This business is trying to rip you off and take your money. They originally charged me ~$ 850 to recover my data from a laptop hard drive that was damaged. However, I was able to negotiate it down to $ 500. So clearly they do not have a standard rate, nor do they treat all of their customers equally. Also, they make you sign an agreement saying you agree that they recovered your data, but they make you sign it before they release the hard drive so you really are taking their word that they fixed it! Plus they charged me a $ 25 shipping fee that they previously had not mentioned. When I got my hard drive back, I could not access the data as I had a Mac and they operated through Windows. They neglected to inform me of this and so I took it to the Apple store. They said the data was locked and could not retrieve it. After emailing back and forth about trying to figure it out, they told me to try it on a Windows computer so I went to both the library and a friend’s computer with no success because I had multiple types of files(music, pics, word, etc) which could not be opened under one platform! They told me to send it back to take a look. They never told me they would re-charge me. After several weeks, they told me there was nothing wrong and they just moved the folders. Then they charged me an additional $ 174 without my consent or authorization because they had my CC on file!!! I had no idea they would do this and after trying to argue it by talking to a manager, they told me they«don’t work for free» and avoided my calls. I submitted a complaint to the BBB and they told the BBB they had no idea what I was talking about. Then, finally after the BBB not being able to do anything, my father finally got through to Disktopia and made a deal that I would pay only $ 100 out of the $ 174 they charged me and 3 months later I finally got my hard drive back. All that trouble for moving around a few folders. Don’t trust this unprofessional company!
