I love this place. I been looking for a new Japanese restaurant. About a year ago, a co-worker who is a Navy vet and spent years in Japan, recommend this place. He said it is really close to the food you would get in Japan. After losing great places in the Solano County area such as Todias, Aiki’s, and Ohadocu’s I was hurting looking for good Japanese food. The staff is attentive. Since I go there at least once a month and at times 2 – 3 times a month, I am a noticeable regular. The only drawbacks that I can deal with is it does get really busy. Worst times are on Fridays, Saturday, and Sundays. Usually Monday-Thursday are not too busy, unless there is a large family night. Grant it, they are expensive. But taking in account how much I eat, the $ 30 per person is not a bad deal.

Stopped by on a Sunday morning a few weeks back. Got there just a minute or two past 11 am and the line was already out the door, and people were slowing moving in to be seated. We had a table of 3 and unfortunately were not amongst the lucky first set of tables. Told wait was 40 – 45 minutes, depending on how quickly people ate. Since sushi sounded good, we decided to wait. About 15 minutes in, they decided to seat the two small patio tables outside. Score! Food was very good and we were lucky that it was only going to be a 90 degree day so temp around noon was comfortable. It started to get a bit warm at the end of the meal when the sun was directly above us, bit overall it was fine and a lot quieter on the patio than inside. So why four stars vs. five? Not sure when the lunch buffet got to be $ 17.99. I totally agree with maintaining quality, but wasn’t it like $ 14.99 when it opened a couple of years ago? Given line at opening and when we left, it doesn’t seem like price was a concern for too many folks. Overall good experience and will be back. Just hope prices stay reasonable.

Was stuck on the 80 during coming back to the Bay. Decided to grab some dinner and wait for the traffic to die down. I saw a line of people outside Fuji Sushi at 4:50, so I decided to wait and grab sushi. The line moved fast once 5:00 rolled around. I sat at the bar and was really surprised by the quality of the fish on the conveyor belt. I grabbed a California Roll topped with unagi, and avocado, it was pretty good. I also grabbed a few plates of Unagi nigiri, the unagi was plump and fatty, delicious. My only gripe about the nigiri, is that the rice was not properly formed, and half of the rice balls fell apart when picked up with chopsticks. I ended up eating many rolls and nigiri with my hands. After filling up on the conveyor belt, my ordered hot food arrived. The fried oysters were very hot and plump. As was the Soft Shell crab. I feel like both were tasty, but were a little heavy on the batter. The Hamachi Kama though was awesome. Not at all burnt like I’ve had at some other restaurants, just juicy and delicious. I finished my meal with a sashimi platter with Salmon, Tuna, Albacore, and Unagi(even though Unagi sashimi isn’t on the menu). The fish was all pretty decent, except for the Tuna, which hadn’t been fully defrosted yet and i felt the crunch of some ice crystals. All in all, Fuji was a decent, low priced, $ 21 for weekend dinner, sushi buffet. I would come back and just order 10 Hamachi Kamas.

Pros: I love this place! Good customer service, food is fresh, and a wide variety. One of the best sushi buffets out there! I’m always happy coming out of this place. Cons: There might be a long wait.

It always makes me incredibly sad knowing how far away Fuji Sushi is, and that I can’t just come here to stuff my face full of delicious sushi whenever I want :( My friend and I got to the Vacaville Outlets about 45 minutes before they opened for dinner, so we walked around a bit. Around 4:45pm we started heading back towards Fuji and there was already a line formed. Luckily we were still part of the«first wave» and got a table. It’s AYCE with a conveyor belt and order what you’d like service(especially appetizers). I loved everything. After being about 105% full, I noticed the table next to us got this gorgeous platter of fresh sashimi, and I was thinking that I done f***ed up not doing that myself earlier(because now I had no room for it, even if I tried). so next time that’s what I’m doing *first*. Service was friendly and prompt! Everything we ordered off menu we got pretty quickly. Our drinks were always filled. And the sushi chefs taking your custom orders would either point out what you wanted is already available for the taking or make it pretty quickly, even when there’s several people’s orders ahead of you. You can ask for half rolls as well when ordering off the menu so you have more room for even more food: D This place is amazeballs for someone like me who just wants to try everything on the menu all the time. GDI I miss this place and I’ve only been once and I wish this wasn’t an 1hr+ drive for me :(

AYCE done right. My go to spot when I’m in the mood for FOOD! Sushi is made fresh to order and they have the boats to grab. The kitchen has many cooked items that are done well. This place stays busy and it is not an intimate quiet setting to act fancy. It’s a get down to business type of sush-fest. The staff are always friendly and they stay running table to table. They earn their pay. I drop a nice tip in the sushi jar and give the wait staff a little something on the tab every time i visit. Never have had a bad experience or a second thought about the money spent. Go by myself and take friends /lovers. Either way, I’m eating. I’m told the AYCE oysters are good. Don’t know, don’t care, because I don’t eat. I do know that everything else is delicious and done well.

