I went to the restaurant, and the food was very tasty, but the service was slow. Maybe it was the time or what I ordered. But anyway I would give them another try, the place was clean and neat. The price was comparable to other establishments who sell the same level of food. The portions were right on point, not stingy or to much. The flavor of the food was really good, and the temperature was also good. We were in the area an we had other options, but we choose to go here not he reccomendation of a friend who had been here before. I am glad that we decided to come.

They have really good fried catfish, and spicy jerk chicken. I would order their fried chicken again as it was really good.

We were in the mood to try someplace new. Unilocal bookmarks to the rescue. This small place is a bit off the beaten track. Although it is right on 22, it is easy to blow right by it. Soul food is the name of the game here. Ribs, fried chicken, cornbread. Fried fish. My son had two legs and two thighs. I had ribs. Split some fries and cornbread. My son thought his chicken was great. Not dry at all. It may have been fried twice but we could not detect it. The ribs were nice and tender. Not overcooked. The fries were supermarket variety and unmemorable. Same with the cornbread. We liked the place. Unfortunately, we were the only ones there. We’ll be back one of these days.

Sadly, this place leaves a lot to be desired. I had the fish and chicken platter with mac n’ cheese and yams. The fish and yams were good, but the fried chicken was extremely dry and tasted as if it had been fried twice. Lastly, and certainly the worst… the Mac and cheese tasted spoiled and had my entire house smelly. I called to let them know that the Mac n cheese was bad, received a thank you and the young lady hung up on me. No apology, no attempt to resolve the issue — just a thank you and a click. Needless to say, I won’t be returning there. I’m sure they continued to sell the Mac n cheese to customers. A little courtesy goes a long way. This is why so many small restaurants do not last. Listen to your patrons and your business is sure to improve.

i was the only person there on a friday afternoon. place was a mess inside & the food was served to me cold. the guy in the back who gave me my order spent more time on the phone than taking care of me. he made comments like«if they want it they’re gonna wait for it, I’m not rushing for nobody» indirectly to me. he handed me my food and didn’t even acknowledge i was there. this is the type of guy thats going to hurt your business. i live 2 min from here, and had i been treated correctly & served good warm food that i paid 15+ dollars for, i would’ve made a repeat visit. no chance of that now maybe this was pure bad luck, but that day they lost a potential customer

Hurts my heart! When location was in Plainfield the food was well worth the trip. Even though the location was less desirable, the food was great and plentiful. My experience yesterday was disappointing to say the least. The chicken wings looked as if they came from a CG Hen. I was still hungry after dinner. The location looks in disarray and disheveled. The signage is poor and service is average. Won’t be in business too much longer. Not going back

It’s been at minimum 2 years since I ate at this restaurant. It Will Be forever that I will never return. I just spent 30 dollars on RE-FRIED Chicken and Fish and Wings must have been on crack on how small it was. Amazing how black wants to support black but this establishment will never receive my support ever again. Let’s not talk about how dirty the floor was, how dirty the tables were and the hospitality when we was about to give my order was WHAT! Not how may I help you but WHAT! In other words what do you want? I hate to throw our own under the bus but when you have hard working people supporting and spending our hard earned money to a business, I expect the best of my money in return. Two fish Five Loaf don’t even receive a rating The only thing I enjoyed was the potato salad. Thumbs up to whomever made it. Thumbs down to whomever made the rest.

