If giving negative stars was an option, this salon would deserve it. I went to Salon Verve for a bridal hair and makeup trial and it was single-handedly the worst experience I’ve ever had. I arrived at 3pm, 30 minutes before my appointment time, only to be told that they didn’t have me scheduled until 4:30pm. This should have been my first red-flag, but I didn’t see any other bridal makeup artists in Tyler, so I went ahead with the appointment anyway. There was only one person working in the salon, and she had only started a few weeks ago. What went wrong with my visit? Let me count the ways… 1. The trial took 6 hours… and she didn’t even finish my hair! It wouldn’t have taken that long if the stylist hadn’t kept leaving to take other customers. 2. The other reason it took 6 hours? She couldn’t match my foundation color to. save. her. life. My face was 3 shades lighter than my chest, and when I brought this to her attention, she responded«I don’t see what you’re complaining about». It also took 6 hours because she had to re-do my hair after she gave me exactly what I asked her NOT to do(Shirley Temple curls). I even suggested that she do pin curls to allow the curls to set and she ignored me. 2 hours later, she goes«OH! I know what we need to do! We need to do pin curls!!!» Wow. thanks for wasting 2 hours of my time… 3. The stylist complained that the salon didn’t stock half the things she needed, so she started using her own personal makeup on me. Even after I told her it was unsanitary, she continued to use it. 4. I didn’t think I would need to remind her to use waterproof makeup for a wedding… but I did 5. After removing the non-waterproof eyeliner and then re-applying with waterproof liner, she got some liner on my cheek and proceeded to use rubbing alcohol to clean it off. Rubbing alcohol… 6. I called ahead of time and was told that lashes were included with the bridal makeup trial. But my stylist told me lashes weren’t included. I told her that I was given conflicting information and her response…“we don’t have lashes here anyway”. I then pointed out that she had some lashes behind her. Her response…“well we don’t have any glue”. 7. After forcing her to hunt down eyelash glue for 20 minutes, she came back and handed me the lashes and told me to take them home to apply them myself. what??? 8. I was starting to get annoyed by this point and told her that she needed to find a way to do my lashes because I paid for it. Finally she locates a bottle of eyelash glue that’s god-knows how old… and applies the lashes so poorly, I might as well have done them myself. 9. Can’t even tell you how many times she burned me with the curling iron. 10. The stylist didn’t write down anything of the products she used. When I asked her about this she told me «I’m just going to take home all of the stuff we used today so no one else in the salon can use it». Maybe that’s why you don’t have anything in stock to use on your clients? 11. After being told that I couldn’t use a credit card(because she claimed their CC machine was down) I paid cash and out of the corner of my eye saw her take $ 20 out of the register and PUTITINHERPOCKET. I would never ever ever ever wish this experience on my worst enemy. If the owner of this salon has any compassion at all, he’d refund me the $ 70 that I was forced to pay — only to go home and wipe it all off.

I love this place. I just had my hair cut and colored by Hannah and she did an awesome job. I told her what I wanted and she did exactly that. They are always super nice in there too. My meter was about to expire and they ran outside in the freezing cold to put money in it for me.

I recommend avoiding this salon unless you’ve had a friend recommend a specific stylist. I’ve been here twice and the first cut was not terrible but it was uneven and just not that pretty. The second cut(I don’t know why I went back after the first) was a disaster! I wanted an a-line cut with the shortest in the back touch my shoulders and then hanging past my shoulders in the front. I NEVER asked her to give me layers and I told her I wanted to keep a lot of my length(I came in with hair down to the middle of my back). Well, she cut all kinds of SUPER short layers and mostly on the right side of my head and the longest length left was above my shoulders. She should have told me she didn’t feel comfortable doing that cut instead of telling me she does lots of those cuts. The owner stepped in at the end to try to fix what had happened. She told me she didn’t want to cut anymore and to come back in 6 weeks after its had time to grow. They didn’t charge me. I’m thankful for that much. I ended up going to Regis in the mall the next day to have one of their stylists, Emily, fix it for me. Her and the other stylists there couldn’t believe how bad my haircut was. I saw in another customer review that Salon Verve is a teaching salon. They should advertise this and have an experienced stylist working with and actually teaching the new stylists. I debated about whether or not to write a review because I don’t want to hurt the owners business but I also don’t want anyone to have to go through what I did. Beware those calls where they are offering 50% off any service! That means the stylist is in training.