Oh my goodness the men in my family LOVES this place. I’m not a big fan of AYCE, but this place is pretty cool and so worth it especially for raw sushi lovers! Cautious, wait time for 5 people arrived at 7pm is about 45 minutes. So many people on the wait list but everyone is willing to wait. They do have reservations for a large party, but they only offer 5 or 5:30pm. Once we got seated, a waiter right away offered us drinks and appetizers, we started with miso soups, edamame, potstickers, Hamachi Kama, salmon teriyaki, sake Kama, soft shell crab and shrimp and vegetable tempura — yes! That was just appetizers lol! Then after that you go to the middle sushi plates on the rotating belt and grab your sushi or order from one of the sushi masters for your favorite sushi. Customer service here is great, very friendly and efficient! If you are a raw sushi lover, this place is definitely worth it!

Let me start by saying that I’m not really a fan of AYCE type places. I’m too lazy to have to get up and get my food: p And I usually never find the food to be mind-blowing and can never eat enough to get my money’s worth. So I don’t think I could ever rate this type of place that highly. I got here on a Sunday morning at 10:45. The restaurant opens at 11am and there already was a line forming. Once doors opened, the place filled up pretty quickly. We were given our choice of table or counter, and someone soon came by to get our drink and appetizer order. We weren’t ready, however, and it was a long while til our server came back to get our order. FYI most of the apps and desserts were single servings, or maybe enough for two people without big appetites. As for the sushi bar, I didn’t see anyone placing orders and no one asked me if I wanted anything when I went up, so I had to eyeball what I thought looked good at the counter and on the conveyor belt because I had no idea what anything was. The food was ok, not too much to say about that. $ 17.99 for lunch seemed to be a decent price, but there is no way I could spend more and feel like I got my money’s worth. However, if you have a healthy appetite when you come in and eat a lot and like this sort of place, you’ll be fine. P. S. On the menu it said they charge for waste of food. I’m not sure what the charge is, how much they consider waste, or if they are even strict on that policy at all, since we ate all our food because we didn’t want to find out: p

Sadly, Fuji just didn’t do it for us this time. We last dined here in July of 2015 and we were quite impressed. This time, not so much. When we arrived, there were people standing around waiting to be seated. I dropped her off so she could write our name on the list while I parked. I checked the clipboard when I entered the restaurant and there were about eight names on the list ahead of us, only 3 were for a two-topper. We were down for either a table or seating at the counter. The flow of customers was pretty quick. People ate, got up, paid and left. Busboys would clean the tables reasonably quickly. The hostess, slowed the pace of table turns. Now I understand she has a difficult job. She needs to make sure that small tables are left open on occasion so larger parties can be accommodated by moving tables together. My gripe is that she left tables open that weren’t next to other tables that were about to be vacated. Instead of seating folks, she would spend time dragging tables and chairs to other areas of the dining room. At one point, she left a two-top sitting empty for 10 minutes and then ended up seating it as a two-top. It was also quite obvious that because she spent so much time moving tables around, it confused the waitstaff when they delivered food since the table numbers kept changing. We picked up various dishes from the conveyor belt. They were okay. We did ask for specific dishes from the sushi chefs as well. Deep Fried Plate —(2) — came with a Soft Shell Crab which was pretty good; oysters, which were also okay; tempura prawns, sadly were not battered correctly and not nearly as good as last year. The batter is supposed to be light and airy. Addition of seltzer water or beer helps with this and keeps the batter light. This coating of batter was closer to a corn meal(for corn dogs) in texture. Since tempura prawns were also the building block of some of the rolls, that made the rolls less palatable as well. Sashimi Plate —(3) — we asked for Salmon and Hamachi. Ooops! What we got was Smoked Salmon and Hamachi. The Hamachi was good. The Smoked Salmon would have been better in a Philly Roll but was not satisfactory as a stand alone piece of fish on its own. Hamachi Kama —(2) — not enough salt and no dipping sauce. Enough said. Raw Oysters on the ½ Shell —(2) — The oysters themselves were fine. On the small side but very briny and tasted of iron. The problem was sloppy shucking. There were small flecks of shell on three of the five oysters we received. We had to carefully pick off the pieces of shell before eating the oysters. Spicy Tuna Roll —(2) — who changed the recipe? four slices laid out on a plate like four coins. There’s a reason that Japanese restaurants usually serve dishes in 3’s, 5’s, or any other number than 4. The Japanese word for 4 sounds very similar to the Japanese word for death. And while this roll was Spicy, it was not the flavor that is typical of Spicy Tuna Rolls. Was today just a fluke or an indicator of the direction this restaurant is heading? We’ll be keeping an eye on the reviews before we decide whether or not to eat here again.

