Wondering around on bikes exploring all of Tybee Island, my husband and I came across this beautifully restored theater just yards away from where we were staying. «Last of the Red Hot Lovers» was on the bill for the night so we bought two tickets online and added the event to our list of things to do for date night. Walking through the sea mist fog, through the doors and into the lobby, we looked around and could immediately tell that something was going on. People were jittery, holding flowers in their arms to be given away and overall buzz what going on. What were we missing??? After taking our seats, it was announced that tonight was not only the opening night for the play but also the opening night for the theater after being shut down for 50 years! A non-profit organization had spent the last 15 years raising the funds to renovate and reopen this amazing historical theater. The seats were comfortable, the play was portrayed wonderfully and our over experience was great! They plan on having live bands perform here and more plays in the future. The Tybee Post Theater is a must for your upcoming visit to Tybee Island.
