Picture this: Your 87 year old mother is minding her own business, watering the lawn when 2 men walk up and say that«ADT security is going out of business and our company, Vivint, will be taking over ADT’s customers». My mother sees that her neighbor, a retired Air Force colonel, has some of the Vivint technicians working in his house, so «it» must be true. To bolster their story, they have my mother talk to a «nice lady» at their office, who also intimates that ADT is a goner. My mother takes these 2 strangers into her house, shows them the whole house, then allows them to remove her ADT security system, which worked perfectly, and replace it with the Vivint system. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I called ADT security. ADT is still in business. I called Vivint. They said that the techs shouldn’t have mislead my mother. I asked if they would look into the situation. They said they couldn’t do more unless I had my mother’s security password. I asked about canceling the service. They said she could cancel the service, but there seems to be some kind of trick to that also, and if she doesn’t do it soon she’ll be responsible for 4 years of service. Vivint also said that their techs would come to remove their equipment, but they wouldn’t re-install the ADT equipment, because they weren’t familiar with it. I have never heard of Vivint before. Hopefully, after I get my mother’s security system back in shape, I won’t ever hear of them again.
