I love food here and head chef is very friendly. I personally like their veg fried rice, kung pao tofu, hot-sour soup.

I think I just found my new favorite Chinese restaurant takeout that is veggie friendly. They are a cute family owned business. I ordered a veggie chowmein, eggplant with tofu, and egg rolls. And OMG, they give huge portions! And I got 6 egg rolls! This was enough food for 4 people and all under $ 20! I’m definitely going to have to come back to this place!

Pine Garden reopened recently with the grandsons of the original owners reopening this long vacated storefront. P. G. is a typical cantonese old style eatery. was certain the special was going to be fab! WRONG! eats: special Beef chow fun(7) –huge portion of chow fun, some tender beef, some bean sprouts and lots of soy sauce. skimping on the soy would make a lot of difference. –chow fun also kind of gummy, not a lot of «wok hay» –disappointing but fulfilling, no msg tasted. take outs: –fab, courteous service –4 stars for guantity, 3 stars for quality/taste –maybe other cantonese standards are better than the chow fun. –eatery very clean.

Had a craving for Chinese Food went there to try it out this new spot since it was the old location of The Dragon House and I am very fond of the food. Service was good and food came out quick. The food … meh! I ordered the wonton chips, sweet & sour sauce plus their BBQ pork dinner. The portions were large but the food was not mind blowing and I love wonton chips dipped in HOT mustard and sweet n sour sauce. They only had those mustard packets and when I asked about getting the«house mustard» they looked at me and said I gave you the mustard. I tried to explain to them the mustard packets isn’t very out and I wanted the«hot» Chinese mustard and was told that is all they have. I was a bit disappointed on the food but I may try them one more time to see if they will be on my list of go to’s…

I like this place. The pork chow mein is really good. I liked the hot and sour soup. They cook everything fresh. The cook is very nice and came out to take pictures of the food. I think that was pretty cool. Obviously they take pride in their food. The server could be more friendly, though. Parking is dark and creepy behind the restaurant.

Since I moved to Union City, this place has been my go-to place, not just for Chinese food, but for every time I am craving an almost-home-cooked meal(those days when I don’t want my staple Indian meal) :) There hasn’t been one time when Pine Garden’s food tasted even mildly substandard. Right from their Kung Pao Chicken, House Special fried rice to their Stir fried veggies, everything tastes fresh and is always cooked so perfectly! Damn, even a daily cook like me can’t get her stir-fried veggies as good as them! While their food is already top-notch, I want to give an additional 5 stars for their top-notch service. Everyone working there(guess, it’s a family-owned place) is extremely friendly and offer amazing service, whether you choose to dine-in or take-out. Once I went for an order pick-up and forgot my wallet, and they let me take the food and were okay with me paying later. When I insisted that I’ll go back home and get the money, one guy said, «Don’t worry, we trust you» and asked me to enjoy my dinner! This kind of service and attitude towards customers is rare, and Pine Garden is special for that. At first, I used to think that I like Pine Garden, because of Union City’s otherwise barren restaurant landscape, but after eating there so many times, and having them consistently please my taste-buds, I can say that Pine Garden is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area!

This is a great family-run restaurant!!! The food is delicious and it is great value for your money. Pine Garden has the best fried rice I have ever had… and I have been to many Chinese restaurants here and abroad. My favorite is the #1 special with sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. I would highly recommend this spot if you are in UC.

I lived in union city for a long time and always pass this place going to the post office so decided to try it one day, ordered the Bbq pork over fried rice Terrible meat was like rubber rice was salty and hard, the fried ride was just rice with a lot of soy sauce, waste of my $ 7