I really wish I could give an extra star, but something was missing. Seafood Combo with Cornbread, Collard Greens, and Mac($ 16.95): You smell that? That’s a hole burning through my wallet after saying I would stick to something quick and cheap. I had around $ 25 on me since I decided I wouldn’t go crazy on dinner; well, that and I was just too lazy to head to the NFCU. Welp. Overall, I enjoyed what I ate. The two whiting fish were perfectly fried and did not taste like lard or leave an after taste in my mouth at all. The four scallops albeit lacking in size and quantity were tender and juicy. As for the four fried shrimp, the batter was not too thick and, like everything else, was freshly fried. Their cornbread is some of the best I’ve had. It was moist, buttery, and soft. The sides were a good combination — the collard greens weren’t overly briney and the mac was not bland nor salty. Also, hot sauce is a must add. It tasted great with the fried seafood. The brand they use isn’t too spicy — for me at least — so feel free to go nuts when eating. Fried Chicken: I was able to try a fried chicken breast, and sad to say, I was disappointed. The chicken was fried too long, with the meat being a bit chewier in some areas and being dry overall. Like the fried seafood, I don’t think they use anything other than salt and pepper because there weren’t any distinct flavors. Slice of Sweet Potato Pie($ 3): I was in search for Peach Cobbler but they sold out yesterday. Sweet Potato Pie seemed to be the better alternative. Each of the individual slices are pretty thick, so you will indeed get a chance to savor the sweet filling. I can tell these were homemade for two reasons. First, you could see a huge baking rack filled with hot and fresh pies and cakes behind the cash register. Second, you could see the stringy fibers still in the pie. The crust was light and flaky and tasted fresh while the filling was sweet and creamy. According to the owner, they have new batches of desserts every Thursday. Quantity and price wise, I’d have to take a couple of stars off. For $ 16.95, I was expecting a whole lot more seafood or at least larger sides. For $ 14, I could get a 13×9 pan of rice, fries, roasted chicken, and ribs at a Portuguese take out. I like the food, but the quantity was lacking for me. The location blows. It’s next to Red Wings Shoes and New York Café and Deli on the right side of 22-E.

My boy said the food was good here so I decided to give them a shot. Now if you in the mood for a good old southern style fish fry. Well here you have it. Everything is dropped to order(meaning I watched them batter the fish and drop it in the oil right after I ordered). The place is small so I can only imagine the wait time when its busy. But I had my food in under 10 minutes which was gr8. I’m so going back.

I’ve tried the fried fish, fried chicken and the fried shrimp. After trying it once we did go back again. The fried part of the order is fried fresh so you might want to call in otherwise you’re going to wait 20 – 30 minutes. I find that the fried items were seasoned pretty good. The gravy they used for my rice and gravy was really tasty. Your best experience will probably be to eat in because fried foods usually get soggy from the steam it produces from being hot and covered. If you can live with that your good. Just open it up in the car to avoid this. Your car might smell for a day but it dissipates within 24 hours. Give them a try. I didn’t give them 5 stars because the desserts weren’t up to my standards but then again I cook pretty good myself so of course I’m gonna critique where I need to. I only tried the banana pudding and the red velvet cake. Neither one of those two desserts is their strong point IMO. Doesn’t mean the other desserts they offer aren’t up to par but I haven’t tried them to give a review on them. I will update my review if I try an exceptional dessert.

I really don’t enjoy giving poor reviews but for this I had to say something since I tried this place out because it had such good reviews. I’d drive past it and never see anyone going in or out, so naturally I thought it probably wasn’t that great. But then I checked out Unilocal and it said the food was yummy so I thought I’d give it a go, thinking maybe it was a hidden gem. Turns out it was not. I ordered two orders of whiting and some potato salad and fries as a side. Fries were soggy and the fish was not at all flavorful and I didn’t feel super confident about its freshness. As for the potato salad, that wasn’t tasty at all either, a little too sweet for my taste. I didn’t enjoy this meal at all and neither did my friend. As much as I hate to waste food, we ended up throwing most of it out($ 20+ down the drain). Perhaps I went on an off day(Saturday afternoon) but I won’t be trying it again.

I Discovered Two Fish and Five Loaves, this is a Amazing place for authentic Soul Food. They freshly prepare each customers order, and my order is always perfect, fresh hot, and exactly like I ordered. There fried chicken, barbecue ribs, mac n cheese, potato salad, and greens reminds me of my Grandmothers cooking whom is from the South. The portions are generous, and the food ends up lasting me for a couple of days. There food is really good, and I enjoy every chance I get to visit, and get great food!

I just had lunch here based upon a friend’s recommendation. I had the fried chicken, mac and cheese, yellow rice and the coconut cake. The fried chicken tasted just like my mama’s fried chicken. My mother is from South Carolina. She can cook. It was that good. The coconut cake was so good I’ll never share. I’m not sharing the chicken either. The rest of the meal was fine. The fried chicken and the coconut cake were outstanding. Friendly service. The extra piece of fried chicken may influence my opinion.
