At first the service was very good. Our meals were served quickly and my wife loved the belt fried green tomato sandwich. I ordered the smokehouse burger medium and had to send it back because it was bleeding on my plate. Took way too long to get another and it was also undercooked. Sweet potato fries were great.

Had an excellent lunch here today. Fried Green Tomato BLT and the shrimp dinner. Don’t be thrown off by the fact that this is located in a strip mall. It is cozy, inviting, and the staff is friendly and efficient.

Sundae Café pops right to the top of the list when searching for restaurants on Tybee Island. We stopped by to grab some lunch, and we were not disappointed. A couple of people at the table got hamburgers, I ordered a shrimp po’boy and one of the kids got some chicken fingers. Not exactly an adventurous lunch, but the food was all excellent. My po’boy was delicious and the shrimp were fried perfectly. The hamburgers were a hit as well. The chicken fingers could probably compete with the multitude of chicken finger places out there. For a side I would recommend the sweet potato fries, they came with their own special dipping sauce, and it was a nice change of pace from normal fries. We did get a slice of peanut butter pie to go as it looked pretty darn good(and it was) when the lady from the kitchen brought it out. The restaurant itself is small and in a strip mall location but definitely worth your visit. Their dinner menu looked great and we will have to come back another time to try it out.

We ate at Sundae Café last night. Excellent service, wonderful food. We were disappointed that the Southern Oysters Rockefeller wasn’t available without bacon, but our server recommended the«Seafood Cheesecake» as an alternate. Delicious, as was the catch of the day(red snapper). The only negative is that it was a bit loud. The background music wasn’t loud, but the acoustics of the space seem to amplify diners’ voices. Definitely recommend this restaurant — if it were less expensive we’d go back this trip!

Fun and surprisingly excellent restaurant located in a small strip center. Decent atmosphere and great food. Had lunch with six friends and all the food was well prepared and presented food just tasted great — lunch menu was great. The steak chopped salad was excellent. The desert unbelievable.

This was our second visit to Tybee and our second time at Sundae Café. We really enjoyed both visits. The quick highlights are below. — Don’t worry, despite being between a gas station and liquor store, there is a nice restaurant inside! — The calamari appetizer is very good! Surprisingly better than any other fried calamari I’ve had. Lightly fried with a sweet marinara sauce. — The jambalaya pasta is rich and creamy with good seasoning. — The ahi tuna entrée was very good and an interesting combination of flavors from sweet to spicy. — We didn’t have room for dessert, but the pies looked outstanding.

We visited a few days before Christmas so here it goes: Nice: my son had the fried shrimp and it was excellent in every way. I had the shrimp and grits and it was also delicious. It was shrimp served over this big brick of grits. The grits were awesome and flavorful despite me equating it to a brick. My husband had the lobster mac and cheese. He loved it. Naughty: The prices are high IMO. This can take you by surprise since the location is in between a liquor store and a convenience store. The décor inside seems outdated. This doesn’t usually bother me but since the prices are high, the décor should somehow be in line with that. Great food but be prepared to pay a good bit for it.

Sundae Café is rated the highest to try in Tybee Island. I’ve went to so many reviews online to read about it. Besides, the Unilocal reviews were praising Sundae Café. Since I read that parking can be tight, we decided to walk to the restaurant since it’s less than a mile. The weather was clear and it would be good to get some exercise. When we walked in, we were NOT greeted at all. Everyone just stared at us since we were the only minority. We sat down until someone finally said give them 10 minutes to clear the tables. That is fine but I felt out of place. The waitress Kelly was nice enough, I cannot fault her since she wasn’t the one in the front nor was she the waitress who saw us coming in. She went out of way to greet us. We ordered Swordfish pasta. It was flavorful but too much cheese. The fried oysters were good. Buffalo chicken sandwich was good, no complaints. The side dishes like the cole slaw and fries were nothing to complain about. The food overall was nothing to wow. Customer service could’ve been better. Once we got our waitress, it was better. However, not sure if I would ever come back again. Not worth it for me.

THISPLACEISABSOLUTELYAMAZING!!! They have great customer service and the food is extremely tasty. The establishment is small and cozy. You should definitely make reservations before arriving. It is also super close to the water so, depending on which end of the beach you’re on, it could be a short walk.

Like most other reviews I really have no complaints about this place. My server was Erin who was great. I ordered the Jambalaya Pasta but I don’t eat meat and their menu doesn’t allow too much for that– you can either get the pasta where they substitute a cream sauce/oil or a veggie side plate(my mom got that) or a salad and my dad got the seafood trio which looked impressive(I think it was salmon, mussels shrimp on top of grits). My son ordered the chicken fingers and fries. Service was great, portions big, we didn’t, but most people were drinking wine so I think they have a pretty extensive wine list but I didn’t get a chance to look. Also, I would def make reservations. Ours were for 645pm and we showed up 20min early and they were still able to seat us anyway. Their desserts looked absolutely amazing but I was so full from my meal I didn’t get anything.

This is our favorite restaurant in Tybee… The food is high quality and delicious. Not a huge menu, but a good variety of creative tasty meals. The seafood cheesecake and sushi nachos are sooooo good! Steak cooked perfectly. Delicious mashed potatoes and sweet potato purée. Dessert is a must… Homemade and yum yum yummy! This is a classy restaurant, even though you’d never guess it from the exterior. Reservations are a must! Perfect date night place!

