If I could give a review without any stars I would. We stopped in around 7pm the place was completely empty, we we’re greeted right away. Ordered the sliced brisket plate which was $ 14, and the chopped pork sandwich with one side for $ 9.25. The food is awful. The brisket was dry, the barbeque sauce taste like sour ketchup. The potatoe salad was the worst part of the meal taste worse than the store bought version. The only options for sides are potatoe salad, pinto beans or cole slaw. Save your money and time. The only up side about this place is that it has truck parking.

Good service. Good flavor. Not too dry. Sauces were good. Good portions for the price. Our group had ribs(great rub), sliced brisket, brisket sandwiches, pinto beans and potato salad. Good meats. Good sides. Quiet atmosphere. Interesting artifacts.

Food was good, but WOW! $ 10.00 for a sandwich plate without a drink. Another $ 2.25 for a drink!?! Will not stop here again. Highway robbery!

I’m enjoying the food here. Brisket is lean so it’s not dripping fat. That’s ok with me. Ribs are very good. Bathroom is impeccably clean.

Tender brisket sandwich. Sweet, tangy barbecue sauce. I really liked that that the barbecue sauce was self serve, and they provided a mild and spicey version. Charming atmosphere. Fantastic homemade pies. The potato salad was nice though not the creamy style a Louisiana girl like me prefers. it was a more chunky German-style. Very satisfying. My daughter got the chopped barbecue sandwich and was equally pleased. The restroom was extremely clean including the floors! The location was great in that we are traveling and it was right off of I-20.

Yum!!! Best chopped beef I’ve had in a long time! So smoky and delicious! The Bbq sauce was perfect too. Slightly sweet and tangy at the same time; a perfect compliment to some bodacious bbq! And the«¼ #» of meat on the sandwich? Yeah, right. More like ½#! Superb. Perfect with a tall sweet tea. Bodacious!

Decent BBQ but WHAT A PRICEYOUPAY. $ 16 for three baby back ribs and a slice of beef. Yes you get two sides but still. A $ 7 beef sandwich? With that being said. If you have money to burn you’ll enjoy. The pies looked yummy, they are made elsewhere and sold here. Pass it up.

Used to live in TX, so while driving through TX today I was excited to stop for lunch at a roadside shack of the kind with the potential to serve up some awesome Q. Good smoke smell upon entering the building, and just the right«ambience» for this kinda place. Unfortunately, the brisket was poor. Tiny smoke ring, very little flavor or bark, and it was the driest I’ve ever had, including my own pretty poor attempts at smoking beef. Sauce was decent(and very necessary), as was the potato salad, but TXBBQ is all about brisket, and this was inadequate. The only thing«bodacious» about this place is the high prices they charge for the mediocre Q. Keep driving…

Good customer service and bbq. We stopped on way to LA after completing a Google Search for«bbq» to satisfy my Husband’s craving. Sauces were good and kept warm which was an added feature– the hot wasn’t too hot. Meats were dry, need sauce but good flavor. Décor– eclectic, could use some dusting but very authentic. We came near closing, but there were at least 7 customers who were stopping in for pick ups. Liked bathroom ceilings. .but fyi single stalls.

You would think, with a name like Bodacious Bar B-Q, the food would either have to be great or lousy. Well in this case, it is Great. I ordered the Brisket plate, which comes with Potato Salad and Coleslaw. I was not impressed with the dinnerware. It consisted of styrofoam plates and bowls with a choice of a plastic fork or spoon. It was also served with two pieces of bread without butter. Couldn’t find a knife anywhere. That somewhat concerned me, how was I going to cut the Brisket? Well I managed to get some butter and used the spoon to spread it on my bread. Now, what about the Brisket? I was presently surprised to find I didn’t need a knife. The meat was so tender, it just fell apart. I give this place four stars only because of the dinnerware. If you come this way you will have to try it. You won’t be disappointed!