I’ve come to this place a couple of times with my boyfriend for some AYCE sushi! So far we’ve been lucky and been seated right at the bar, which has the rotating sushi just come by in front of us. You can order things off the menu, such as edamame(HUGE portion by the way!), salmon teriyaki, and gyoza and more appetizer type dishes. We usually just end up grabbing lots of the mini plates off the rotating belt or grab some already-made-but-still-fresh rolls from the main counter. You can also make requests to the sushi chefs. The salmon teriyaki was a little dry when we came by yesterday, but still okay. I had two orders of miso soup as well as one order of the edamame. We also ordered a total of 5 orders of the chicken gyoza. So good! But watch out, because the gyoza tends to come out pretty greasy. But the taste is pretty delightful. The sushi choices that they have here are really good and such a variety! I think that my favorite was probably the spicy crab and tuna roll. I think it’s the spiciest roll. I also enjoy their wakame salad and their jellyfish dish. Service is usually prompt, and you can always ask any of the workers for help.

Friday night and the family has just finished some shopping at the outlet malls there in Vacaville. People are melting down from the low blood sugar. What to eat is the question for which the only consensus was sushi. Fuji Sushi is was a new experience for us. While I have been to both all you can eat and belt sushi, I have not seen them combined. For the children, the idea that you could grab food off of the belt was a novel concept. We sat at the bar and the children grabbed everything that they could as well as placing the order with the staff behind the counter. I would recommend that you sit at the bar even if you don’t have children. The speed of the delivery to the bar was much faster than when people would walk up and place the order. In the end the children ate a ton of food for not much more than a standard outing at a sushi restaurant. We will definitely be coming back. What did I learn today? Keep an eye on your children at the bar. Soon they will have two plates of everything in front of them and keep reaching for more.

Their sashimi is always fresh, the rolls are unique and customizable, and given how incredibly busy they are, I am amazed by how great the service is. The sushi chefs pretty much have down my usual starter: HUGE plate of salmon sashimi(see picture). They are efficient at preparing the orders, so once you’re in, you can expect to be eating in the next 60 sec. I probably come up for food about 10 – 15 times, and they never make me feel bad about it. Their tempura items are really good, too, as they are freshly prepared and do not seem greasy at all. I recommend trying the soft-shell crab. The wait to get in on a Friday or Saturday night can be pretty long, so I would come 30 – 40 min early to put your name on the list, especially if you have a party of larger than 4.

I used to go to the Fuji’s in Davis all the time when I was in high school. Then I became an undergrad at UCD, and took a bigger interest in some of the other sushi buffets in town. BUT, the Fuji’s in Vacaville is much better than the other! They have a wider selection, faster/nicer service, cleaner venue, and so much more. Also, I really like how they cover all of the plates as they circulate, and they don’t put too much out at a time(both preventing the food from getting bad quicker). I really like it here, and I’ll for sure be back for more!

Spent Easter in Vacaville with my MIL and decided we wanted to go out for dinner. Be prepared to wait for awhile, this place is ALWAYSBUSY! But it is so worth it. After be seated we were greeted by our server who brought us drinks, asked what we wanted for an appetizer and explained how things worked. There are so many options to choose from, you can choose from a specially ordered plate of sashimi or other roll. You can choose one of the many items going around in the conveyor belt or sometimes when its slower they make some of the other more involved dishes and put them out on shelves. I ate soooo much sushi, I definitely got my moneys worth. Even my mother in law who doesn’t like raw fish, was able to find a lot she could eat. The fish was very fresh and good quality, I have always been nervous about AYCE sushi places but this one turned me into a believer. The buffet also includes dessert. There is a 90 minute cap but that is more than enough time to gorge yourself on sushi and dessert. Its also enough time to get your moneys worth. My only complaints are that there wasn’t enough people going around to clear your plates, many of them are small so you eat them quickly and they began to stack up. Also I had to flag someone down twice to get a drink refill.

