$ 8 tasting fee per person. There were five of us. We did not enjoy the wine at all, and would not go back. The cheese plate was very sad, with a few bits of dried cheese, 4 tiny olives, 4 almonds and a tiny bit of fig jam. That’s it. $ 10. Overpriced. The wine they offered were very disappointing.

Easy to miss but don’t! Just off Hwy 4 on corner of Main St and Hwy 4 in Vallecito. We’ve tasted here multiple times. Always a pleasant time and enjoyable wines. We are typically red fans however the whites here are very nice. How nice? Well, we ended up buying a case of the Semillion. They just opened up a larger tasting room. Very nice. this visit we bought another Semilion and Merlot. Santa is coming and we wanted to leave him a nice gift ;) Coppermine is affiliated with Lavender Ridge in Murphys.

We’ve been here twice now and absolutely love it. It’s kind of on the way out of town and was an impulse stop for us on our way back home from Murphys a few months ago. Turns out they’re associated with Lavender Ridge, so our club membership with LR got us member pricing on Coppermine wines too. Normally I would rather take a nap than drink yet another boring Sauvignon Blanc, but I gave it a shot here anyway and was pretty impressed. Their Sauv has much more personality than the usual tired old grapefruit-citrus-blah. And the rest of their wines are also very well crafted. Once you delve into the reds, you’ll also be treated to a few chocolate pairings as well. The tasting room is really pretty — the arrangement of the wine bottles on their racks is almost artistic, and the décor was done very well. I think it helps that the labels are all shiny! If I remember correctly, the tasting fee is $ 5 a person but waived for members(as well as LR members) or with a purchase.

We have tried almost all of the wineries in the Murphys area. I have to say that Coppermine was definitely one of the best tasting experiences we’ve had! They have a tasting room with the typical bar style, but also have high-topped tables in the front room for more private tastings. I loved it! The tasting we had was with two flights of wine(two glasses) paired with chocolates. Let me preface, by saying that this was our FIRST tasting of the day. :-) Each wine was literally better than the last & the first whites we tried were fabulous. Really yummy. And I’m not a real white wine lover. Their Semillion & white Sauv Blanc were great. My two favorites though, were the Merlot & Malbec. Wow. We bought a bottle of each. If you like port, Coppermine also had an excellent one. I am not a huge port fan, as I find some to be sickeningly sweet & too pruney/raisiny. Their port was very well balanced & not too sweet. Very enjoyable! The tasting fee is $ 5, which seems to be becoming the new norm up in our foothill wine regions. I am okay with that as long at the wine is good & the service is good. The service here was great. She was friendly & polite even though she was busy with multiple patrons! I am so happy we decided to stop & try out Coppermine. The wine prices(whites & reds) were $ 20& $ 26.

I love wine, and I love the experience of wine tasting. The wine was pretty good and priced to sell. The people working at the winery we super nice! I would definately stop in when I am in Angels Camp. P. S. I love it when they apply the tatsting fee to the purchase of wine. thank you!

The wines don’t taste like copper, nor were they fermented in copper vats, etc… the winery is so-named because the actual wine-work is done in nearby Copperopolis, or so we were told… …back to blackberry, currant, spicy bliss. This winery focuses on the more traditional bordeaux grape varietals — Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. They also have a Chardonnay(grapes aren’t from Calaveras Cty) and a tasty Sauvignon Blanc. Excellent hospitality, far exceeding the venue. We had an excellent visit!

Today for the first time I was driving slow enough to see the sign for the Copper mine tasting room so decided to stop in and see what they got. Tasted several of their Red Wines and found them to be rather good. I bought two of them which I thought were very good. This is a place where I will be sure to stop again. FYI: This tasting room is not in Murphys but is on HWY4 on the right side going up the hill and before getting to Chatom.

I greatly enjoy discovering new businesses. Not just so I can Unilocal them. I love finding new places to frequent. Coppermine is my newest discovery. I often drove past the Coppermine tasting room but never made a point to try it out until today. Thank goodness I did! The tasting room is very unassuming. If you blink you might miss it! I’m not a white wine fan, but a fellow taster recommended the Chardonnay. I must say it was a very pleasant tasting wine. I sincerely enjoyed all of the reds I tried but my three faves were the Cabernet Franc, Malbec and the Petit Verdot. Oh my goodness! Heaven in a glass! The pourer paired several of the wines with different cheeses which undoubtedly enhanced the flavors of the wines. If you are in the Murphys area for wine tasting, I would recommend giving Coppermine a try. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did. Cheers!