The food was ok. The sauce they use was what made it worth the stop. Tried the brisket and pork which had a good flavor but was a little too cold for my liking. The potato salad was awesome. Service is really great but very laid back.

Way too expensive and not good. Old woman at counter was about as friendly as a honey badger. There is dust on all the artifacts and dead bees in a beehive on the wall in the back room. Yummy. Got the turkey sandwich with potato salad and it was 9.50 excluding a drink. The only reason this place likely stays open is that it’s the only place off the hwy if you do not want Mickey d’s.

First off. A little over priced. It was okay. Lived in Texas for almost 20 yrs and had better BBQ at roadside stands. Husband got the turkey sandwich and he said he thinks it could of been processed turkey out of a can with no smoked smell. No smoked taste. I got the chopped pork sandwich. Would of preferred pulled. But we are in Texas. No flavor, not at all warm. Had to soak with the sauce(which was okay) for taste. The potatoe salad was homemade and good. Would of made a meal of the potatoe salad if I knew what i know now about the meat.

I LOVEBBQ and when ever i try a new Bar-B-Q restaurant i always try everything to make an honest assessment. The ribs were good an outer crispiness and flavorable rub but not the best. I would give them 3 stars. Sausage was juicy and not dry but left much to the imagination(2 stars) the brisket unfortunately was the worst i’ve tasted in a long time. it wasn’t dry but it was so un flavorful it was like eating mush 1 star. The staff was very nice and the environment was clean.

Décor was on point. Service was not very friendly or welcoming. I will try to come back here on my next trip through the area, but far from the best BBQ I’ve had and hopefully not indicative of Texas BBQ in general. I ordered the sliced beef sandwich and my girlfriend had the chopped beef… same thing before he chopped it in front of me. The meat was moist or greasy: I say moist, she said greasy. Not much flavor to the beef though. She didn’t like the BBQ sauce but I thought it was okay, better than a lot of bottled sauces. The potato salad was ho-hum, not much to say about it but it really could have bumped up my review if it were more to my liking. Two fountain drinks as well. Total for 2 sandwiches, 2 potato salad sides, and 2 drinks was $ 22.50 or so. Overall, I was disappointed in the meal and felt like I had gotten taken for a ride at a water park with overpriced concessions and all the rides were closed. I’m sure there are some regulars that really love this place but I would recommend going a little further down the road if you are looking for that epic Texas que experience.

Been driving by this joint for years and never stopped. Today was my lucky day and decided to give it a try. They have the best tap water in east Texas. The lady said so and she was right. The Bar B Que was equally good and I’ll make sure to stop here every time I’m coming and going to NOLA. Highly recommend!

I love BBQ! Also, being from Kansas City, I have had some of the best. I would not rate the BBQ at Bodacious as low as many of the other reviewers have done. It’s not nearly as bad as the say it is. I have had some awful BBQ before and their BBQ isn’t that bad. Bodacious is your average BBQ joint. They have good pulled pork, ribs, brisket, hot links, beans, and potato salad. I would not skip the experience and I’m glad I didn’t based on some of the reviews on here.

Bodacious may not be the best BBQ I’ve ever had but it certainly doesn’t deserve 1 star. It’s probably more like a 3.5 star joint and since I’m full of East Texas love right now, I’ll go ahead and nudge it right up to 4. The BBQ is pretty decent and the staff is all country friendly. It’s not the cheapest game in town but it’s a fair price for BBQ. The chopped brisket sandwich, with pickles and loaded with extra sauce, is my favorite and always leave me full and happy. I can never decide between potato salad and coleslaw so I usually get a small side of each. The fried okra is my husband’s favorite and it always comes out piping hot, fresh from the fryer. I have a vague memory of trying their peach cobbler years ago and loving it but I never have enough room left for dessert and couldn’t tell you based on a current experience whether it’s a must. Considering there isn’t much else to choose from nearby(by that I mean within 15 miles) Bodacious is a solid choice when a BBQ craving hits.
