A. Townsend Concrete

I had A. Townsend do a driveway extension about a year ago which consisted of widening my existing driveway and extending it into the side yard of my residence. I just had the standard brushed concrete done. I was very happy with the results! They were professional and prompt. That’s hard to find with contractors these days! They did the work on time and spent a lot of time answering all my questions. They also didn’t cut ANY corners… it was quality work. The only thing I didn’t like was that they left a large stump for me to deal with that they had pulled out of the ground. It would have been nice if they took care of disposing of it prior to leaving. Oh well, small price to pay for the rest of my experience being flawless. I would definitely use them again for future projects!

I hired Townsend to install a large second driveway extending into my side yard. I chose them because they are local and I’ve seen them around forever. I was first impressed with how easy it was to get an estimate. I emailed from their website and received a response the same day and we met the next day. Andy was on time and was great answering my questions. The price was very fair, I did get two other estimates. When the work started I was really impressed with how fast they were able to make progress. Some old concrete had to be removed and they broke it up and hauled it away. That same day they dug out a bunch of dirt and hauled it away and brought in base rock for the driveway. I was very happy that before they left for the day they took time to clean up the sidewalk and street in front of my house. The next day they installed a bunch of rebar. On the third day they poured the concrete and I am very happy with my new driveway.

Again Mr. Townsends statements are untrue. My father did not pay them my wife did, and there was never a time I admitted everything was my fault. I have always said that I followed the directions given to me.
The bottom line is as they have pointed out to me several times that I signed a contract that makes them not responsible. Just cause this is the way it is does not make mean that it is the right way to do business. If they took 20min to really look at the situation from the customers point of view they might understand. When you are a one trick pony and all you do is concrete you should be able to look at concrete and know exactly what is the issue. Continuing to say it is curing for several months then say it is still curing for another couple months is just a way to keep putting off the real problem.
I can continue to go tit for tat against everything that was said by Andrew or Andy I am still not sure who I am dealing with half the time, but it is a waist of time at this point. Mr. Townsend was correct in saying I believe people should own up to their mistakes so I will. It was a mistake for me to hire A. Townsend Construction for my project. My «options as a consumer» are exactly this. I can do my best to prevent this same issue happening to another customer by sharing my experience on Unilocal,Angies list, and contacting the BBB and State licensing board.
