Yesterday I stopped at the Tandoor restaurant based upon the Unilocal reviews that I read. I was driving through Valdosta and was looking for something different to eat. What can I say — the food was fantastic. For the main course I had Chicken Kadai which was outstanding. In the future I will look forward to stopping by to eat at Tandoor whenever I am driving through Valdosta.

The food was amazing! We had the chicken tikka masala, lamb biryani, bullet naan, and mango lassi! It was all so delicious! The service was friendly and the owner cooks the food himself. I will be back to this place for sure.

If you haven’t been to Tandoor, you are missing out. They have the most amazing saag I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve had it all over the country. This place is a little hard to spot if you’re just driving by, so I try to get the word out to everyone I can to support the owners! Every time we go in, we try something new and never leave disappointed. The staff recommendations on what to eat and perhaps more importantly, how to eat it, are always spot on! It’s absolutely amazing and definitely worth a visit. It gives you the option of fresh, authentic cuisine on the opposite side of town from the only other Indian in Valdosta! We are BIG fans.

Wow, what a hidden gym. Just had chicken tikka masala and it was out of the world. The garlic naan is to die for. Absolutely recommend.

Another gem found thanks to Unilocal!Excellent Indian restaurant on the west side of the interstate in Valdosta. Owner is very friendly and welcoming. I had the chicken curry and it was excellent. Just moved to this area so I am glad to have found a great place to get Indian. Looking forward to trying something again there soon. Don’t let its location deter you from trying it.

Sometimes the hole-in-the-wall places end up being among my favorites. Tandoor undoubtedly fit the hole-in-the-wall description. The outside of the building was unkempt to the point that it appeared abandoned. The screened side patio area had more screens torn out than intact, and the area appeared only to be used for storage. Application of a broom, a dab of paint, and some general maintenance would have done wonders. The interior was decidedly dated, but it was not as off-putting as the exterior. It appeared to be clean and to have a reasonably recent coat of paint. Only six or seven other people were there. I wanted a quiet dinner alone, so I chose a small table near the kitchen — which typically doesn’t bother me — but that was a mistake. There was a swinging door that slammed loudly every time the owner/proprietor/server/cook(all of the above, I think) went through. I physically jumped at least a half dozen times. The owner/proprietor/server/cook(?) was pleasant and helpful, but he was the only person running the front of the restaurant and had to move quickly to keep up.(I heard him talking to someone in the kitchen, so I think he had help in the back.) Despite the fact that he was essentially a one-man operation, he took my order and brought my food quickly. As for the food, what it lacked in presentation it made up for in taste. My garlic naan was fresh and warm, and not overwhelmed with garlic. The butter chicken had a slightly sweet, mildly spiced sauce that was quite good with the rice and naan — though I thought the actual chicken content was a bit low. It was more sauce-with-chicken than chicken-with-sauce.(Maybe because Indians don’t eat as much meat as Americans?) I treated myself to a mango lassi for dessert. It was delightful. In all, my experience was much like those who reviewed before me. Facility gets maybe one star, if that. Food presentation about one star, service three-four, food a solid four. I was traveling and do not live in the area so I won’t be back anytime soon. But if ever find myself traveling through Valdosta and in the mood for Indian food again, I would certainly go back.

Is not the most inviting looking place and the location is a bit inconvenient for locals. People traveling though will enjoy this because it is right off 75 and the food was very good. I’d go as far as to say that it beats out the competition in town. Food has more flavor and the portions were generous. Only complaint was the amount of bone in the chunks of meat. This isn’t uncommon for Indian restaurants but I would definitely appreciate if they were more cautious so someone doesnt injure their mouth

Me and my wife were looking for a delicious food on our way from Atlanta to Tampa, and trust me our choice could not be better than this. we searched on Unilocal and after going through some reviews, we were sure that this is the place for our dinner. It was sunday evening and closing time of this place is 9:30 instead of 10. I placed the order to go and it was perfect dish we ordered. chicken kadhai and bullet naan was the combination we had ordered. We were fully satisfied and happy of course with our choice. I definitely recommend this place to others.

Was nervous at first upon pulling up the place was dead for a Saturday 6pm. Had placed a to go order to bring back to the hotel. Upon entering they knew I was there to pickup the order as there was no one else. The chef came out and brought me the food, made sure I had played and silverware and even offered to give me 2 sodas for free, super friendly. Got chicken 65 which was spicy and delicious, chicken tikka masala which absolutely blew our minds. This was our first foray into Indian so we don’t have a lot to compare it to, but I can’t imagine it gets better then this. So good I almost cried. Got bullet naan and the garlic naan. Both good preferred the garlic naan though. Overall some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. If you’ve been hesitant to try Indian cuisine take it from us, this is the place to start!

Best Indian food in Valdosta! Right off of exit 18. Ask the owner what dishes he recommends and I love promise you won’t be disappointed. The service can be slow but since the food was good it wasn’t a big deal. Try this place out.

The goat curry is good, when you aren’t digging sharp bones out of the roof of your mouth. There is literally 0 effort put in by this restaurant to make this food safe. Yes, I get it isn’t typical to remove the bone, but there were literally bone shards in the curry.

Would have given this place 5 stars except that there was a horrible smell that was hard to overcome. The owner was very accommodating and worked to resolve the problem. The food was great, the service was good. Will definitely return and hopefully I can give it 5 stars next time!

After living in England I became a snob when it came to authentic Indian food here in the states. Tandoor has exceeded my expectations and I will become a regular here! The owner/chef is friendly and I observed him guide two customers, new to Indian cuisine but wanting to try something new, pick some great dishes based upon their meat and spice preference. My chicken tikka masala was perfect as was the garlic naan.

My husband and I came here for lunch on a day trip, wanting to avoid all the chain restaurants in Valdosta. We regularly dine in Jacksonville’s various Indian restaurants and were pleasantly surprised to find Tandoor. We enjoyed two vegetarian dishes with garlic naan and rice. The okra masala was very tasty, as was the mixed vegetables in a creamy cashew and almond sauce(I can’t remember the name). I definitely recommend this place for tasty, fresh Indian and Pakistani food. Don’t be put off by the spare décor or out of the way location. It is actually quite close to I-75 and Hwy 133(Exit 18). Try out this place.

Whether you’re passing through or you live in this city and you’re wondering if the food here is worth checking out, stop reading this review and go have a meal here. Seriously, this place is incredible. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the owner who was incredibly attentive and ensured that our entire meal was perfect. And it was. Everything that can be made in house is, even the yoghurt for the mango lassis. He was very friendly and a great conversationalist. I ordered bullet Naan, chicken 65, and chicken tikka masala. Everything was perfect… Far better than every other indian restaurant I’ve eaten at. Service was prompt and efficient. The interior wasn’t bad. An attempt was made at making it feel«indian» but it definitely could do with some improvement. The bathrooms are lacklustre but clean. If you’re curious about Indian cuisine… Just… Stay away from the salty lassi and stick with a mango lassi.

I’ve only posted one review on Unilocal and that place closed before I could get back again. Hope that isn’t an omen ’cause I want this place to stay open. Nice ambiance, nice bar, attentive service. The food is a cut above what you usually get in the US, somebody’s mom must be back in the kitchen. Had lamb Rogan Josh and Rasam, both were excellent. This will be a regular stop for me when travelling to and from Florida.
