Amazing service, great food and good prices. Soft shell crab is a must and the rolls are so great the golden dragon roll was amazing!

Went to Ayame sushi today(3−2−16) for lunch with my family and it was delicious. For an appetizer we had the cucumber salad not sure what they call it but it was very tasty we also had the vegetable tempura which was also really good. For our main meal we had the volcano roll, lion king, and the crunchy monkey. We were not disappointed at all the food was amazing and the woman who served us was very nice and funny. We will definitely be back soon…

Good environment, clean and well kept. Food was AMAZING! I recommend the Sashimi, the fish melts in your mouth! I loved the Betty Bs roll! Happy Hour has very decent and WELLWORTHIT prices, AND is 530p to 930p EVERYDAY! To top it all off, the service was great! The guys behind the bar creating the rolls were socializing with the customers, and our waitress was such a delight! Super friendly and for being the ONLY person waiting the tables at the time, we didnt have much of a wait for ANY of our orders. We will definitely be back!

I was craving sushi… being from Hawaii and then living in SF, I was worried that this would be another so-so place… So not the case. We had hot tea all around, ordered the children’s bento box chicken katsu(which came with edamame), veggie tempura bento box, sashimi deluxe plate(came with Cali roll), crazy roll(a must get), Philly roll and baked scalloped roll. Yeah, we will be back! Next time more on the rolls!

AVOCADOBOMBS! These are pretty much worth coming here. Not only are they delicious but they are also little works of art. The ambiance here is really nice, classy, and clean which helps. Overall the fish was fresh and tasty. On one occasion I was surprise at the generous size of the Sashimi, and I was not complaining. I have not tried too many of the special rolls, but the one I did was decent. Although good in certain aspects I have a few complaints and/or feedback that contributed to the 3 starts instead of four. 1) They have a lack of sauces, marinates; this would not be a problem, except certain things were dry e.g. salmon teriyaki and lacking in flavor e.g. salmon rolls. I am used to certain Sushi places(Sushi Sam’s Edomata. Yes, I know it’s unfair to compare all sushi places to Sam’s, but oh how it goes in my life’s book) adding a little extra something to their fish. 2) If as a customer I ask for salt or anything else, I should not be «judged» or told«that’s a Chinese restaurant.» Obviously something is not up to par and I would like to improve it.3) Service, although friendly staff, it lacked in attention. The waiter actually brought our appetizer after the meal and would take even longer check-in and bringing our request to the table. Overall I think it is extremely hard to find decent sushi restaurants in this part of the bay area and I would say that Ayame is one of the best in the area if you need your sushi fix. I will be returning, and making it my go to sushi place close to home.

Place is closed for a bit. Didn’t figure that one out until I saw this sign on the door. Will return at a later date, but until then…

It felt like this place was a hole in the wall. Not sure if this place is new or not much people has heard about it. But this place is awesome! Went during lunch and there was nobody at the time. Service was excellent; super friendly and smiled a lot. Parking is not too bad because they’re in a shopping center. As for the inside, everything was clean. Ordered what was popular and that was the avocado bombs and girlyman roll, along with orange blossom and the lunch special. The girlyman roll is definitely something to try, it’s different and it’s creative. Everything was delicious! It’s hard to find a legit sushi spot in the area, but this restaurant is it. The pricing was average too. Check this place out, it’s worth it.

I knew I was going to be in the area for dinner so I did a little research ahead of time looking for a good sushi restaurant. I had high hopes for this place, & while it was not terrible it really fell short of my expectations. I’ll talk about the food first. We ordered three different rolls as well as pepperfin. The pepperfin was probably the best thing we ordered & something I would recommend from this place. The sauce it was in was just the right amount so that it complemented as opposed to overpowering the flavor of the albacore. Also I could tell the fish was fresh. In terms of rolls, we were all in the mood for spicy, so we ordered three rolls that according to the menu were supposed to be spicy but none of which actually were were at all. As a Mexican woman it is especially painful when you order the spicy, you’re so ready for the spicy but then they don’t deliver. Aside from that issue, the rolls were fine but nothing to rave about. Now to talk about the service at this place. We walked in around 7:30pm on a Saturday night & it was not busy at all so we were seated right away which was nice. The waitress was very sweet but she really dropped the ball a few times. First, she never once came on her own to refill our waters, we had to flag her down a few times to get refills. We also ordered sake which after checking our id’s & everything she completely forgot about. Eventually, after a lot of time had passed we flagged her down to cancel the order & that’s when she realized she had forgotten all about it. All in all, this is not an experience that would makes me want to return. Like I said it wasn’t a terrible experience & maybe they just had a bad night, but if I am in the area again I’ll likely be scouting out another place.

