Valle Crucis Bakery & Cafe

This is our go-​to place to dine whenever we are in the area. We enjoy eating out and love to find those ‘hidden gem’ restaurants that are often frequented by the locals. From the looks of it, this place is one of them and the ‘regulars’ seem to love the food as much as we do. The servers are students at App State (and they seem to stay on during the school year so you feel like you get to know them). Sidney always has a smile for her customers– even when they are extremely busy. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable so you can come straight from a football game or hiking/​skiing (or even when you just feel like being around people and having someone else do the cooking). The shrimp ‘n grits and the flat-​iron steak are my husband’s favorites. I love the meatloaf and the homemade pimento cheese. Be sure to save room for a slice of warm chocolate bourbon pecan pie or at least take home some of their out-​of-​this-​world carrot cake.

We enjoy this local café/​bakery. Their meals are consistently good, fair priced, and generous servings. The chefs are so friendly, taking time to come out and visit with patrons. Their cakes and pies are delicious. It’s our favorite place to dine in the Valle!

Wonderful place for lunch! We ordered via Unilocal a platter for my daughters bridesmaids to eat while they were dressing for her wedding. Everything was delicious and many thanks to Mike for all his help!

My husband picked up a salmon burger sandwich and Asian slaw yesterday for lunch. About an hour and half after he ate, his stomach started to get real nausea. As the day went on he got worst and last night he got really sick. My suggestion is try to find another place to eat.

We were so impressed with our waitress (she didn’t tell us her name though)! She carried on a conversation with our table and we felt like we were at a friend’s house having dinner. Food was delicious and the Chef came out and said hello to everyone. You can tell that they take pride in what they serve and more importantly, how they cater to their patrons.
