I’ve come back a few times for the jerk chicken on repeat since finding this place. It’s that good. You get a generous amount of food, including the chicken itself, for a fair price. The place is cozy in the sense that it’s family owned and a hole in the wall.

I seriously am addicted to this place. I have been going here for lunch during my work week almost every day. My go-to is definitely the Stewed Beef with half rice/half veggies + a plantain but if they don’t have that I’ll order the Oxtail Stew. Price: I usually pay 7 dollars and some change for the Stewed Beef lunch special — the Oxtail Stew unfortunately is not part of the lunch special so I think it’s a little bit more expensive — I don’t remember! Food: Food taste sooooo good and they are not stingy! I get a good amount of food in the lunch special — my favorite is the stew juice with the rice. Staff/Establishment: JB is basically a Jamaican take out place but they also have some tables for you to sit in. The ladies that ring you up are always nice. Tip: ALWAYS ask for the plantain — the one time I didn’t mention the plantain they forgot to place it in my order! Overall, this Jamaican restaurant is definitely worth visiting for some good food.

Tried to check out this spot after finding it on Unilocal only to find out they don’t open till 2. Waited around till 2 to then find out that they aren’t even opening for the day! Not a single note on the door or anything indicating this. Quite misleading… Will try to swing by again the next time we’re in the area… What a shame.

I love jerk chicken but not here. It was very average and not truly authentic even though the cook is Jamaican. I was disappointed and won’t be back. Sorry.

I used to eat here a lot when I was an undergrad at Hofstra University and I’m happy to say that this place hasn’t changed much. It’s still a hole in the wall but when I come here I know exactly what I’m getting. It’s a cheap($ 5.50 for the amazing lunch special) but amazing meal. The best part about this place is the portions they give you. They LOAD up the plate full of food. Not once have I left this place hungry. If you’re looking for great decorations and a bunch of aesthetics, this isn’t the place for you. It literally looks like they gave up half way on the construction but hell the food more than makes up for the interior. I work about 30 mins away and I still take the drive here during my lunch break just to grab some food. Their jerked chicken is definitely a must try as is their oxtail if you’re into it. The beef patties are generic. Frozen and reheated so you know what to expect there. If you’re in the area and you’re looking for an inexpensive and tasty Jamaican lunch, this is definitely the spot for you.

Food was better than I expected… I had the jerk chicken. It was cooked too much though as the outer parts were hard. The rice was great and the vegetable(cabbage) was cooked well. I would return for the lunch special.

BEWAREOFTHESECROOKS! I finally gave in and got back to this hole in the wall. The food is ok, not great. The woman at the counter is an crook. She asked for $ 5.96 for a lunch special($ 5.50 +tax) and when I handed her a $ 20 bill she started playing games with«you got fives and singles» and messing up the calculations and giving me a hard time with the change. I gave up, let her keep the extra $ and ate my food and left. WEWILLNOTRETURNEVER!

This restaurant is closed on Saturdays. Be careful. In summer, I and my boyfriend carve for Jamaican Bickle’s Jerk Chicken. It is like our summer routine to go there after going to beach. This is a small restaurant with some tables. It is not fancy at all. This place is for everyone. I go there on Sunday late afternoon. I have never seen waiters, and very quiet. When the food is ready, the chef calls you at the counter and you will pick up food and bring them to your table. We ate there once, but we prefer ordering take out and eat at home. Their Jerk Chicken is tender and flavorful. It comes with rice, beans and vegetables. Rice is cooked with moderate amount of salt. Beans are stewed. I am not sure how vegetables are cooked, may be sauteed. Vegetables are cabbage, carrot, bell pepper and tomato. Jerk Chicken is popular menu here, so once in a while, Jerk chicken is almost sold out by evening on Sunday. Therefore, my boyfriend ordered Curry Chicken instead. Curry Chicken was tender and good, too, but Jerk Chicken is the best! Sometimes when my health condition is not good, I ask to substitute bean and rice with vegetables. They accepted my request and I got a lot of vegetables instead of rice and beans. I appreciate it so much. There is another popular Jerk Chicken place near Bickle and we tried when Bickle was closed, but Bickle is still our favorite Jerk Chicken place. We won’t cheat on Bickles anymore.

The food here is amazingly good. I went to this place 3 times during a visit to Hofstra. The oxtails were flavorful and rich. The curry chicken was terrific with just a hint of spice. My favorite was the jerk chicken. The rich spices and the hint of run were amazing. All of these dishes came with rice and beans. Each meal cost me less than $ 10. This is a hole in the wall, family owned, no frills establishment but well worth the trip. The chef/owner was super friendly and helpful! I highly recommend this place.

If Jamaican cuisine is what you crave, then this is the spot for you. No messing around, no frills, cafeteria-like setting = great food. The jerk chicken lunch special is my favorite and I get it 95% of the time I go. I have also had the curried chicken, which is equally delicious. Their beef patties with extra hot sauce… YUM!

The Bickle still going strong and just as good as ever. Best place for Jerk in all Long Island and NYC. people catching on. Been to many place on the island and in the city and they are all dry and no flavor. Clearly theiy aint prepping and marinating their chicken like Devon is doing here. and it shows! Week after week the most delicious food I’ve ever had. Very consistenc product. The mark of a good chef. Stop in for lunch under $ 6 pictured here. You won’t regret it.

Came back again for the lunch special. Add Curried Lamb and Jerk Chicken to the awesome list. Also, had some hot out of the oven pattie it was delish. Lunch for two, two kolas and the pattie came out to about $ 17.

No frills place. Lunch specials are cheap and come with rice and beans, shredded cabbage, and a sliver of plantain. I’m a fan of the Beef Stew — but it is a bit salty. I wash it down with one of their«Tropical Rhythm» drinks kept in the sliding fridge on the left. Can’t go wrong with ~$ 7 for lunch.

Pretty decent spot for lunch — ok value for just under $ 6 w/tax. Walkable for Hofstra students depending where on campus you’re coming from. Portions are sufficient, flavors are good, and the meats are very tender. The plantain is sometimes much too soggy and the curry could use more potatoes than the 2 – 3 tiny pebble-sized bits in there. Rice and beans are kind of bland/dull if you get a dish that isn’t too saucy(jerked chicken). I regret trying the patties — supermarket frozen food aisle quality and have probably been sitting there for a while.

The curry goat was even better! It was small hunks of goat meat on the bone. With lots of marrow for you to suck out. Yum Yum. Had a delicious lunch takeout today. Stewed beef with rice & peas and plantain for only $ 5.50. Beef was tender and rice was firm not mushy. Every bite tasted of home cooking.

oh my, i think i found the best jamaican seafood place on the island. the steamed snapper is divine! they make a good escovitched fish too. but that steamed snapper is sooooo tender and soooo juicy. that sauce is so good. the rice and peas and plantain are standard and good here. the patties are also standard — i think every restaurant orders them from the same factory in miami. such a treat to have this place around. i am so surprised no one Unilocaled it yet having been here for 3 years and being right around the corner from hofstra.
