Received a gift from this shop of an assortment of their fudge. All of the creative varieties(like chocolate raspberry) were super-fresh and really delicious. Highly recommended!

This review covers the Wine Room of this gift shop. Although we love the adorable gift shop, we are not collectors so usually don’t shop these locations. But we had previously stopped for a wine tasting last summer, only to find the small venue packed. So we purposely went back in the off season(see date) and found it had a very nice selection of local wines. They had some nice dry wines, but we were more pleased to find many of their selections catered to the Midwestern pallet which is generally a bit sweeter. Wendy was our attendant and we found her knowledgeable and engaging! We had a wonderful time and brought home two bottles of wine. We can’t wait to go back; we might even wait if there is a line next time!

Just passing through for the 2nd time this year from bike riding in the area. My husband who does not like shops(what man does) asked me if I wanted to stop after mentioning what a cute looking shop. He stayed in the car. I love these type of shops with decorations and a variety of gifts. The shop had various rooms with adorable items. I happened to be there when they had a great deal of Halloween items. I have a staircase leading to my basement that has the moon & sun theme. They had this great Moon wall hanging that lights up. Love those type of items. They had many different types and this one just had to be bought. It goes extremely well with my other items. Moved a couple things around and this just stands out and gives a little more light for the landing area. They had a little bit of Christmas but can’t wait to go back later on this fall. I can’t wait to see if I can find more for a household with more than 20 trees at Christmas! Also the rooms are decorated tastefully & with much thought. Maybe I can grab an ice cream the next time…

This is a cute little gift shop right off I-80 that has anything and everything… in terms of gift shops, that is. We were heading out of Utica yesterday after taking a small day trip down there from the SW burbs and we wanted ice cream — the signage outside this place«Wine» «Fudge» «Ice Cream» etc. sucked us right in… the ice cream happens in to be in the smaller building just south of the larger building. In the larger building there are all kinds of gifts, stuff for kids, jewelry, accessories, and a decent size room with wine and wine tasting. The ice cream next door has a decent amount of varieties — I had an ice cream cone with BLUE ice cream, tasted like a cookies and cream something or other, or just maybe chocolate but it was very good. There are also other goodies to purchase in that building along with indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely a cute little place to stop in and check out.

We were just driving through from Chicago to Cedar Rapids and wanted to stop for a snack but now, I think, we’ll plan a family weekend to hike and stay in a local lodge or cabin. Super cute little gift shop and ice cream parlor. We will definitely be back. The woman at the counter(Nancy) was so friendly and helpful and even pulled out a map of the area to share her favorite hiking spots in the area. The selection of ice cream was great — and delicious. We would post photos of the New York cherry or chocolate mint ice cream on waffle cones but we ate them too fast. Yummy!

I love the Halloween decorations at this gift store! They have beautiful ornaments, framed artwork(with lights), and decorations for your home and for all the seasons. There is also kids clothes, jewelry, food, wine, and home furnishings. I HIGHLY recommend signing up for Art with Hugo. A local artist hosts a two-hour painting night on various Thursdays and it includes a glass of wine from the wine area of Cattails. It costs $ 35. I thought I hated wine but the woman in charge of the event and the wine area was helpful and gave me samples to try before it found my favorite wine: Red Razz. This semi-sweet wine tasted like fresh raspberries were squeezed into my mouth. Just look up Cattails and Hugo online. This is a great store with lovely, quality gifts and items. I think the prices are fair for the quality of the products.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. At the beginning of November they already had a tree up and decorations out, but the cold shoulder treatment is what really let me know that winter is quickly approaching. We were excited to visit, especially since they lured Karen C, her friend, and I in with the promise of fudge and wine; however, when we finally stopped in on the way back from Starved Rock State Park, they didn’t seem that excited to have us. The wine shop portion virtually ignored us, despite coming into the room three times and lingering. The woman serving wine to the current taste testers never said hello, or asked us if we were looking for anything in particular, or told us she’d be with us in a minute, or acknowledged us in any way. It was as if we were three poorly dressed ghosts passing through. The other rooms were pretty interesting. They offer a wide variety of gift choices from locally made preserves to handmade scarves and clothing. I was especially fond of the Irish decorations and we chuckled over the leprechaun cheese spread knife. What we truly came for was the fudge. We’d seen a sign for it on the way to the park and made it a point to stop in to check that out. We browsed the small selection and made up our minds. Then, we were ignored again. The display is located near the register and an employee was working there, but she didn’t come over to seal the deal and couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge us. The other girl went up to her and ended up being helped by another woman who couldn’t figure out the register. I gave up and left. Maybe they had an off day, but we didn’t get a warm and fuzzy feeling from this place. We might try coming in once more in the spring, but if it’s the same scenario, I won’t be making it a regular stop.

This is a very cool little gift shop. Whenever I am near Utica, I make sure we stop in. It is very cozy & has tons of trinkets. Don’t pass up the fudge counter! They have awesome fudge. So many different flavors! I crave it, but live too far away to get my hands on it as often as I would like to.(Even the fudge shops in Traverse City didn’t compare to this stuff). I have even come home & decided that I should have bought something when I was there, but didn’t. I called them & they happily took the payment over the phone & shipped it to me :)
