First thing first. I don’t eat fish so I don’t know how the fish tastes but I did eat the chicken fingers. DELICIOUS! I can not even believe how NOTTTTT greasy the fish and fingers were… maybe a drip! I even squeezed my pieces in a napkin and had sprinkle of grease ! A+

Food was a bit bland to me. The service was decent. Not enough for me to come back.

I haven’t been to an H. Salt in many years, but I had fond childhood memories from over 25 years back grabbing some Fish & Chips with my dad on Friday’s during Lent. I decided to give this location a try today, and it all came back. The fish was flaky with a crunchy exterior. Perfect(not greasy at all, at least not today). Chips were average. Service was efficient, albeit basic. Bottom line: I look forward to coming back soon. Side note, I overheard the lady at the register say that theu have run the business for over 30 years. Pretty cool.

Lived close by for years and finally stopped in. Glad I did! Everything was excellent, fish and chips, shrimp, the tarter sauce and cocktail sauce, ALLWEREDELICIOUS! Why did I wait so long!!! Seems to be a local favorite as there was a lot of regulars there.

Despite being fresh out of the fryer, soggy fish and chips. Take my words with a grain of salt: I got it to go and it took me 15 min to get back home and I didn’t slather it with tartar sauce because I was somewhat health-conscious. Fries weren’t too great either. But everything was dripping with grease — like I guess fish and chips should be.

I just moved close by and spotted this place on Foothill and was super excoted to try it, loving fish and chips. Disregard all the reviews about grease and blah blah. It’s FRIED in oil. Anyway, with that said… it’s not greasy. It’s perfect. The outside is crisp and crunchy yet still easy to break and the fish is flaky and cooked well through. I’ve had lots of fish and chips and these are your above average, big portion, very tasty type of fish and chips. Something you’d get at a fisherman’s wharf. The fries are a medium cut and everything else I saw looked delicious. I will be coming back and will be recommending this place. I hope a lot of you Unilocalers can sift thru the garbage in here to find the REAL reviews. This place is great and something different.

Been coming here for over 30 years usually during Lent with an occasional drop in when I’m craving Fish. It’s family owned and operated. It may look dated but the quality is always there and the people are friendly. It may not be the healthiest food in town so if your nose gets bent out of shape about fried food then drag your snooty butt someplace else. You’ll help keep the line shorter for the people who enjoy their food. If you’re in a hurry and don’t like to wait, TOOBAD. These guys cook to order so the food is hot when you get it home.

Amazing fried fish and chips! Awesome service from the best chefs ever! Everything is made fresh and they are always consistent on their high quality products. Would definitely recommend this place to others in the future!

Awesome place close to home for fried, greasy goodness. There is nothing better than a mom and pop owned and run fish and chips shop for comfort food. The fish is prepared fresh and the sides are great. Watch out for the fried mushrooms though, they are delicious but super hot inside. Service is prompt but since they fry it fresh there’s sometimes a 10 – 15 minute wait.

The food is fairly good. They have coupons out but don’t accept them during lent. Bad business in my book. My business is not that important to them

Best fried fish and chips I’ve had in a long time. Crispy on the outside and delightfully flaky on the inside. I wish I could eat this stuff every week but I don’t think it would be very healthy. I’ll definitely be back for more, though.

Good, fast service. No veggies that aren’t deep fried. No lemonade, but they do have Snapple and soda. The fish. Was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Best fish and chips! There are some tables to dine in but most orders seem to go.

This place looks like hole in the wall, boy will you be surprised by the great food. The shrimp and fish are prepared fresh and hot. The chips and onion rings were perfectly fried. The tartar sauce is awesome. The store needs a larger seating area.

