Get the lamb shank. Awesome! Deserts are great too. Enjoyed the staff who are mostly internationals, great service. Really loved this place. They should change the name and décor. Feels like you are dining at a chuck wagon steakhouse when in fact their menu is more diverse.

We were looking for some good food after many restaurants were already closed and found this place. The food had a unique twist and was very good. Excellent service as well, and not too pricey for Vail.

We were looking for a restaurant that was open late with some good homestyle food. We found the menu online and went to check it out. Our server, Dorota, is the best! She stayed on top of all of the regular service items and then some, giving us a play by play of where our food was at as well as walking through our bill with us. She is very friendly, proactive, and helpful. We had a bavarian pretzel, a turkey BLT, and the fish and chips. The Bavarian pretzel was monstrous and came with three dipping choices: apple butter, beer cheese, and some fantastic mustard. The turkey BLT was the biggest sandwich I’ve seen in my life — we’re talking double-decker large here, along with a sea of french fries. The fish and chips was awesome and served with tartar sauce and coleslaw. All in all it was way more food than we could eat but it was all delicious. Wished we had found this earlier in our stay in Vail, we would have gone multiple times!

So I have been here during off season, but I must say that the food and service have been incredible. If anybody gets the chance to visit, you must try the truffle tots. Just amazing!!!

Recommended by a friend, we came to this restaurant. Upscale burgers, and nice steaks. Pot pie seems to be a favorite so we tried that too. Everything was great and the service was super friendly. We will come back when we visit avail again!

The place has nice décor and ambiance. The wait was an hour and they don’t offer reservations. Both my burger and my friend’s lamb were overcooked. The $ 18 «medium» plain burger was close to well-done. The only food that I liked was my side of mashed potatoes. 1 – 2 stars for food, 4 – 5 stars for ambiance gives us an average of 3.

I looked forward to experiencing Bully Ranch for 2 long weeks and when the time finally arrived I was not disappointed. The staff there are SUPER friendly, engaged, and helpful. The restaurant itself is very cozy and charming. The cocktails and hot beverages are made to perfection. The food… Lord have mercy. It’s good. We started with artichoke dip and the Bavarian pretzel for appetizers. I don’t know what they put in that artichoke dip but it was so f-cking delicious I wanted to shout about it. The pretzel was awesome and the dipping sauces all hit the spot. We also got a small cup of the tomato basil soup which was wonderfully creamy and savory. Our table enjoyed a maple bacon Manhattan, a blueberry thyme old fashioned, a mudslide, and some Henricks Chills. I highly recommend the Henricks Chill — light and refreshing! I had the Definitive Burger(smoked cheddar in place of bleu cheese) with truffle tots, my husband had the Bully Bourbon Burger, and my friends had shrimp tacos and fajitas. Everything was DELICIOUS. The tots are addicting. Perfectly fried. The burgers were flavorful and hearty. My only complaint is we both ordered medium and they came out clearly well-done, but everything else about our entire experience was so overwhelmingly positive that I can’t even complain that much. :-) We will be back without a doubt, and highly recommend this place if you’re in the Vail village!

As a group of three, we were wandering around Vail trying to find somewhere to eat that wasn’t outrageously overpriced with a long wait but also had at least 4 Unilocal stars. We wandered into The George but the 45 minute wait was too much. Then we went to The Blu Cow but it wasn’t what we wanted. The owner of The Blu Cow pointed us to The Bully Ranch. Despite the 3 stars on Unilocal,we figured it was good if another restaurant owner(and local) was pointing us in their direction. Any place that serves a huge homemade pretzel and Hofbrauhaus beer is my kind of place. My burger was good and my friend said the wings were some of the best he’s had. I will definitely go back.

Let’s start with giving credit where credit is due. This place was packed and they had one bartender, Brian. We decided that after getting a seat at the bar to stay and not move to a table. This guy killed it. He was getting nailed with families(I didn’t know kids could sit at a bar), bar utility mishaps, you name it… Yet he served us all top notch. We shared the shrimp tacos because portions are huge. With a side of guacamole($ 4.50). My husbands 1st taco had 2 shrimp so he wasn’t overly thrilled. But all in all they were really tasty. Bottom line, go check it out. Good mountain vibe and great service.

We came with a party of 8. They don’t take reservations, so the wait was about 45 minutes. We had a drink at the hotel bar next door which had a nice ambiance & live music. The best appetizer was the Pretzel. Most of us ordered burgers & they were great. Most of us ordered the truffle tots & they were ok — reminded me of tater tots… One person ordered the tomato/cheddar cheese soup and it was excellent. One person ordered the wild boar and said it was excellent!

Great american restaurant, with a beautiful cabin decoration, great service and excellent burgers. Price is more affordable than most of the restaurants in Vail. The waiting piano bar next to it its really nice.

Lived up to the hype as best burger in Vail. Blue cheese butter was the key ingredient.

It is great they don’t take reservations. It’s a great place for a casual meal that doesn’t require prior planning. The ribs were good, artichoke dip could and should have been our entire meal. The atmosphere is mellow. The host keeps people moving in and our service was great. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could.

You Vail Unilocalers led me astray, but I love you anyway. This place is cute but it is not very good. I ordered the tatter tots as suggested and wish I wouldn’t of. I could not get the taste or smell out of my mind. It’s something weird and garlicky and pungent. I also ordered a hamburger as I had read it was the best in Vail. It was good but not amazing and too heavy. The service was good, local beer selection was good, and the atmosphere is cute but I wouldn’t go back.

The burger was awesome! I guess I should have expected to pay $ 17 – 19 for a burger in Vail. LOL The service was good and had no complaints about the atmosphere.

Do not even attempt eating here. The patio looks lovely and the menu has some interesting things… That’s about where the positives stop. We were in Vail for several nights with my parents. This was our first family trip with our infant son. We looked for restaurants that were lively but not too loud for the baby and stumbled upon Bully Ranch. The restaurant looked moderately busy but only had a few tables seated on the patio. Upon entering the restaurant, we also noticed several tables empty in the restaurant. We asked to sit on the patio and were told they were not seating outside. When we asked about the several tables clearly outside, we were told«oh — they are waiting for a table and the other group has special permission to eat outside.» Um what?! We were then told the wait was 45 minutes long and that we could sit on the patio if we ordered food at the bar and carried it ourselves outside. Awful customer interaction, bizarre hostess and manager«rules» and very disappointing for the Sonnenalp’s caliber. We ended up at the Four Season’s bar with terrific service and wonderful food.

Ugh. Two of us paid $ 60 for a meal that couldn’t stand up to Applebee’s. is this a joke? And seriously, if I ask for a medium-rare burger, please don’t give me a well done burger. It’s not what I ordered. You might as well give me a taco or grilled cheese. Avoid.

Freaking Truffle Tots. What the what??? Bully Ranch, you certainly can have everything else on your menu, bc it was just meh! BUT your truffle tots were freaking delish. The manager was nice and accommodating, but it just wasn’t worth the $ 54 ticket the fiancé and I ended up with. He got fish and chips… I got soup and salad. I’ve had a better salad at chick-fil-a. Pinky promise. BUT those dang on truffle tots. Shoot.
