visit. The wait in the drive thru was horrendously bad. When I finally got up to the window — and asked about the wait — I was immediately rebuked that it was not a long wait. My bad — I guess my iphone was stuck in a time warp. Okay — so the wait was bad — these things happen — but after waiting 20 minutes for my food — it was marginal at best. The quesadilla looked and tasted microwaved. The taquitos were not special — more like Costco taquitos. The gauc was runny and not good. And the carne asada burrito — barely had any meat. Here’s the thing — when I go to In&out and have to wait in a long line — I don’t mind — because there’s a great payoff at the end. Miguels jr. — not so much. Much better Mexican food places to choose from in Tustin.

Went through drive-thru Sunday after 11 am. The line was full already and staff came out with their digital menu taking orders to speed things up. Super friendly and patient! I ordered their nachos with shredded beef and was very satisfied. The beef was tender and flavorful. The chips never got soggy by the time I was finished, which is saying a lot since i’m a slow eater. I also tried their horchata — pretty good! Overall I’d definitely go back!

Carne Asada Nachos is my favorite here. Even though it is not showing on menu but you can order it. Small is $ 8.79 and large is $ 1 more. My daughter likes her kid meal cheese quesadilla($ 6.09). They also don’t accept Discover card.

I have been here a few times, I personally believe that their prices are a bit outrageous! I got two street tacos and one shredded beef taco and it was almost $ 11! Don’t get me wrong, the food is really good for a drive-thru type restaurant. I just wish they would consider make there food more evenly priced. I can go to El Pollo Loco and get a chicken street taco for 99 cents whereas they price their steak at almost 3 dollars. But the employees are super friendly, the location is okay as well, I have never really seen this place too busy or with a crazy line. Which is why I ended here anyways last night for«Taco Tuesday» even though there isn’t like a taco special for that.

My coworker had warned me about he quality of the food. I wanted to try it out myself and I wish I hadn’t. I got the potato burrito with carne Asada. No complaints on the potato. But the meat was tough and extremely salty. The cooks need to chop up the meat a bit more as well. These chunks were way too big for a burrito I kept having to tear up the pieces with my fingers. So for the taste, and price I would recommend going elsewhere. Update: it gave me a stomach ache. I may throw up at work. Just lovely.

First off this is a Mexican place, with a drive through, in Tustin marketplace. I wasn’t at a taco truck in Santa Ana, therefore I am not comparing this place to the taco truck in Santa Ana. With these things in mind I am reviewing Miguel’s Jr. with an open mind. I went to the drive-through tonight ordered several things. Some I liked. And some fell short. Carne Asada Tacos– The flavor was good but they didn’t put enough meat. It was literally half of what I expect at a place that serves Carne Asada. Shredded Beef Crispy Taco — vey good flavor but really lacked quantity once again. I would have liked to see more meat in these but these were pretty cheap don’t i didn’t feel like I was getting ripped off. Been burritos — OK now I realize what all the hype is about. This is a main reason to come here, big, fat, busting at the seams bean and cheese burrito! Tostada — I got one with shredded beef and one with shredded chicken. This was my favorite thing here! Super crispy tortilla shell with beans, cheese, meat, lettuce and tomato. I doused the thing in their red salsa it was excellent! There is basically no quick Mexican food options in the Irvine/Tustin Ranch area. I am very glad they put a Miguel’s Jr. here I will be back.

I love this place. It’s true I haven’t tried everything on the menu but I love, absolutely love, the pork in the garbage burrito. It’s moist, juicy and filled with flavor. The tortillas are pretty darn good and while the consistency of the sauce is thin it’s very tasty(similar to what my mother in law makes at home). In other words, what’s the big deal? Would you rather have the fast food stuff in packets that’s a bit thicker? I don’t get that… Anyway, I think Miguel’s is good and the service is always prompt and friendly. Beware that this place is very popular at dinner time and can be crowded.

My hubby and I were hungry for mexican food on a Sunday night so we naturally turned to Unilocal to find something that was close and convenient. We found Miguel’s just a few miles down from our home and with the photos, the food looked good and and the fact that they had a drive-through was a definite plus. Located on El Camino Real near the In-and-Out and Home World Market, we pulled in and my hubby ordered the famous Garbage Burrito, and I had an order of Chicken Taquitos A La Carte. I wasn’t expecting fantastic, knowing well that I was ordering Mexican from a place in Tustin with a drive-through but with the prices, I expected it to be at least a tier above Del Taco. Oh man, I was wrong! The garbage burrito was indeed garbage. The carne asada meat was tough and in large pieces, not cut up which made the burrito difficult to eat. The rice was nothing impressive and otherwise, the burrito was bland and boring. We tried adding some of the salsa they gave us on top but it was a weird sour liquid salsa that didn’t compliment the burrito at all. My three taquitos were good but I didn’t like how they were smothered with cheese on top. Unless you’re desperate… don’t come here! There’s probably better food just a block away…

I love them and it’s not too far from my office. They have a taco salad with chips, beans, lettuce, and shredded chicken and guacamole on top. It is my favorite!!! The rest of my office swears by the burritos and asks me to order them for our company meetings. So far so good and I am excited to try the breakfast burrito next! P. S. To all the haters, it’s not super high end mexican food but it’s better than Taco Bell or Del Taco for sure!!!