I find it funny how this place has been around forever and it’s so popular, yet no one knows about it. You can tell the fish is not that questionable processed stuff and every bit it is crispy. The hush puppies are my favorite part. The wait is not bad, but do not get discouraged if you have to wait a small minute. The food is made fresh and most of the time it’s just the husband and wife in there. Try it out. you will not regret it

Wow, I cannot believe I just read some of the reviews about this place. Written by MORONIC, STUPID, RACIST people! First off, it does not make a difference who runs or owns a restaurant! There have been plenty of bad ones run by white people. So, race and ethnicity should stay the hell out of your reviews!!! Second, this is a FRIEDFOOD restaurant! It’s going to be a bit greasy! That’s what FRIEDFOOD is! What, are you people who can’t understand that, on dope!!! OK, I’m done with my rant. The quality of the food here is great. I was very happy with my recent visit. Fresh, flaky fish, covered in a very crispy, crunchy FRIED batter. It was just delicious. I had the two fish and chips combo. Both the fish and chips were very crunchy and very tasty. I’ll take these fries over McDonald’s any day! Not overly salted like some other FF places. The hush puppies were like I remembered them when I was a kid. Crunchy, crispy, gooey goodness of FRIED spiced corn batter. Man, I had an entire order just for myself and ate every last one of them. The service is surprising good, considering there is just an elderly married couple who run this place. Now, they might not be the most interactive, communicative people on the face of the Earth, but what does that really matter? Not a whole lot. They are running, and quite well, a fast food(FF) restaurant. Their job is to serve you great quality food, prepared to perfection in a timely manner. There’s no time for them to chit-chat with you, compliment you on your pretty dress or hairdo, or that cool hat you’re wearing. They welcome you by taking your order, not screwing it up and get you out quick. If you’re the type of person who needs personal validation on who you are, what you’re wearing and need some ass-kissing to go with your food, GOSOMEPLACEELSE. Overall, this a great FRIED fish and chips FF restaurant. You SMART people should know what to expect. But, that only makes common sense. Too bad common sense seems to be lacking these days. R.I.P. Common Sense. Come here, it’s a GREAT place to get inexpensive FRIED fish and chips!!! Just look at the pics I posted! That should sell you on this place! :) Eet smakelijk!

So yummy on a cold and rainy day! Went here with my sister Madalyn and family friend Judy and got the fish and chips. They were so excellent… piping hot with crispy batter. To those who complain it is greasy, that is kind of like complaining that cake is sweet. Fried fish is going have some grease, is that not obvious? Anyways, the fish is crispy and hot, the fries are well seasoned; my only complaint is that the fish could use a light dusting of salt. Come here for great fish and chips!

Everything here is deep fried so yeah it’s going to be a little oily. And boy is that oily fish good along with the deep fried mushrooms and zucchini.

Been craving H. Salt for about a year now, finally my coworker and me found one in Upland ordered the two piece fish, when I took it out of the bag it was dripping in oil, I used about three napkins to patt the oil off the fish still gross, took one bite threw it out just to think how oily this fish was the fries were pretty gross too just wasted 5 bucks and some change on oily fish thought the Valdez spilled on to H Salt in Upland Lol just thought I’d throw that in.

I think this place deserves some more credit! First, I called and practically asked what the menu is LOL. We wanted to grab food to go but when we got there we changed our minds and ate there. Anyway, the girl on the phone was super nice and gave me some options over the phone. I ended up going with the«Combo 2» for $ 9.99– this comes with two pieces of fish, two pieces of jumbo shrimp, and fries. Pretty good deal! As soon as we got there, we only had to wait like 5 min or less for our food. It’s a small place, maybe has like 4 booths to sit at. Though it’s not the swankiest place, it feels more authentic that it kinda has a run-down, grimy feel. And I say that in the nicest way possible. When I think of fish and chips, I think of dark, mysterious English pubs lol. Anyway, the food was pretty good. Sure, it’s gonna be oily but I didn’t find it hoverly, unnecessarily oily. They serve it with generous amounts of cocktail and tar tar sauce, and hand over the big ol bottle of malt vinegar. But things seemed fresh. Is say add salt to the fries lol. One room for improvement may be in the cutlery– I found it difficult to eat on paper plates with plastic forks. The fish was falling apart when you tried to stick a fork in it and dip it in malt– I’d recommend using your hands honestly, lol is that just me? It’s easier for me. All in all, it hit the craving for fish and chips. So that people don’t struggle with phone orders like I did I uploaded pix of the menu.