In a nut shell: Our first time here and wanted to see how the place stacks up with the Unilocal ratings. This place is not bad for a neighborhood ayce sushi. The price is just right, if you can eat a lot. Will we come back? Maybe yes and maybe no(this doesn’t help, I know). Yes, if we all ever get that hungry for sushi. No, if I’m craving that exceptional sushi taste. Price was just right for the type of place. I think it’s $ 17 for lunch and $ 21 for dinner. Drinks are not included in the price. Order all the appetizers, rolls, sushi, sashimi, and dessert you like. We sat at the bar on the right side where we can easily watch the game while eating our grub, picking up plates from the conveyor belt, and drinking beer. Best seat in the house from my perspective. Went for the tempura veggies(very good), fried oysters(good) and fried soft shell crabs(good). Ordered as much tuna, salmon, and octopus sashimi as we can eat. Unfortunately they do not serve scallops, which is our favorite. Fish was fresh and good quality for an ayce, but my mouth was still left looking for that umami, which could only come from an expertly prepared sushi rice and tender, sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth premium slice of raw fish. Fried bananas were so fun to eat(only because left left room for dessert), and the sesame balls reminded me of my childhood(not bad at at all). We ate a lot of oranges, which were very sweet. Service was very pleasant and fast. Good place to hang out with a group or with kids who would love watching the conveyor belt.

This may not be 100% authentic food from Japan. Heck, it might even be very rushed or like a Vegas buffet to some but man for the quality to price ratio this place can not be beat. I know I should like a commercial but the quality of the sashimi and soft shell crab and gyoza and the all you can eat factor is like buying a seasons pass to Japanese sushiville! I was literally blown away by the hot softshell crab appetizer, hot gyoza, the fresh salmon, etc. Here’s what I especially love about this all you can eat joint. You can order the sashimi WITHOUT the rice! Yes, all the protein you want without all that rice filling you up. I suggest going for their spicy seared salmon or tuna. It’s slices of sashimi with a nice spicy Mayo and siracha sauce. I also really liked their classic dragon roll, fried California roll, and spider roll. All of the hot items were hot and fresh and the rolls really didn’t have tons of rice on it like you would see at some buffets. Pro tip: you can even ask for slices of unagi without the rice! It’s not on the menu but for unagi lovers like me who like to add it to say my spider roll it was awesome! Worth the $ 17 lunch price. Or if you want, kick in $ 5 more dollars for their dinner buffet. Considering most places charge $ 15 for a specialty roll, you’ll get your money’s worth in no time.

Although open since early 2015, I only got to try this Nut Tree location last week for Lenten fish dinner. The original Fuji Sushi Boat Buffet in Davis was always popular during undergrad, and I’ve also been to the Fuji Sushi Buffet in Elk Grove on several occasions. For a rainy Friday night, it was busy but my name on the waitlist was called right away for a party of 4(only a 20-minute wait). The dining area seats 100 people at bar/tables, not including an outdoor patio. Diners typically spend 1 – 1.5 hours eating to give an idea of table turnaround time. No conventional sushi boats here! Instead they have the conveyor belt style with sushi plates(covered). Waiters will take your orders for drinks, appetizers, and desserts only. All sushi/sashimi must be ordered at the bar if you want items other than what’s going around on the conveyors, or other rolls plated ready for taking. The softshell crab appetizer and the oysters(both raw and fried) were good. Grilled salmon was also generous portion, and the salmon sashimi was on point. They also had handrolls, nigiri, and special rolls. I don’t remember the names of all the rolls I tried, but the spicy tuna was a little too spicy for me for some reason! They even have squid or octopus sashimi if you so desire, though I’m more a fan of unagi, salmon and tuna. For dessert they have fried bananas or the sesame balls(bean paste filling). They forgot our order of the bananas and had to put in a new one, they were okay. Didn’t really hit the spot though so we migrated over to Fenton’s and got free petite scoops of ice cream with Unilocal check-in/review. Maybe I’m spoiled by Davis places like Davis Sushi Buffet or Nami, where the lines aren’t long just to order, don’t have to fight huge crowds, or rolls are brought to your table. Four stars, still a fan, but Fuji’s Elk Grove is still probably my favorite out of the three Fuji’s out there(also have hot Chinese food and therefore fruits/ice cream desserts typical of buffet, and I like getting their grilled mackerel).