Stop the hype! Came here for lunch with a friend from college. Ordered a combo plate with an enchilada, taco, rice and beans. The food was ALRIGHT. Quality was slightly better than that of Del Taco. Imagine if Taco Bell served their food on a platter with rice and beans… and charged you an extra $ 3.50! Seriously, it baffles me that Miguel’s Jr. portrays itself as «homestyle» and«authentic». I couldn’t help shake the school cafeteria vibe. Rice and beans tasted like canned food and the enchilada was pretty soggy. Nothing remarkable at all. Want authentic in the Tustin or Santa Ana area? Try Taqueria de Anda.

Tustin’s newest Mexican restaurant is the crossover between a quick-serve eatery like Alberto’s and a fast food megachain like Chipotle. The menu, loaded with variations of basic burritos and south-of-the-border fare, reminded me of cheap Mexican food that is accessible late at night. Miguel’s carries the simplest meats such as carne asada, chile verde pork, and chicken. Even old-school burritos stuffed with potatoes and cheese, a type that hasn’t been popular since the 1980’s, is available. Burritos are prepared in an assembly line, so they’re pumped out even faster than hamburgers at In-N-Out. Cheap and filling, fit for a working-class lunch. Very Albertos-esque. I’ve ordered the«bean, cheese, and rice burrito» as well as the«chile verde pork burrito». Both burritos were predominately loaded with refried beans that had been mixed with a generous amount of melted cheese, creating an overly gooey mixture that overflowed out of the tortilla shell. Chunks of pork was hidden in the center of the burrito. Although limited in portion to a spoonful, the pork was reasonably moist and tender. Unfortunately, the chile verde pork tasted like plain boiled pork, it didn’t seem to be slow-cooked in a rich green chile sauce as promised. The chile verde was missing the complementing roasted flavor of tomatillos. Fortunately, the burrito was not a grease bomb or chemically-enhanced like what is dished out at most quick-serve places, so it appears Miguel’s stayed true to its«homestyle Mexican food» mantra. Miguel’s hospitality and fast service reminded me of Chipotle. During my first visit, there were at least 5 burrito assemblers, 3 cashiers, 2 managers, and 3 servers on shift. I only had to wait 3 minutes before my food was brought out. There were a lot of helpers, considering this is a fast food joint. The staff were all friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. One of the managers even disposed my trash for me, which was unexpected in a self-service restaurant. Like at Chipotle, cleanliness matters at Miguel’s. You won’t find the dirty trays and greasy tables. There’s AC and the salsa bar is constantly wiped down. But how was the salsa? A decent salsa bar can sometimes offset the deficiencies in the main course. Unfortunately, the green salsa at Miguel’s was closer to Chipotle than a San Diego Mexican quick-serve. It was a travesty — bland with a heavily diluted consistency. Flavors were muted, like as if the salsa was reduced in water for the sake of volume. I’m not looking for piercing spiciness where I can’t taste anything else, but it was just a tad bit more bold than the canned tomato salsas sold at Trader Joes. The signature red sauce tasted like a thin peppery Tabasco sauce and was even more mild than the green salsa. Both salsas completely missed the mark.

Solid, SoCal style Mexican fast-food. A bit pricey but worth it for a quick bite to eat in the Irvine/Tustin area. 3.5 stars with a bump up to 4 for having Orange Bang and Horchata. I ordered the Original burrito(beans, rice, cheese, and meat) with pork for $ 5.09. The drive thru service was super quick even though there was a fairly lengthy line of cars and it was well worth the short wait. The tortilla was thin(almost transluscent in spots) and tasty, yet held up to the good amount of fillings. The refried beans were delish(no choice of black or brown beans) and the gooey cheese was nicely melted. The ingredients were relatively well integrated(as opposed to some places where all the cheese is stuck on one end and the meat on the other). The pork seemed to be cut up into chunks and was decent but far from amazing. The hot sauce(limit 3 small cups per item ordered in the drive thru) had a nice, bright kick to it without being overwhelming at all. You’ll find better, cheaper, more authentic(whatever the hell that means these days) taco stands in LA and Santa Ana, but Miguel’s Jr. is a good option for folks in this neck of the woods. I’ll be back.

I came here for the soft opening and ordered through their drive thru. They were training their staff at the time, and I believe the cashier informed me that they are shooting for their grand opening to be on Tuesday, May 12th. This location is right in the Tustin Marketplace across the street from CorePower Yoga, Home Depot, and REI. I’ve never been to a Miguel’s Jr. before, so this was my first time trying it out. I ordered the carne asada Famous Garbage Burrito(priced at $ 8.49 and lower for other types of meats), which had carne asada, Spanish rice, guacamole, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, beans and sour cream(though I omitted the sour cream). Whoa! How did I not go to a Miguel’s sooner? I would liken this place to Chipotle. They boast all-natural and fresh ingredients and that their chicken is hormone-free. It tastes that way to me at least! The cows are corn fed, though, rather than grass fed. The ingredients used were definitely fresh and very filling. Literally every bite of my burrito I had a nice chunk of carne asada to go with it. Unlike other places where you have to ration out your carne asada meat, this burrito had a morsel of carne asada in EVERY bite. It left me wanting more — and in a good way! The service was incredible here too. It’s new, so you don’t get any bitter workers here, and everyone that I passed through greeted me with a friendly smile and/or «Hi!» The drive thru was SUPER fast, so if you’re in a rush to get lunch, this place is your best bet. The prices here are reasonable especially since they have fresh ingredients, they take credit cards, customer service was top notch, and this is as good as drive thru Mexican can get. Good stuff and highly recommended!
