I currently rent from Sable Ridge I had gotten a letter about my girlfriends service dog and emotional support animal. When we were outside we ran into the lady who later turned out to be the manager. Later that night on July 6th after the run in we caught her peeking in our window. We informed her during the run in one dog was emotional support animal and the other was a service dog. She proceeded to ask my wife what disabilities the dogs treated and where the vest was which is against the law. A few days later on July 20th we received a form saying we had to remove one dog and pay for the other. When my girlfriend went in to talk to her she was very rude and said the fair housing act doesn’t cover emotional support animals and the dog being over the weight limit(which is 60 lbs and the dog is a 30 pound puppy) and she knew their policy so we shouldn’t have moved in. My girlfriend left and came back 20mins later to provide her with the registry number and the law. When my girlfriend provided her with the doctors documentation and the law she became very rude and then started accusing my girlfriend of not picking up after her dogs and that she let them run«wild». She said she was going to charge my girlfriend for this and damages to the property. We have been in the apartment for a month and no damages have happened. We also always bring a bag to pick up after the dogs. My girlfriend said okay I’d like evidence of this and that you are not charging us the fees since it is against the law. She refused to give this to her. My girlfriend left in tears and very shooken up, this needs to be taken care of. The lady we dealt with in all of this is Stacy Patterson. The rest of the staff has been friendly. We most likely will be contacting a lawyer for harassment and discrimination since we are now fearful of retaliation due to what Ms. Patterson had said. We now no longer feel comfortable at our residence because of her one not knowing the law and employed here and having the nerve to look into our window to find out where we live.
