I have been to massage many times, and this one was the worst. All I get rubbing 95% of the times. I did not feel comfortable laying down on hard wood bed. Sorry, I am definitely not coming back.

Was in town a week and a half for a business trip and my neck and shoulder was killing me. I dealt with the pain for a few days, but figured I’d go ahead and do something about it. This shop was close by my hotel, so I decided to give them a shot on an afternoon I wasn’t busy. I’ve found for acute pain like this, acupuncture has helped me out in the past. So I asked to see one of the acupuncturists. The acputurist actually did a great job! After I told him where I was aching, he had a good idea where to go for, for the pain. I think he poked me with about 6 – 8 needles, before I felt some relief. We spoke a little bit… he’s a funny guy and really seemed concerned in making an effort to make the pain go away. I went back a few days later… this time just to relax and get a massage. The massage was nice, but as another reviewer mentioned, the massager didn’t to speak much English, but she really did seem to try very hard to do a good job. If it weren’t for the intake form, I think there would have been more miscommunication. I think they use this form to try to break down the language barrier. It’s good to know that I have an alternate place to get a tune-up on my back and shoulders when I’m away from home.

The acupuncturist on site surely knows what he is doing as he made my lower back pain go away with just 3 needles. Out of curiosity, I asked him how the treatment did the magic and what I could do to take care of my health in general. I got the impression throughout the conversation that he had a wealth of knowledge both in acupuncture and herbal medicine. Before leaving, I also asked about the massage. I was told that they have an input form for the customer to fill out so the massagist will know exactly which part of the body requires special attention — a sure way to make sure there is no mis-communication. Since my mom has a chronic«frozen» shoulder problem, I asked the owner lady about that and she said she could fix it within 3 massage sessions. I am going to bring my Mom to check that out.

Felt like a back rub, not a massage. I told the front desk person that I was not happy with my massage and the only thing she could say was sorry. Was not offered a refund or a comp massage next time. Looks like I’m not going back.

I have known Kalvin for about 20 years. Kalvin is very professional, honest, and precise in what he does. He is very knowledgeable in Chinese medicine. I highly recommend him.

I saw this place when passing by a few times before, and finally was in the neighborhood today, so decided to try this place finally. Previously I saw banners advertising this place in the Marina shopping center across the street. This new spa is in a professional office complex, so it’s very unnoticeable from the street. It is also right next door to the Burke Williams Training Center in the same office complex, where I have gone to often to get massages from the BW massage trainees before they start their real work(I’m on their list to get test massages). When I first saw an ad for this place, it was advertising a $ 30 full-body massage. When I came in today, the price was $ 40. Maybe the special ended. Still, $ 40 was reasonable as that seems to be the going rate for body massages at similar Chinese Foot Spa places like this. They call themselves AA Rehab Spa as their services focus on helping you recover from health issues. Their service menu seems to offer several different services at various prices. I went for the plain 1-hour body massage, not deep tissue, as that’s my favorite. The massage was OK. The lady spent a lot of time on my back, which was great, and very little time on my arms and legs after I turned over and faced up, which was to be expected. A little more even would have been better, and some actual massage on the arms and legs, instead of just compressing my limbs from over the towel, which seems to be very common in the Chinese massage spas. The people were friendly, and I was the only person in there at this time, noon time on a Friday. They conveniently took credit cards, with no surcharge, with a tip field available if you wish to add it on there. The restrooms here were a little different, through a door into the hallway, as the restrooms were shared with other offices in the same building. The building itself is an office building, and they did a fair job of making their spa look a little nice and relaxing, with some good effort turning the massage room itself into a nice cozy room. They also have 2 types of Customer Loyalty Discount cards. A But 3, Get 1 Free card, but valid for only 1 month. Also a Buy 9, Get 1 Free, but no expiration on that. I chose the latter, and they keep all the cards in the clinic, to pull out and stamp again on your next visit. The staff speaks very little English, like other Chinese places, so prepare to be a bit patient. They can understand the usual words of «harder, softer» for the massage, and the words for the time, day of week, dates, etc. for making appointments, but not too much beyond that in English. I called about 2 hours after my visit as I remembered that I left my sweater in the room. After a few minutes of trying to explain that I just came in for a massage this same morning and the reception lady still didn’t understand me, I had to switch to my Chinese(which I’m fluent in) to explain my forgotten sweater, and she finally understood me and agreed to hold it until I came by again. Overall, an average visit and massage. It was OK, not bad, but not great. I do hope they can get some more business though.
