Doc’s Appliance Service

I have to question Doc’s billing method, and I did, but I was basically told that’s the way we bill. I dropped my dryer off. It was humming, but the drum wasn’t spinning. Let’s see, probably needs a fan belt. I was told I needed to leave a $ 50 deposit plus a $ 49.95 fee to diagnose the problem. At this time I didn’t put a lot of thought into why I was leaving them $ 99.95. I just needed my dryer fixed. A few days later they call me, and say it needs a belt. Really, what a shocker. I’m told the belt is roughly $ 22.50 plus $ 80 labor. I say that’s great I’ve already given you $ 99.95. I should owe you a few bucks. Nope, the $ 49.95 is gone. The $ 49.95 was to tell me it’s a belt, and now $ 80 labor to put the belt on, and put the dryer back together. Bottomline, $ 129.95 to replace the belt. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything worked on in my life where the diagnostic fee didn’t go towards labor. My Bosch dishwasher goes on the blink. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment, so I take my dishwasher to Doc’s. Same thing. I tell the counter guy I really don’t want to pay the $ 49.95 for you guys to tell me what’s wrong with it. Just fix it, and when it’s done I’ll come and get. No issue with leaving the $ 50 deposit. Nope, they tell me again that’s not the way they bill. I have to pay them $ 49.95 for them to tell me what’s wrong with the dishwasher before they fix it. Am I the only person who has a problem with this? I take my car to the dealership and they charge me one hour labor to diagnose the problem, but if I have the car fixed I get credit for that one hour labor towards the final bill. After all, isn’t figuring out what’s wrong with a car or appliance half the battle? My refrigerator needs service, and I know exactly what’s wrong with it, but if I take it to Doc’s they’ll want $ 49.95 to tell me what’s wrong with it before they fix it. Why can’t I take them my refrigerator and they just fix it without charging me $ 49.95 to tell me what I already know?

The crew at Doc’s is awesome. I’ll be honest; I am not handy when it comes to appliances. I am also the king of «googling» to fix. When I went to Doc’s appliance, they gave me the exact part I needed, and actually «coached» me on how to fix it. Have not had a problem since. Thanks a lot guys, I thought I was going to need a whole new unit!

GO TO… ANYWHERE ELSE!
I don’t even know where to begin recounting the story of just how horribly they treated me and how insulted I feel. If I could give them negative stars, I would. They discriminated against me and insulted me TWICE! I happened to be driving by one day and went in on a whim, figuring I’d conveniently knock out a quick errand.
After I explained what I needed done and what days/​times would work for them to come to my home, they basically told me that I couldn’t afford their service because I live in Detroit. Now, although I am a resident of Detroit (and a proud one at that) I am very close to the border of Grosse Pointe. Mere feet, actually.
After being insulted and turned away, I searched for another repair place for a few months but couldn’t find one. I finally broke down and called to ask if they knew of anyone who is closer to the Grosse Pointe area. The woman on the phone told me that they go to Grosse Pointe all of the time and that they’d be happy to help me out (she was really nice). After I explained to her what happened the first time and that I live literally right on the border she asked for my address and zip code and put me on hold. When she came back, I was told that they «have to draw their line somewhere» and was given the name of another place that might be willing to help me. Thanks but no thanks. I don’t want to work with anyone affiliated with such narrow-​minded bigotry.
For those of you who are scanners and not readers, I will reiterate. Do not take your business here. If they are in the position to insult people and refuse their business just because of some ridiculous, preconceived notion they may have about that person based on where they live then clearly they don’t deserve it anyway. To quote Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman; «Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.»

This company has always been very reliable and courteous during their appointments. Absolutely a great service!
Previously, we had been getting repairs from a different company called A&E appliance. They are are horrible. Please avoid them at ALL COST. Ever since switching to Doc’s, we have never had a problem, whatsoever. Also, they do offer warranties for appliances bought at Sergent’s. If you get the chance, buy that, because it will offer you absolute peace of mind, as again, Doc’s really do take care of their stuff.
5 STAR COMPANY FOR SURE!

So our oven blew out, and I gotta have my oven! So I called Docs appliance up, the lady was very nice on the phone, she got all the info she needed and scheduled a service guy to come by between 12pm-​5pm. Well the guy got there at 12:45pm. He came in and got my oven up and running in less than 20 min. He answered all my questions even found the cost of a part for my oven and he only charged us the service fee to come out $ 69.95. We will definitely call them in the future.

Had them come out and put a new seal on the front door of my washer: $ 280!!! Half of what the washer cost. It was $ 90 just to have them come out & I thought that would go toward the cost of repair wrong!!! No leaks yet but rip off pricing!

I was there this morning to pick up a part for my refrigerator and talked to a guy named Matt, who not only got me the right part but he showed me how to put the part in the correct way. Yea I didn’t have clue what I was doing but I got it done right thanks to Matt. Good service, reasonable price, but most of all the people really care about their customers. If only our politician were this good,
