The catfish is absolutely delicious! It was seasoned perfectly, lightly breaded but crispy outside. The collard greens where tender but not mushy. My husband ordered the French toast, eggs & scrapple. WARNING: Order only 1 piece of french toast because they are huge, he ordered 3 and couldn’t believe his eyes. He said the scrapple was cooked just fight and the French toast had just enough cinnamon without being overly sweet. The service was great & the staff was friendly and fast and the prices were really low! We will be back, soon!

Amazing bacon egg and cheese sandwich… I’ve been looking for a place that did it like my grandma used to and good heavens did they deliver. Heavy on the bacon and cheese well cooked egg. All around stellar performance!

(4.5 stars) Craving fish & grits this morning… meaty, well-seasoned fried to perfection catfish. Buttery, velvety-smooth, lump — free grits(didn’t have to doctor them @ all), hit the spot! ½ star taken for the eggs(a little overcooked for my liking). Hubby enjoyed his bacon platter, with grits, scrambled eggs & white toast. Son said his french toast & bacon were good as well. Also ordered a side of fried apples… oh my, we all were satisfied, full & ready to crawl back in bed, LOL,(Sorry forgot to take pics).

This place is always packed on weekends whenever I drive by, so I decided to give it a try when it wasn’t so busy. The food itself looked appetizing, but what wasn’t appealing was the melted Styrofoam plate the omelet was served on.(Decent sized diner-type omelet, other than the lack of suitable plates.) The Styrofoam plate was paired with plastic forks… of course the tines of the fork melted too(I actually started to eat the omelet before thinking of the potential nastiness in melted Styrofoam. It’s not fine dining by any means — it’s a diner attached to a no-brand motel, but seriously… who goes out to eat at a restaurant and expects paper or Styrofoam plates and plastic forks?

Visited for the first time this week and was pleasantly surprised! We dined in and I had the French toast with scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. Best French toast that I’ve had in a long time! The waiter forewarned that I couldn’t handle the full order. Thick slices of Texas toast prepared just the way my grandmother used to make it, maybe better. My friend had the gyro platter and could not finish the whole thing. Large portions. Good food. Prepared fast and served with a smile. I was very pleased with Mrs. K’s and will be back soon for more. I was reluctant to write this review because I’d like to keep this place all to myself

Breakfast was absolutely delicious, My server was coueteous and friendly. Outward appearance could be better but you cant beat the good food and the friendly service. A lot of police stop in here for breakfast as well and the local people too.

I’d give this place 3.5 stars if that was available on Unilocal but as it’s not… it gets a solid 3. I’ve gone to this place a couple of times for to-go after checking out their website and the Unilocal reviews and here’s what I can definitely say definitively. Pros: 1) The food is great. If they got everything else together they’d totally get 5 stars. Cons: 1) Everything is crowded and a tight fit. You will find yourself shuffling around frequently while trying to order or pay for your food. Waiting too if you don’t decide to go outside and wait. 2) The website says you’ll be welcomed and greeted with a smile… I have been no less than 3 times and I have yet to see a smile on anyone’s face. In the entire place. In fact… You can just ignore the website’s «goals» because they’re missing that completely. 3) Customer service needs a bit of work… If you only want good food then yes they are great. If you feel like you want to be pleasantly greeted and maybe chatted with(Hi how are you today blah blah) then no… this place is probably not for you. Just today I watched some lady(maybe a manager or owner) come from the back to essentially reprimand a woman who had order 13 or 14(there seemed to be some confusion as to how many) sandwiches. She basically told her that when she calls in an order like that she should bring the list on paper with her so they can make sure they get it straight. If you’re like me and feel like you should get your order before the person behind you(you know… the one that ordered AFTER you did)… Then you might find yourself a bit peeved when that doesn’t happen, especially when you ask about your order and the woman tells you she’s got to help other people who may or may not have ordered(you ordered 30 minutes ago) and she’s handing off food to the lady that was behind you… So, if customer service AND good food is important to you then I’d have serious reservations referring you to this place… But if you don’t care much about customer service and you just want your food… yea this is the place. I introduced my mom to this place and she seems to love their food. Me personally I could use a friendlier touch but the food is really great. The moment that changes I’m out. LOL