I will NEVER go here again. This is single-handedly the worst salon experience I have ever had. First off, I went in and wanted to go from a dark burgundy to blonde. I realize that that is difficult to do, BUT from the start the stylist should have said NOTPOSSIBLE instead of COMPLETELY stripping my head and sending me home with ORANGE hair when the ONLY thing I asked was that my hair not have any red, orange, or golden hues to it. I wanted completely cool colors. I returned the day after and they told me that all they could do was put another toner on it. So, we did that and it turned this horrid, mucky brown color and they said«Oh, it looks so natural.» I wasn’t going for natural. I was going for blonde. So I ask for highlights all over. I am now stuck with brown hair and COPPER highlights and I’m out of nearly 400 dollars and 9 hours of wasted time. Do NOT go here. They clearly do not know what they are doing and the owner is completely disrespectful. I am mortified with what I’m stuck with.

I absolutely adore my stylist Evette Tritt at Salon Verve. She knows curls and color! I gave her a challenge and she knocked it out of the ballpark. I wanted to go shorter and lighter with little to no maintenance. She came up with a stacked bob that accentuates my curls and I have to do very little to make it look great. It actually got me a bit part on stage for the Curly Monologues, they chose me and my curls! The salon itself is a beautiful open space where you can always view local art works. The staff is always friendly and professional and eager to learn. The salon is a teaching salon. I love that. They are a Redken Salon and are continuously going for more education and hands on instruction from the top professionals in their field. My hair gets the best part of that. If you have curls, Evette is a must try. If you are not satisfied with your color, Evette. If you are just looking for someone who truly cares about your hair as much as you do, make an appointment with Evette. Top Notch! Worth every penny. You get what you pay for…

Just to start I will say I have not had the best of luck with hair stylists since moving to Tyler but I think I found my place! I just got my hair done by Mr. V. And I love it! I will start at the beginning! It is in a great location and looks very inviting! I walked in and immediately was greeted by my name(this was my first visit) which shocked me but added that special touch! The desk attendant was very professional and courteous! I did not wait long at all! Mr. V took me to his station and did my first visit information. He asked what I normally do and every other questioning pertaining to my hair care. I got a #2 fade with finger length on the top. Mr. V doesn’t use clipper guards which gives it a really nice texture which I like. I was nervous about that but I have never seen someone with steadier hands. When he was finished he asked what I thought… I gave feedback… and he adjusted what I asked him to! It was very professional! The shampoo was great they use really nice products! He did my eyebrows probably the best I’ve ever had and it didn’t hurt like some places I’ve been too! Overall an excellent experience and I will definitely be back! It is worth mentioning all the charity work they do and the owner actually works there too! What a good TEAM! Pros: professional, nice location, good stylist, Mr. V, clean Cons: I feel like the eyebrow waxing is too expensive($ 15) even if it was the best I’ve gotten!

I love this salon!!! Candy cuts and colors my hair and I have to say hands down she is the best! After having my hair done I have never had more compliments on my highlights. I have been asked about 30 times who does my hair because they have never seen highlights that good before! The salon is a great atmosphere to be in and the stylists there are so friendly they make a customer feel at home! I would defiantly not go anywhere else to get my hair done so I drive all the way from Austin every 3 months!!!

Okay, so I’m pretty skeptical about that first review. It’s obviously the owner and that strikes me as a little sketchy. That being said, I had a great experience with Natalie. Service is good, and atmosphere is fantastic.
