I would avoid them at all costs. We have a huge order with them for a pharma lunch, and they act like when we call them we are bothering them. If they don’t want our money, we are glad to go elsewhere. They are the typical rude New Yorker types. Nikki especially needs to learn good customer service. I wouldn’t recommend them.

I love this establishment. They will satisfy the home cooked Italian food craving. Stopped tonight and ordered the meatballs to go and let me tell ya – brace yourself! One bite and you will be hooked; make sure you have extra Rosa’s sauce with them. The sauce was so good I just tossed the spoon aside and drank it down. Cant wait to go back and try the stuffed peppers! Staff is friendly, courteous, and professional

Very tasty lunch. Stopped in on a Saturday little before closing with my family.(5 of us). We were on our way through town and found this place on Unilocal I had the prociutto panini. Delicious! my husband had Italian cold cut sand which on their homemade bread. The sandwhich was huge. The bread was excellent. The server was delightful and even gave each of us complimentary fried dough for dessert:) this was a great find. Authentic Italian cooking. They just remodeled to add a room for seating about 8 tables.

Get the Meatballs! Rosa’s is the place I go to have a «home cooked» meal. They’re always very accomodating, and the food is tasty. It’s not an eat in restaurant, like others have said, and at lunch time Id recommend calling ahead.

This place is GREAT. It’s set up and designed for take out. They squeezed in about 5 tables for people to sit down — — but it’s not a sit down restaurant — — so don’t expect that. One review mentioned in-consistent contents of a sub. Well. just tell them how you want it made and you will get it exactly made that way. It’s not portion control and they don’t make things from a set of instructions. One review said they got one hot pepper on a sub on day and many another day. Well, I know these cooks — and if they know you like a lot of peppers that’s what you’ll get. If the peppers are really hot — they may put only one long hot on. If they are mild — they may put three one. It’s not portion control, it’s more like going to your Aunt’s house or a relatives house to get some food. Bottom line — the food is great, they will make it the way you want, prices are excellent. If you want to stay and eat there — it’s not fine dining, it’s just great food. Easily five stars!

Their subs are the absolute best in the area. Wow. I think about them in my sleep — they are that good. And the prices are affordable for the size of them. My only complaint about Rosa’s is the hours. They are only open for a short time in the day — closing at 3 on most days. And they are closed Sunday and Monday. I don’t get the abbreviated hours of Utica restaurants — it’s like nobody wants to make any money around here. So, if you try out Rosa’s make sure you go early — they just might be open :(

I tried the sausage bread from here and was pretty disappointed. First of all there’s way too much sausage in there, that it falls apart when you try to cut off a slice and eat it. The taste isn’t that great either, I kind of wish there was more to it. The sausage is very dry and I feel that they should flavor it differently.

I hate that I have to give this deli two stars. The ladies here have so many great things going for them, but simple details really knock it down. First, the good: Their subs are incredible. Both quality, quantity and price. You can get a small(probably 9″+) roast beef sub for $ 3.75. That’s lunch, and possible a little left over depending on your hunger. They have delicious homemade chicken soup, and their panini sandwiches, while a bit more expensive, are tasty as well. But the problems come once you step in the door to get said food. First of all, the inside is tiny. Maybe 5 tables, all too close to each other, constantly occupied by people who lounge around after they finish their food, like there isn’t a line of people waiting for their food to sit down. You could argue that it isn’t the fault of the owners, but they don’t have a problem enforcing other bad policies(more on that later), so they certainly should have some sort of time limit for seating during lunch hours. And the condition on the food being good; it *is* good, if they get your order right. I’ve had a number of occasions when my orders aren’t made right. I had a turkey sub with long hots once. They put *one* long hot on it. A friend of mine who got the same thing? Loaded up with the peppers. A friend of mine is constantly having issues with his orders. And this is a place that my workplace goes to often; you would think they would take care of their frequent customers a little better. And speaking of their policies; they have two that are infuriating. 1) They require a minimum order of $ 10 in order for you to use your credit card. Anyone who knows anything about merchant/credit card business dealings knows that this is strictly forbidden by credit card companies. If you’re going to accept plastic, you have to treat it same as cash. I actually went through the process of reporting them to MasterCard, but surprise surprise, the website to do so was having difficulties, so I gave up. Secondly is a the coupon book deal. The Utica-Rome area has a coupon book that local businesses donate coupons to as a sort of sponsorship. A 3rd party group(scouts, high school sports teams, etc) sells the books for fundraising. Rosa’s stopped honoring their coupons before the expiration date, «due to cost issues». AFTER you had already bought the coupon book. I’m pretty sure once you sell a coupon without stipulation, you cannot make it up on the fly. I found this practice dirty and really had me questioning if I would attend in the future. I’ve since moved to the west coast, but Rosa’s, despite the good food(if your order is right), is a place that I won’t be taking the time to visit next time I head back east.