Fish taco wrap — Blackened fish, black bean and corn salsa. yumm! All it needed was a squeeze of lime juice. I had the coleslaw on the side; I threw some of that on the wrap too :) Hubby got the lunch special. Mixed Grill — snapper, shrimp, and scallops in a white wine butter sauce with a side of sweet potato plantain hash. Looked, smelled, tasted fantastic! Service wasn’t so great though. Walked in, the hostess stand was right inside the door, but no hostess… multiple people behind the bar, waitresses walking around… No one said anything to us at all. They just let us stand there looking around awkwardly for a few minutes before we were finally seated. I’m being a little dramatic, it was only a couple of minutes. They waitress was polite, just a little slow moving and kind of awkward. So I’d give the food a 4 — delish!; service a 2.5ish — not bad, but not great either. Over all. eh, 3ish stars.

Get the spicy tuna wrap! It’s mega-yum! Parking is a little tight, to be warned, but the portions are just right! It’s right by the gas station, but I promise you the food won’t give you gas. It’s just tasty, and priced right, and the people are very friendly! Oh, but they were spinning the fans backwards. They should have been spinning counter-clockwise. Also, watch out for their weird hours — they have a break from 3 – 5 from lunch for dinner.

This was a fantastic choice for lunch. The fried green tomato BLT was excellent and the sweet tea wasn’t overly sweet. Everything was just right, and it hit the spot! I would also like to point out that for a beach community, this is the only place with a clean restroom that hasn’t been trashed or filled with sand.

From the outside, you would never guess that this was an upscale restaurant! The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. The inside décor is nicely appointed, but not very large, so make sure to call for reservations! We were greeted and seated promptly at our reservation time. The server quickly brought our drinks and a complimentary plate of bread and seasoned olive oil for dipping. I ordered the surf and turf. It’s a 6oz. filet and choice of a crab cake or fried fish. My steak was very flavorful and cooked just right; med. rare; and the crab cake was very good; flakey and moist. The steak was topped with tasty, very thin onion rings and the sides of garlic mashed potatoes and steamed veggies were a perfect compliment to the meal. My sister ordered a House salad and also very much enjoyed her selection. This is the best place on Tybee for a nice sit down meal!

Really great food. Very southern options that were delicious. Not sure if we caught our waitress on a bad day, but if not, the hospitality of the staff could be improved upon. All in all, good food and reasonable prices.

We went with four others for an amazing meal in this strip center café on Tybee. It is nothing to look at for sure but the food is ah-mazing! We all had something different. There were fish platters, meat entrees and salads. I had the red snapper pan sautéed. All i can say was this may have been the best fish I have had in the past ten years. It was coated with a spicy topping and perfectly cooked so that it was moist flaky and white. I had the veggie of the night was was fresh and well prepared(not cooked till every last molecule of the veggie had been destroyed). My husband had the spicy flounder and it was a huge whole fish perfectly cooked and well seasoned. He ate it all and I ate all of mine not wanting to give a morsel of this delish fish to anyone. Even the bread was great — crispy and fresh. Matter of fact everything on the table was tasty. Let me warn you, the place is small. It is in an ugly shopping center with limited parking. We had a 6:30pm reservation and had to wait till the tables started to clear before we were seated at 7pm. Our waiter was great. He made the evening a delight with attentive service and correctly making all of the food adjustments we requested. Because people in the deep South are very social — the place is filled with happy folk who like to celebrate with some strong Savannah drinks and good food. It is a great experience and I recommend eating at Sundae but you must make a reservation to enjoy this wonderful experience or else you will be turned away as some people were the Saturday night we were there.

Seafood bisque: Creamy but not too thick. Had authentic chunks of different seafood like lobster and some veggies like celery. Not fishy at all! A great starter. Lobster mac and cheese: Comes with a side of spinach sauteed in garlic and onions. I would have eaten more veggies as a kid if mom had made it like this! Spinach was warm and there was only a slight hint of garlic that was not overpowering. The sauce of the mac and cheese was a delectable mix of cheeses and creams. Chef didn’t skimp on chunks of lobster. On top of all this were whole chunks of tender, succulent scallops! The restatement itself is small, cozy, and romantic with two rooms. By the time I left there were several people waiting in line. As mentioned, the restaurant is in a strip mall beside the bp gas station and convenience store. The restaurant sign is not lit up so it may be mistaken as closed. However, there is an OPEN sign that is lit. Parking space is small for the small restaurant. Be careful of speed limits here. A lady was pulled over across the street. I was pulled over minutes later because I was not aware of the 35 mph limit at the curb that changed to 30 mph.

Mmmmmmm! What a little gem! Located in a little strip mall between a convenience store and another store, you could quite possibly mistake this place for a dive. However, once you step in you are greeted by glam central. Woohoo! Ok, that might be an exaggeration, but it was a lot classier inside than it was on the outside. The server was incredible! He was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. I chose the shrimp and grits, and when it arrived I was stunned! This is not your grandma’s shrimp and grits. Think more of a Top Chef’esque deconstruction of the southern staple. The grits came in a very surprising deep fried cake that was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life! It was crunchy and well seasoned on the outside and creamy, cheesy, goodness on the inside. The shrimp was smothered in a spicy sauce that made my taste buds dance with glee. Yeah…I’d say this place is a winner!