Since Wok City closed in South Fremont, we’ve been on the SEARCH for good Chow Mein. I’m serious about a search, too. We’ve tried every Chinese spot, big and small, in the TriCity area to no avail. Noodles too thick, too greasy, overcooked, not cooked enough, too bland, too salty, this list went on and on… I was starting to feel like Goldilocks before she got to Baby Bear’s stuff. Enter Pine Garden… and this Chow Mein was juuuuuuust right! We’ve been regulars at Dragon House for about 6 years. Their stuff is good, don’t get me wrong, but we always order Fried Rice because we don’t like the Chow Mein there. We happened to be driving down Smith and lo and behold, the little tiny shack that used to be the Dragon’s home had a new sign out front: Pine Garden Restaurant. Hmmm, I was intrigued but the roomie was not sure… she’s a skeptic. I checked out Unilocal, decent reviews, but she wasn’t sold. So yesterday at lunchtime, we were totally jonesing for some Chow Mein. It was pretty bad, it was all either of us wanted so I pitched Pine Garden… my argument being that we had stuff for sandwiches at work so if it sucked, we could just have a sandwich. We decided to get House Chow Mein and the Mongolian Beef and some Egg Rolls as well, because I mean, come on, you have to try the Egg Rolls. Price came in slightly lower than what we would have paid for DH, so the skeptic made a face, but we still went and picked it up. Chow Mein: WOW! I was in heaven, and so was the Skeptic. Noodles were perfectly chewy without being overcooked or too thick and gloppy with sauce. It was CHOCK full of protein, plenty of shrimp, lots of chicken and a good amount of beef and pork too. Definitely not too oily, but very flavorful without being salty. They added mushrooms which was a nice twist on what we were used to. Definitely a 5 star dish. Egg Rolls: We got 6 in the order, very crisp and light. Again not oily, which is nice. Vegetable mixture was good, not great, but really good. Good amount for the price. Solid 4 stars here. Mongolian Beef: Good, but weird. There were a lot of bell peppers and white(maybe yellow?) onions in it. The beef was nice and tender, pretty generous amounts of beef too. But it was definitely lacking in the green onion department, which to me is sort of a staple of Mongolian Beef. I also didn’t taste much ginger or heat to it. The sauce was a little lighter than I am used to, and a bit too sweet. I mean, it wasn’t disgusting, but we probably wouldn’t order it again… I’d say maybe 2 ½ stars on that. I had the leftover Chow Mein today, even with being reheated in the substandard work microwave, the noodles held their chew and the meat didn’t get rubbery or weird. Overall, I am very excited that I have a go-to for Chow Mein again. We’ll try some of the other dishes on the menu. As people have mentioned it is a pretty limited menu, but it seems to have all of the basics on it. Worst case scenario, we get the Chow Mein here and the Mongolian Beef at DH. They are both around the corner from the house and the job, so no big.

I use to go to the Pine Garden waaay back in the day and use to order cashew chicken. I heard that they reopened again with the original owners and took a trip down with my 17 year old son. I told him that I use to eat here when I was his age but he didn’t really understand nostalgia… Well the chicken cashew was exactly how I remembered it, a lot of food and a little under seasoned just the way I like it. My son had the broccoli beef and he enjoyed his plate as well. It is a small limited menu, but the prices are very low, a lot of food for the money. They have remodeled the interior with new paint and opened up the dining area removing the bar table and stool area. Don’t expect fine dining Chinese cuisine here more like Triple D cuisine.

THEGOOD: Service is quick and friendly, prices are reasonable, and portions are very generous. THEBAD: I had the chicken chow mein and found the food to have minimal seasonings, if any at all. And as other reviewers have said, the food is not greasy. So if you like bland hospital food, this is the place for you.

Yay! This place is yummy. We got the broccoli shrimp, Mongolian beef, BBQ pork wonton soup, and BBQ pork chow mein. The star was definitely the chow mein – seriously the best I’ve ever had. I’m stuffing my face with it right now as I write this. So good! And not at all greasy, it’s chewy and fresh. The wonton soup was also very tasty. The Mongolian beef wasn’t quite what I expected, as it was more like a bell pepper and onion dish, but it was fine. I don’t like shrimp, but the mister said the shrimp was good, and the broccoli in that dish was perfectly done(not too crisp and not overcooked). I’ll definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu, and I think this will probably become our go-to Chinese takeout place. The guys at the counter(Susie’s grandsons?) were really nice & friendly, and I hope this business does well for them.

I am so happy that Pine Garden is back! A flashback to my childhood and now I get to share with my son. Susie was there to greet us and that was a treat in itself. She retired but she is helping her grandsons learn the ropes. We ordered some house special chow mein, really good not greasy, it had a lot of shrimp and meat. It was really good and filling. Also had the lunch special white rice with beef/broccoli and an egg roll. The serving was a good size we had plenty left over to take home for another meal. Chinese food usually sits greasy with me, but this was far from it. Definitely will be back, that’s a given!

Susie’s grandsons have taken over. I seriously left my heart with pine gardens when it closed around ten years ago. The original owners had retired. I swear Chinese food was not the same for me. word around town was that Pine Garden was reopening… What!!! Well my sister and I decided to stop in and the food was great! Portions were plentiful and delish. Price and customer service great. Planning my next visit very soon. House chow mein, two thumbs up. I’m not one big on writing reviews… But trust me … This place is a must
