Came in specifically for the mimosas at 7 am lol and for a wonderful surprise they have $ 5 happy hour Yay! We had omelets with biscuits and gravy, super delish. Server was great and attentive. BTW they give you the bottle of champagne with your mimosa so you don’t get just a splash like most places.

I LOVE this place! They are very friendly and they give you a NICE amount of food for cheap. I always go for breakfast and get pancakes or waffles and I’m never disappointed!

Down through the years, living in Vallejo, Buttercup has been one of my favorite places to get breakfast. They have the absolute best«kitchen sink» omelette ever., except for one slight thing– it comes with swiss cheese instead of cheddar cheese. It really isn’t a problem, though, as you can request they replace the swiss with cheddar or really pack on the calories snd have the cheddar ADDED to the swiss! It IS my favorite omelette in the entire world! If you want to eat a little lighter and have their Cobb salad, don’t be fooled into thinking your going to be eating a lot less calories than the omelette! Their Cobb has everything a Cobb should have and more– turkey, avocado, ham, bacon, boiled eggs, tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese, and even lettuce! Add a few more calories with blue cheese dressing and feel totally satiated!(You’ll want to dust off that gym membership & spend a few hours working of this delicious salad!!). Milton almost always gets the«downtown club.» Downtown, uptown, it doesn’t seem to matter because he always seems satisfied and brings home leftovers. So, why not 5 stars, you ask? Two things, really. The service can vary quite a bit. Some of the wait staff have been excellent, while others prefer to socialize with their peers. Still, not a deal breaker if you want a great omelette or Cobb salad. You just might not get that third refill of coffee you would love! The second reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is the Mediterranean or Greek salad. I am a Greek salad aficionado and I have to say theirs IS the absolute worst I have ever had!!! The vinegarette they serve with it makes it even worse! I would suggest their cook be sent to Athens or at least Athenian Grill in Suisun to learn how to make a Greek salad!!! You don’t need grilled eggplant! Yuck! The olives should be Kalamata Greek olives, not sliced black olives from a can! Just awful. Horrific, really. So bad, I really considered deducting TWO stars. Stick with the omelette or the Cobb or the club & you’ll be fine.

We used too love this place, great breakfasts, but the last time we ate there, my daughter felt ill. She’d ordered«Chicken Marsala», & when it came, it looked kind of «off». She took a bite & grimaced, she said it tasted undercooked. She asked me to try it, so I took a really tiny bite, & there was uncooked flour covering the bottom of the chicken! I asked the waitress to please bring her something else, & she got defensive & wanted to know what was wrong. We told her, & she said, «A lot of people have been saying that, but it’s the way it’s made here». Wouldn’t the comments from so many people kind of give them the hint that they’re not preparing it correctly?(The chicken was raw inside as well). My daughter had eaten her salad waiting for the chicken main dish, & they had the nerve to charge us for the salad!(She decided not to order anything else for dinner). They lost out business!

I love the Cup. Always good for breakfast and always great service. The chicken fried steak is my favorite. But I like it all.

Awwww, thiS is a totally old school diner. We went there EARLY Sunday morning and it was packed. If you want eggs, coffee, toast and pleasant service, go here. Smiles all around. We felt it was a good value and we got pretty much what we went for which was a consistent breakfast and nice staff. Stop on by and sit a spell.

I’ve spent the afternoon racing to the toilet. Knew this morning when my breakfast didn’t taste right and 2 of my 6 breakfast companions had sent all or part of their meal back to the kitchen that I should have sent mine back too. But… We had a waitress who was really working hard and kept us in hot coffee and tea and I felt sorry for her. Mistake. One friends bacon was cooked black and hard as a rock. Ones scrambled eggs came dead cold. One, who didn’t return her food, only ate half, commenting that the eggs tasted rewarmed. My spinach, ground beef, mushroom and egg scramble came with uncooked mushrooms, random pieces of potato(?), and ground beef that tasted like it was several days old. Oh, and it was cold. I rarely give negative reviews, but today is the day. Won’t be back.

Took a friend from out of town here for dinner this past Saturday night, mostly because I knew they had a bar and a menu with some variety. We both ordered on tap beer(came nice and cold!); my friend had the buffalo chicken sandwich and I had the philly steak sandwich. Food came out fast, tasted fresh and was really good! Our server, Eddie, was awesome. It seemed like he was the only server working(it was after 9), and he was running around like crazy taking care of everyone, but he had a great attitude and was super efficient. I had come here with my family once before, shortly after moving to town, and we had a great experience then too and loved the food. This will definitely be a go-to for us.

Good food, but can be extremely crowded during lunchtime. Three dollars for a cup of coffee is a bit extreme. This isn’t after all, Starbucks. Nice menu. Please, please, PLEASE tell your servers NOT to wear perfume to work. It kind of spoils the appetite.

The service cannot be beat anywhere in Vallejo. This busy Easter morning was probably about our 10th time eating here for weekend brunch(always). From quick greet and seat(even with a full bar and lobby) we were met quickly at he table by a funny and PERFECT server, Michelle. She was polite and quick to answer a question for me from the kitchen(Any grits left? …Yes!) and take our order. Full drinks, a check back after food delivery, dishes bussed when finished and the check dropped, swiped, and delivered back to our table in five minutes after our meal. While all the menu items we have had are always great, some are better than others. Feel free to customize, they’re actually sweet about it and it comes out perfect! Hint: The Portabello Veggie Sandwich is amazing, especially if you ask for the spinach and red onion topping to be sautéed.

This place is on my way to work. I really want to like and eat here daily. Today’s the first time I’ve been here in a year. I was hoping the waitresses in the morning would be more polite and friendly than my last experience. They were not. They all stand together and talk amongst themselves. I doubt they are tipping each other, so maybe it would make more sense to tend to your customers? Lol If they don’t want to work there, they should just quit and find another job. Maybe I’ll try again next year Imagine the money they are sending to other restaurant due to unfriendly servers.