If you want white linen, fine china, snobby clientele, and small plates with huge prices… this ain’t the spot! This is about as «Down Home» as it gets and it is spectacular! The service is warm, friendly, and attentive. The food is plentiful, flavorful, and huge. The décor may be worn, but this is the best damn breakfast spot in Maryland! Check it out… can’t tell a book by it’s cover;-)

This place was decent to get some breakfast however, the wait for breakfast to go was a really really long. The staff were nice and tried to accommodate their patrons as best as they knew how. This place is small and hot. On to the food… the pancakes were horrible… it tasted like it was made with corn meal versus buttermilk and as much as I love pancakes and I could not eat but one bite because they were just that horrible. Don’t be fool by the looks of the pancakes because they look appealing but taste horrible. The french toast was really good… the home fries were tasty along with my western omelet the only thing I would change about the omelet it was cooked a little hard which made it somewhat dry but the flavors were not overpowered by the dryness. I may come back to try their lunch/dinner options but those pancakes were just terrible!

First time there, left full and happy like Pharrell. Grits, eggs and corn beef hash, sweet tea. Plate was plentiful. Would come back again.

Service is very good… I ordered the Ox Tail. Mind you… im jamaican so I shouldve known better to order a west indian dish from a place that doesnt specialize in caribbean dishes. They put their own kind of gravy on it. it didnt taste bad but it wasnt authentic ox tail. But the breakfast plates that were shelling out looked delicious. I will be going back there to try the baked chicken and the smothered pork chops

I can’t think of anything to add that all the other reviewer’s haven’t already said. I ordered the French toast and it was delicious. The people are a little rough around the edges but lovely nonetheless. I’ll definitely be going back for breakfast.

Me and my family went to have breakfast. At first site you will think ehhhh are we really eating here BUT you will be pleasantly surprised with the food quality/portion size and customer services. We had Sam as our waitress she was amazing. She has been working there for about four years and it shows through her extensive knowledge of the menu and her ability to address any questions we asked. Bottom line go check it out even if you get your order to go!

The Absolute best Breakfast in all of VA and MD! Their French Toast and Turkey bacon are to die for! Great food portion, quality and taste at an amazing price! We also order a chicken gyro with onion rings which were both delicious! Kudos to the cooks! This place does not disappoint, cant wait to come back!

I returned here again to have breakfast with a friend and once again it didn’t disappoint. The food tastes as if it was made in your own kitchen. The home fries were very good and wish I ordered more. The staff and customer service is always great. Keep it up!

Great greasy spoon! This place was awesome. Very dive-y though! Please don’t expect anything but great food in this place. The Guy and I went to Mrs. K’s for breakfast. Upon arrival, we sat ourselves. The very nice waitress came by our table and took our order. I ordered eggs, which hash and potatoes and I HAD to try their pancakes. So I call myself ordering a short stack. What was I thinking? That short stack took up the entire plate. But they were amazing. But I digress, the guy ordered a omelette full of meat and they were accompanied with a plate full of home fries. We place our order and in less than 10 minutes, we were eating our food! This food was so good! I enjoyed every morsel of it. However, it was way too much food for one person to eat. But I tried to eat as much as possible. I will definitely go back to try some more of their delicious-ness! Love this place!

Terrible, terrible, just terrible. Ordered the turkey wings dinner plate with cabbage and Mac and cheese and was given something out of a nightmare. The turkey wing was clearly old, meaning cooked a few days in advance and was reheated and thrown in a to go plate with old brown tasteless«cabbage» and overly cooked slop with cheese. I mean EVERYTHING was terrible… wait the side of turkey gravy was good smh. I will NEVER return to this«restaurant» or even mention it to anyone I know. I should’ve known from the looks of the kitchen.