I have my fair share of AYCE sushi buffets here in the Davis-Sac area, so I feel like I should Unilocal about this place too. My first time at Fuji’s was last Sunday around 6pm with a group of 5 other people on a Sunday night and surprisingly wait wasn’t too atrocious. We had to wait around 30 – 40 minutes for a table, but nothing too bad. I have been to the Fuji’s in Davis(which is horrible by the way) so I was a little suspicious of this place, but I had a pleasant surprise. This place has a pretty big menu. One thing I liked was that they have unlimited sashimi pieces,(instead of nigiri like most places!) Also, for appetizers, they have soft shell crabs and fried oysters(and not mussels), so that’s a plus. Overall, the rolls themselves didn’t seem too special, as most of them are stuffed with California rolls or the imitation crab meat mix. Needless to say, I skipped out on a lot of the rolls, although the ones that I did have were wrapped pretty nicely and tasted pretty good. It wasn’t overloaded with rice. I ended up getting sashimi plates. Not the BEST quality sashimi, but pretty darn good for an AYCE. I also really really liked that they have fresh oysters that you can order(They tasted fresh and didn’t look too sketchy). I would definitely recommend that! If you like spicy, you should also get the spicy seared salmon/tuna. I like that they didn’t skimp on the fish. My unagi pieces were way bigger than my rice so that was good! :) They also have ikura nigiri(the big salmon roe) which never happens in AYCE sushi places, so good job fuji’s. This place beats a lot of the nearby AYCE sushi places, especially the Fuji’s in Davis. The one thing I like about this place is that you can customize your order and get your plates of food bigger or smaller. The only thing I didn’t quite like was that we had to physically get up and order. It also feels like a fight to put in my order. But, little things, haha. Overall, for dinner it was $ 21.99 which I think was worth it, especially because they give big pieces of sashimi. I would definitely come here again.

For AYCE sushi, I think this place is pretty worth it. I came here for lunch with a party. It was already packed! Good thing we made a reservation. After arriving, we were promptly seated in the corner of the restaurant, right next to the entrance to the kitchen. For $ 20ish, you can eat whatever the hell you want. Sashimi(tuna, salmon, etc), squid, octopus, fresh oysters, a bunch of appetizers, hand rolls, special rolls, fish, etc. There’s a large variety to choose from and you can probably find something you like here. The quality is also decent. It has room for improvement though. Every time I come here, I always get spicy seared salmon and grilled yellow tail collar. Those two dishes is probably my favorite here. You can’t go wrong with them. The sashimi is you know sashimi. It can be cooler though, but it’s good enough to satisfy. As for the rolls, I usually just get whatever look appealing that day. Each of which is decent but I’ve had better. They definitely better than the rolls at a lot of other places but I feel there is still room for improvements. The fried banana dessert is lovely. Even though it’s not as sweet as I’ll like it, it’s good enough. The service was also not that bad. We just had to call out to our waiter/waitress whenever they walked by so that we can place an order. As long as you’re assertive, they’ll come and help you out. The only downer about this is the water service. They don’t really walk around with pitchers of water and when they do, it’s just to walk past you as a tease. The workers here don’t seem to pay attention to the customer’s cup of water. As a big water drinker, I’d appreciate a check up every now and then. You order appetizers, desserts, and drinks from the waiters/waitresses. Everything else is ordered through the sushi chefs at the center. But keep an eye out for your order if it’s busy. They just call out the roll and leave it there for you to pick up.

Fuji is the first place that comes to mind when I want to eat at a sushi buffet. The lines during the weekends can almost resemble a Black Friday sale. That being said, make reservations 24 hours beforehand if you are going with a group or get there right when it opens. Otherwise, be prepared to write your name on the list and wait a considerable amount of time. Service can be tricky because they don’t typically check on your table. For the most part, I am constantly trying to flag down or catch the eye of a server. Once you get their attention, they are pretty good about getting drinks out fast and appetizer orders refilled. Although I have never sat in the bar area, I like the conveyor belt that goes around the bar with small dishes. One of the best improvements at the bar is the ordering area. It is an open space between both sides of the bar which does not affect people’s dining. No more swatting hands as they reach over your head to grab a dish! Servers will only take appetizer orders — all sashimi and sushi requests can be ordered at the bar. Fuji’s sashimi is one of the best when it comes to buffet places. Specifically, the salmon sashimi is cut well and texture is practically silky smooth. Other favorite dishes include the Hamachi collar, spicy seared tuna and hand rolls. The kiddo loves their potstickers, miso soup, oranges and edamame. Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying the dessert which was sweet fried bananas and sesame balls. Yum! Their weekend lunch prices($ 18) are reasonable for a sushi buffet and you pay at the end of your meal. Fuji’s is a great place to dine. As a bonus, my favorite ice cream parlor, a kid’s play area and plenty of shopping is directly across from this restaurant.