Not impressed at all!!! We went for lunch on a Saturday. Our party of 6 was sat in some weird booth, tucked in a hallway. It was a very awkward place for a table. My husband ordered a steak sandwich… the steak was half the size of the bread(think fillet minion size portion on a half a loaf of French bread) and the bread was cold like they just pulled it out of the fridge and threw it on his plate. I ordered a burger, cooked medium. My buger patty was crunchy… the cook torched the crap out of it. Our service was mediocre at best. I doubt that we will be back to give them another chance.

I’m not sure how this amazing place got only 3.5 stars. Tonite, my very first visit was SUPER pleasant and food were great too! I went in around 8pm. The male hostess took us in and placed us at a good spacious table. Then comes the fantastic park, the waitress(her name is Jumana?) She followed up with a good span of timing within each follow up. Took our order for two without needing to write it down. She is super courteous. So, service was superb already. Now let’s see if the food is as good. Place is family owned, bathroom is really clean and well taken care of. Here comes the food. I ordered the prime rib medium rare with bake potato and comes with a soup. My friend ordered Jambalaya with house salad and ranch dressing on the side. Waitress also asked if we wanted bread. Comes the bread that’s hot and freshly soft(trust me, not all places serve bread that’s warm and soft like this place). Prime Rib — I can taste how tender and juicy the meat really is. 17.99, great price! Even OUTBACK charging 26.99 can’t beat that 17.99 quality! Just cooked to perfection! I’m glad I read other reviews and attracted me to this place that serves great quality prime rib that’s affordable. Jambalaya — shrimp was crisp crunch fresh. My friend was very satisfied with what she ordered. Chicken used is white meat which is given to be on the drier side, that’s acceptable too. The amount of ingredients was ample. Not too spicy but yet still has a kick to it. Good dish as well. Overall, great service and wonderful food! I will definitely come back to try there desserts as I got too full to try this time.

I actually don’t know how the food was because I was ignored by no less than THREE waitresses when I came in. I moved sections after being ignored by the first one because she rushed to help a couple who came in after me and didn’t bother to ask me anything or even speak. In the next section where I sat, I saw two waitresses having a discussion about who was going to serve me, but apparently they decided, no one. It was only after I got on the phone with a friend and started explaining what was going on, that someone FINALLY decided to take my order. Not less than three minutes later, the two waitresses who apparently decided they weren’t interested in serving me, hurried to serve some elderly woman the moment she sat down. Completely disgusted, I cancelled my order before it was done and left the establishment after speaking to the mananger(or the person who claimed to be the manager) to explain the situation. The food MAY be good, but the service is trash and I WON’T be returning. That was the most shameful service I’ve EVER encountered in a restaurant.

Seems like a nice place to go for a quiet dinner. My boyfriend got the mushroom burger, he thought the burger tasted a bit bland, we both enjoyed the mozzarella cheese sticks, I got the chicken parmigiana, I loved it, came out hot & fresh. Wish we got the name of our waitress, she was really sweet.

We decided to go to lunch on our day off. I didn’t think we could go wrong in a traditional brunch/lunch spot. Sadly I was wrong. We both ordered sandwiches. My love ordered the prime rib sandwich and I ordered the turkey supreme. Our food came out and looked pretty good. I bit into my sandwich and dryness welcomed me. My love ate a couple bites of his sandwich and instantly looked for the waitress as he suspected he was served roast beef. The waitress came over and assured him it was prime rib and stated that they cut it in the same manner as the roast beef. He definitely states that it looked and tasted otherwise. The bread on my sandwich was so tough, it tasted a bit stall. Oh yeah and there were no topping on the sandwich at all. Service was good, our waitress was sweet and attentive. In regard to food, let’s just say we’ll never be back. I feel cheated. FYI they have happy hour from 7 am — 10 am for night workers.

I’ve passed Buttercup many times, but I never stopped because I always thought that the somewhat dingy outside was telling of what the food would be like. Wrong! I tried them out for the first time and they really exceeded my expectations. They have a ton of great and healthy vegetarian options(veggie chili, vegetable sandwich, avocado melt, veggie burger) that automatically come with a side of fruit instead of french fries or salad. Usually you have to pay at least $ 2 extra for a side of fruit! I highly recommend the avocado melt– very affordable at $ 8.99 and not to mention the delish free fruit on the side. I haven’t tried any of their desserts, but they have a lovely-looking selection that I’m excited to try. Bread pudding, brownie, pies, yum! Key take-aways– affordable, large menu with healthy options, can please a wide variety of tastes. It looks like they have a great breakfast menu– I will be back.

This is my go-to breakfast spot in Vallejo. I always order some version of a veggie omelette, and they always make it the way that I request. I usually sub sliced tomatoes for the side of potatoes. :) I like the omelettes here much better than Joy of Eating and Black Bear Diner. As far as desserts go, I’ve only tried the blueberry streusel. It’s pretty good.

Was craving a place that serves Chicken & Waffles, and has outdoor seating. Good Day Café was crowded so I happened to find Butter Cup nearby. I was quickly seated and Trisha came quickly to ask what I wanted to drink. Chicken & Waffles weren’t listed on either the bfast or main menus so I asked. «Sure!» she said and asked if I wanted a breast, 2 wings, or breast/wing/thigh. It took a bit for my meal to arrive; the kitchen must have been very busy. It was worth the wait as the Belgium waffle was light and airy. The chicken was hit and very moist. It had some kind of battered crust which was different from what I’m used to. Value at $ 12.99 is a bargain!
