I love froyo. A lot. A whole lot. But the only place(that I know of) near me was Limeberry and it closed a few months ago. So me and hubby came across Menchies by the Tacoma Mall, and although it’s absolutely excellent, it’s not necessarily down the street from us. We came across this place just driving down Bridgeport and I noticed the sign GRANOLA’S. I «yelped» it and sure enough… it was a froyo spot!!! You can imagine my excitement! We get inside and it’s neat and clean. Places to sit up front are high stools, or else way in the back are more tables/chairs. The assortment of yogurt is a great amount and of course the toppings section is an abundance. Everything tastes awesome and delicious! The guy behind the counter(possibly high school student?) is super nice and respectful. He’s always helpful and ready to answer any questions. This is now my go-to spot since it’s just down the way from me yeay!!!

No complaints! Fresh ingredients, friendly staff, and good prices. A little more outdoor seating would be nice but I guess this is WA so with all the rain that might not make sense.

I finally had the opportunity to try their newest location. I had previously been to the Granola’s in Tacoma and had a mediocre experience, so I was a little hesitant about making the lengthy drive to University Place. When I heard that this location had my favorite flavor in stock, I decided to give it a try. There were a couple of customers at the register when I arrived, so the employee on duty was assisting them and didn’t acknowledge us when we walked in. The shop is a bit smaller than the Tacoma location, so there are a few tables in the back of the shop as well as four comfy leather chairs. There are also a few bar stools in the front of the shop for those who want to sit at the counter and look out the window. Granola’s offers 10 flavors of self-serve fro-yo, most of which appear to be YoCream products. Some of the flavors on this visit included Peanut Butter, Alpine Vanilla, Cake Batter, Milk Chocolate, Pomegranate Raspberry Sorbet, and Sweet Coconut. There was also NSA Cookies ‘n’ Cream flavor which YoCream does not make, so it was either a different brand or a flavor they mixed in house. The fro-yo is priced at a competitive $ 0.49 per ounce, and they also offer smoothies for $ 3 with a free boost. They have a wide selection of dry toppings, some of which I haven’t seen anywhere else. Along with the standard fare of candy, chocolate, nuts, fruit, and sauces they have apple cinnamon rice cakes, bubble gum bits, cinna minis(some sort of cinnamon candy that resembles Red Hots), chia seeds, pecans, and two flavors of whey protein. I’ve seen cinnamon candy elsewhere but the others were a unique surprise, especially the whey protein. I would have to assume that is typically used for their smoothies. Granola’s also carries four varieties of Muesli for those who are looking for a wholesome and hearty topping. If you’re looking for something with a little bit of crunch, they offer homemade waffle cones, waffle dividers, and waffle«churros». I noticed that there wasn’t any whipped cream on the toppings bar, so I inquired and was pleasantly surprised to find out that it’s complimentary and is added at the end after the customer’s cup is weighed. What a nice bonus! This was another first, and I am definitely a fan of this concept. The employee was very courteous while ringing me up, and he had an outgoing attitude. The fro-yo was flavorful and much better than the experience I had at the Tacoma location. The texture was slightly firmer than what I expected, but it wasn’t icy so I was glad about that. I was disappointed with the overall atmosphere, though. Most yogurt shops have music playing, whether it’s Top 40, 80s songs, etc. That wasn’t the case here. Zelda was entertained by a Disney soundtrack, more specifically what I believe to be The Lion King. I don’t know if this is typical of a visit to Granola’s since this was my first time, but it was the only music playing for the entire 30 minutes or so that I was there. I felt like I had walked into the Disney Store at Southcenter Mall. There was a young girl hanging out with the employee behind the counter and I got the impression that it was a family member who was keeping him company; I have a sneaking suspicion that she had a hand in picking the music. It was definitely not the atmosphere I had hoped for, and it was the one and only time that I wanted to take my fro-yo outside and eat in the car. I still ate in the shop, but I quickly left as soon as I was finished eating. I’m glad the yogurt was good, otherwise it would have been a complete disappointment. On the upside, Granola’s participates in the FiveStars loyalty program so customers will earn a point for every $ 1 spent. They also offer a 10% military discount.

But I came inside and met karen I think was her name but she was super friendly and awesome the prices and variety of frozen yogurts and SMOOTHIES! You get a boost scoop of anything u want from their selected choices and their fruits are fresh also! So if you ever have a chance stop by because I know for sure I’ll be here more often :))

We have been patiently waiting for this place to open. The quality of the froyo is better than the local competitors. They are consistent with their product and have friendly staff. Definitely our first choice for froyo!
