Pittsburgh is now home to two standalone See’s candy stores. One is at South Hills Village and the other is at Ross Park Mall. Both stores are identical so my review will be on this one. Gone are the holiday kiosks that only had limited offerings during the Christmas season. This is a full fledged candy store where you can create your own box of your choice. When you enter they give you a choice of a sample of candy to try. You can then opt for a prepackaged box or make one of your own. The staff is very friendly and helpful with their recommendations. They will even let you sample a flavor if you are not sure whether or not you want it in your box. They do charge extra for wrapping«frills» but plain or checkered wrap is free. The candy is one of the best I ever had. Originally based in the West coast they are expanding their markets eastward. They do have seasonal offering that change frequently but all in all is worth a visit. Finally they give you a list of their regular candy with pictures to help you decide how to customize your own box.

We ran into See’s candies while all of a sudden my wife had a craving for chocolates loafing around in the mall. They have a pretty decent collection. And you can try anything, but gotta be decent. Aaarrgh!!! I couldn’t get the name of the lovely lady who helped us choose an assortment out of mocha, walnut, coconut and dark roast themed chocolate nudges but she was super nice. Although 12 pieces costed us $ 12 but we really enjoyed every bite.