Stopped in here for lunch when I was in the area. I like Gyros so I ordered the«Gyro Value Meal» intent on enjoying the spoils of a well-rated Greek specialty restaurant. The meal was neither a value nor tasty. To give them credit, the staff was friendly, helpful, and patient in taking my order(I ask a lot of questions). The ambiance is nothing to write home about, but it appeared to be clean, and I had to remember I was in Upper Marlboro– Maryland’s southerland, not Bethesda or Potomac. To their demise, the gyro was one of the most dissatisfactory sandwiches I’ve ever had. The pita and yoghurt sauce weren’t bad, but the vegetables(well, it only had lettuce and tomatoes) didn’t taste fresh; the tomatoes were not even cut with care, having pieces of the stem still on them. The meat was even worse– not at all fresh, fairly gristly(shall I say«un-tender»), cut into large chunks instead of shaved off the spit in the classic Greek tradition, and dry. The fries were fine, but that didn’t make up for the substandard sandwich. So, I hear this place has good breakfasts. Maybe so, but their gyros are not for want. I guess you’ll need to skip them and order pancakes.

Mrs. K’s Motel and Restaurant is supposedly the ‘best kept secret in MD.’ They are located off of Crain Highway in Upper Marlboro, and the restaurant itself is small and modest, but oh-so-cute with an old-school charm. They’ve been around since ’09 and have been serving up meals for PGC residents and travelers who drive up along Route 301. The place was literally packed to the brim with limited seating(about 8 booths and 2 tables); there was a line, so we waited for about 30 minutes(which wasn’t that bad). There was another line by the cashier for pick-up/carry-out orders as well. All the staff here seemed so friendly and awesome; our server was Sam, and she was extremely sweet! My husband and I came here to get some breakfast(and lunch options). The menu offers items such as breakfast(served all day; eggs, corned beef hash, grilled ham steak, chipped beef, omelets, pancakes, French toast, breakfast sandwiches, etc.), lunch/dinner options(wings, mozzarella sticks, cheese fries, spaghetti with meatballs, chicken parmigiana, Greek salads, club sandwiches, grilled cheese, burgers, gyros, crab cakes, fried seafood platters, porkchops, etc.), and beverages(like sweet tea and pink lemonade). We tried the 3 Pancakes with a side of pork sausage patties(the pancakes were delicious with the butter and the syrup — the sausage patties were okay; cooked perfectly, but a little bland); a side of Corned Beef Hash(would have loved it to be extra crispy); a side of scrambled eggs; a side of Home Fries(the ‘wet’ version of home fries with sauteed onions; it was actually seasoned well and was pretty good with ketchup); 10-piece Pops Buffalo Wings(wet batter, but I loved their homemade chunky bleu cheese sauce); a gyro sandwich(the gyro meat was cut in extremely thick chunks — they were seasoned and flavored well, but I prefer thinly-sliced gyro meat); Smothered Fried Pork Chops(definitely a large generous amount of gravy; I thought the porkchops themselves would be bone-in and fried, but it was more fork-tender and wet due to the massive amount of gravy; it tasted more like pot roast); a side of potato salad(more celery-focused, but it was pretty solid); a side of collard greens(I really enjoyed these; slightly salty and flavorful); and, an endless sweet tea(unique taste, but refreshing). The portions are definitely generous and large, and the food itself was probably the better of the ‘diner’-esque’ foods I’ve had in a while; I just wished this place was closer! I’m thinking that I would probably just stick to their breakfast items, as I wasn’t much of a fan of their other lunch/dinner options. Prices were a bargain, and I definitely would love to come back and try out their other breakfast goodies. +delicious pancakes +decent ‘wet’ homefries +collared greens +housemade chunky bleu cheese(for wings)

Had been looking for a good eat breakfast spot for a minute and had been driving past it for years without a clue. On the advice of a friend, I stopped through Mrs. K’s one morning about a year ago. Man, listen, it’s now my go-to spot for breakfast. The French toast is on point!!! I get an assortment of other things like home fries, an omelet, various meats, etc. Everything has been pretty good. But the main reason I go there is for the French toast. I usually do take out, but the occasions I’ve dined in it’s been fun. The waitresses & staff have always been pleasant. They’ll talk to you, crack jokes & give you a small town feel. I tried dinner on two occasions and wasn’t real pleased with the food I ordered. I mean, it was just alright but nothing to write home about. But the breakfast got me hooked. Definitely check them out & get that French toast.