Place isn’t easy to find if you’re not from the area. The interior is really nice. Food? It’s alright. There are far better sushi joints that can give more flavor for the same price. Chicken teriyaki was really tender though. Salad was good as well. However, they messed up my bento. But they apologized by giving me another bento with all the components exactly as I ordered haha, so that was nice. Overall, a good Japanese restaurant but I do not see myself coming back. Service: 3⁄5 Food: 3⁄5 Ambiance: 5⁄5

Delicious! We got the avocado bomb, the girly man and the spicy rainbow. Loved all of it. You got to try the girly man. This is our first time here Great customer service. It was quick to get our food. They made sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our food. Even the cook asked us how we liked everything. I had to give 5 stars because there was not one thing I could complain about. I’ll be back here soon

It was the next closest sushi place in proximity that wasn’t about to close by 2 P.M. Did we settle? Yea, considering we’ve never heard of the place. Although a little expectation was held glancing at their 4-star rating. When you’re craving sushi you gotta go when you gotta go! Hawaiian Tuna Poke($ 11) — diced tuna mixed with avocado, cucumber, onion, masago on a bed of wakame garnish with ginger. Baked Scallop [Ayame Special Roll]($ 11) — California roll baked with salmon, unagi sauce, green onion and masago. It wasn’t bad. Nor was it the best. Just standard. I know I neglected to order«sushi» sushi, but simply based on my roll I’ve had better elsewhere consisting of relatively similar ingredients. Service was attentive and quick. I’d come back to try their sashimi and other appetizers(Tuna Tartar, Pepperfin, Tako Sunomono), maybe if I was around the area and placed in the same situation. Sushi cravings FTW ~

We were looking for a sushi place and all of the ones we wanted to try in Davis were closing within an hour. We decided to go for Ayame Sushi, which was 4-stars on Unilocal so we were excited. However, this review would be a 2-star if it weren’t for the Hawaiian poke salad appetizer! Fresh fish, cucumbers, avocado, and seaweed salad tossed together with a sweet sauce. It was so good and light, I could’ve easily gone for another one. But I had my bento box coming up, which I’m less enthusiastic about. I ordered a beef teriyaki and cucumber roll box. It came out looking like I ordered from the kid’s menu… I finished my cucumber rolls and had some salad, but barely touched the beef. It was still slightly pink, and it was incredibly chewy and tough. On a positive note — they played good old school music!

Hands down(for me) one of the best restaurants in Solano County for freshly prepared sashimi, sushi and specialty rolls. The cooked items and dinners looked amazing as well. I’m only rating the rolls and sushi. The best spot in the house would be at the sushi bar because you not only see your sushi being prepared right in front of you but the owner himself genuinely engages in some great conversation that makes for a lovely experience and if you haven’t decided on what you want from the menu he’ll put something together, as the menu is ever changing and the result is nothing more than delicious! The staff is quite delightful and will offer their recommendations as well. They were prompt in getting orders in. Although it may take a little time to get the order out, rest assured the meal getting sent to you is as close to being made to order as they can get. Again, I only attest to the sushi and rolls but the selection of other meals looked amazing. I highly recommend this place if you want fresh because this is as fresh as you can get. Staff is lovely and the owner definitely is down to earth. He cares about his product that comes out and his customers. I’ll drink and have a bite with that! Cheers!

Another lunch date with my eldest son. This time it was Ayame Sushi. We were not disappointed. It was the middle of the day, a perfect time to go to avoid the crowds. There were only a few other patrons and us-perfect! We ordered the Avocado Bomb. Although now, it should be «bombs.“The owner tells me he makes 2 now-easier to eat with others. They were the perfect size, fresh and creamy. We shared the Lion King Roll. It too was fresh and delicious. My son probably could’ve devoured one all on his own. The only slightly disappointment was the Soft Shell Crab. It was on the smaller side. For $ 8.00, we thought he was a little lacking. Still, good flavor. Food: 4 Service: 4 Value: 4 Cleanliness: 4

«Mahalo…(Sigh) I needed that.» Damn, if I wasn’t having one of those days/nights… ‘And when I do, there’s nothing that good sushi & sake can’t take the edge off of.(However, everything else that came after was a bonus!) I’ve been wanting to try this new sushi spot for some time now & tonight was the perfect evening for it! «Eh bruddah, large sake please!» Walked in a lithe after 7:30pm, it looked like a quiet evening, one table with two couples and me, traveling this evening, via«Han Solo.»(Did I mention it was one of those frick’n nights?) I walked straight back to the sushi bar, said hello to Steven, the sushi chef, and Lili(sp?), the server, and pulled up a seat. Sake(Cold — large): «Yes, please!» Photo — Saba: Fresh: Great; tasty; seasoned perfectly Photo — Spider-maki: Great; flavorful; not overcooked; good portions Photo — Salmon Skin Handroll: Great; very flavorful; «ono»(delicious) Photo — Hamachi Kama: Great; tender; cooked perfectly, tasty Photo — After talking story with Steven for a bit, I discovered, he’s not only the sushi chef but the owner as well… ‘And he knows his fish as well as quality.
