The gentleman at the counter guaranteed me that I would be eating the best ribs I’ve ever tasted. I wish that was an actual guarantee so I can get my money back. The ribs were cooked well but had absolutely no seasoning on them whatsoever. I was given some hot sauce which I enjoy, but that’s not what I want on a full rack of ribs. Add to the fact that they packed them in the same platter as the vegetables I ordered. My bad was that I didn’t ask what the vegetables were. Turns out it was carrots and cabbage. So the only flavor that the ribs had were the flavor from the cabbage. I also ordered some chicken which was mildly seasoned and dry. I was given a salad, that was extremely large with about 3 ounces of dressing. Severely disappointed as I had high expectations for this business. I haven’t tasted any other items on their menu and frankly, I don’t intend to.

Average BBQ place. Pork is a little salty, chicken is kinda dry, but its what you expect form a place like this. Family owned and great service. I order take out from here once a month and I am satisfied because of the great prices and quick service.

This a a great plave all around from the food to the service! Food: if your looking for a simple choice the BBQ chicken is amazing, very juicy not dry and full of flavor. The fries are perfectly fried everytime. Recently my mother ordered the beef cutlet with spaghetti in red sauce. It was delicious, the cutlet was perfectly fried, not dry. The sauce in the spaghetti goes perfectly with the cutlet and gives my taste buds a satisfying pairing. Service: I have ordered from here many times, my mother usually walks in to pick up the food. We have ordered for delivery as well. Always great and fast service. Recently I wanted to grab lunch on my way home, but had my newborn son in the car, I didn’t want drive thru fast food, but I also didn’t want to wake him and take him out of the car. I called Burnet and just simply asked if they wouldn’t mind bringing my food to the car because of my situation, I was expecting to hear«no we cant» or to be put on hold and then be told no, however to my surprise without hesitation the girl immediately said«yes she would be happy too». I must say this just gave me more reason to continue to give them my business and recommend them to others!

Food is great! I wish they would serve caldo verde everyday because the soup is delicious. Service not so much, I usually come here and order a large platter for my colleagues at work, I always tell them to include ketchup, hot sauce, and utensils. They always tell me even when I’m at the restaurant, it’s in there and usually when I arrive back to work it is not. I started getting into the habit of checking before I leave.

Great for what it is… Platter decent size family style for 18 bucks– rice, fried, black beans and whole chicken. So good but sometimes long waits for take out.

Really great BBQ place. Work right down the street so I come here sometimes. Great food. Chicken. Ribs. Fries. Love it. The only thing is that the place is kinda small. No room for all the tables and chairs they have. But besides that I love it

My favorite Portugese BBQ joint in Union! This is my to go to place when I am too lazy to cook dinner. We normally order combo which consists of pork ribs, chicken, rice, and veggies(or fries). Yes, this is the best comfort food!

Very good food! If you like fish then get the salmon with rice! We usually get the ribs, fires and the veggies! It always lasts my family(4 adults) a few days. The reason why it is not 5 stars is because they messed up on our order countless of times!

Everyone in my town loves this place and I USEDTO as well. I ordered the chicken sandwich, I got a chicken bone sandwich. It’s made with chopped up chicken so I guess they are too lazy to take it off the bone before chopping it. I called to complain because I felt like it was made terribly but the«manager» couldn’t care less. He kept saying he «understands but it’s a bone in chicken» which I feel is ridiculous in a sandwich that people blindly bite into, why would you include bones in a sandwich?!?(And I’m talking a lot of chopped up bones not just 1 or 2 little pieces) Maybe I’m expecting too much by not wanting to choke or chip a tooth? Either way terrible customer service. I used to talk this place up but not anymore.

I’m not fond of «Portuguese BBQ» except for the fact that restaurants serve huge portions of it. I’ve been to Burnet BBQ on Stuyvesant but can’t really say I enjoyed the food. This branch seems a lot better. Whole Chicken with Rice and Fries($ 15): My main complaint with Portuguese BBQ chicken is that it isn’t as well-seasoned as a lot of people claim. However, the chicken at this branch was very flavorful. The meat was moist, while the skin was a bit salty and had a spicy kick. The portions are just as plentiful as other places in town; the rice was also flavorful and the salted fries were fresh from the fryer. I’m really hoping for consistency. The Burnet on Stuyvesant is pretty average, while the food at Nunzios just doesn’t appeal to me. I haven’t tried the ribs here, but I might give it a shot next time. So far, I was happy with what I ordered. Even if this branch doesn’t have its own parking lot, finding a space was actually easier. I was going to stick with the Stuyvesant branch but couldn’t find a spot since it was packed and, as usual, there’s a squad car doing nothing but hogging up space. Then again, that seems to be norm… never mind.

I never had Portuguese food ever. My co worker took me here and I loved it! Portions are huge and tasty. You can easily share the chicken and ribs combo with another person. The food reminds me of Spanish cuisine or something like Latin food. The shrimp entrée was very garlicky fresh haha. But I didn’t like how my rice drenched in the sauce, might want to ask them to separate the rice.

food is ok, prices are ok. delivery sucks @ over an hour all the time. customer service is at an all time low & the one delivery guy always has something up his ____. was a long time loyal customer, but this place has really gone down hill. Lots of other places that I rather give my money to

A great standby for feeding a lot of people. Really busy but attentive! Their Churrasco BBQ chicken is nice and moist and comes with a slightly spicy dipping sauce. Their ribs are similarly moist and delicious. For take out, their fries usually get soggy in the tin tray, but can be revived in an oven. Their portions are HUGE.

I was excited to see so many plump chickens roasting in the window… So you can only imagine my disappointment when I came home to discover I’d been given a malnourished pigeon. And I’m not talking about a Central Park pigeon… the meat was scarce and as a result dry. The price, around $ 15, is reasonable for a chicken, rice and beans, but tonight I felt like I paid that much for a platter of rice. I’ve been here a few times to take out and do far two out of three times I’ve been given the smallest bird in the house.

Very good food with massive portions. Real good Portuguese style BBQ, so don’t expect southern BBQ here. This is probably the safest place in Union since I swear the Union PD has a substation in this place.

The place was super busy! Good service, for being so busy. The food was ok, the prices were ok. Portions are good as most Portuguese BBQ are. Its quite small. I think Nunzio’s is much better as far as price and taste. Both places have good service.

I’ve been coming to this place on and off for a few years. Beware it is a small place with only 4 tables. If you come here for lunch you may or may not be lucky to get a seat. With that said the food here is fantastic. It’s fresh, quickly prepared and of course you get a MASSIVE portion for the price. They have everything from garlic shrimp, pork ribs, salmon and of course chicken! Don’t second guess your decision to get some food here and thank me later.

I’ll be honest, I do like this restaurant but not necessarily for it’s food but rather the value. If you’re low on cash and are just in serious need of eating something that will keep your stomach from attacking the rest of your body then Burnet BBQ is the answer to all of your prayers. Not always the most delicious as there are countless other Iberian food places in the area, but it definitely gets the job done. The restaurant is set up like that of a take out and it’s not easiest environment to sit and eat because of the heat and many smells wafting throughout the restaurant due to all the cooking which leads most(like myself) to order take-out. If it ever happens that you must sit and eat, the staff, in particular, the two ladies who take orders are quite nice and are always great with making recommendations and conversation. This place is alright in my book and I look forward to stumbling in on one of their more SAVORY days…
