ITCLOSED A FEWMONTHSAGO. They seemed to be doing a fair amount of business here and it was nice to have the variety of interesting things we always would find here [I used to stop in the original Cost Plus in SF in the early 70s when I lived in Monterey and visited SF, so it seemed kinda homey to me]. BUT. They are gone. How can you give a place a decent rating when they cut and RUN?! Darn it. It isn’t the end of the world nor was the the best of anything but I miss it. JR

Thank goodness they have one here. World Market is always a nice place to get some international items, good wines and unique but expensive furniture and decorations. There’s a nice variety of kitchen items, snacks from all over the world, good teas and other hard to find food items. Plus, with Linens N Things being gone now, it was the only place I could find a crab cracking set complete with forks. I’m just really sad upon hearing that their closing, is this true? :(

Move quickly to get the last deals here, because they’ve announced this location is closing for good soon.

I love this store. I always hit it up for some Christmas goodies and stocking stuffers. They had some really good deals on Christmas stuff 50% off. I also love the wine selection. You can get some pretty good stuff for $ 10 a bottle. I also love that they carry Cris as in Cristalino, ha! They also have a decent selection of weird chocolates from around the world. The folks that work there are very friendly and helpful. Sadly I left my umbrella behind and called them and the girl that answered was super nice, she went to look for it and everything but it wasn’t found. :(

I only go here about once a year. But only because nearly every darn thing is so tempting for me to buy! I went today to pick up some last minute candles and treats to add to my BFF’s birthday gift. They are pricey but you can find some good deals too. They even had some BOGO deals today! Oh, and guess what else I found today? You can buy a box and make your own Café Du Monde Beignets here! Plus, all of the employees were very nice. Well, except for the one that was bytching to another co-worker about a co-worker that wasnt there today. :-|

Some nights you just wanna take yourself on a date… yanno, treat yourself ‘reaal-special-like’. Items necessary for the self-woo are easily found here. 1. Boozy stuff = an entire back corner of the store devoted to hard to find beers, and a variety of wines ranging in cost from $ 7 — 30. 2. Sweet stuff = pleanty of self-aphrodesiacs. An entire isle devoted to chocolates(try the dark chocolate sprinkled with cayanne pepper flakes… mmm) and licorice. 3. Sparkley things = original looking jewelery, scarves, and bracelets that make ya look reaaal purrdy. 4. Other crap = art to make your house look neat-o, funky lights, bath products, and cooking supplies can all aide in the self-date atmosphere… How can you deny a store that makes ya wanna just woo the crap outta yourself?

Who can hate Cost Plus? You can buy exotic foods from distant lands, cheap yet very good quality wines, either domestic or foreign, and funky decorations and furniture. I rarely come to Cost Plus to buy something I need, but I often come here and leave with stuff I want!

I used to sit at the foot of the stairs watching Pru play piano. I would be on the 2nd to the last step, Taiko perched on the last step. Pru is wailin’ on Stevie Wonder’s Ribbon in the Sky on the baby grand. And all was right with the world, except my ass was starting to hurt and the concert experience at the foot of the stairs was starting to wear thin. For months, we searched for furniture. It had to be the right size, right price and had to meet my sense of aesthetics and Pru’s need for functionality. Fruitless. Veto, after veto, after veto led to more months of me and the dog chillin’ on our steps. I was like Eponine with my chin rested on folded hands. If Eponine had a dog and a big house in the suburbs. Then an afternoon with Mur, a good friend and lover of all things pretty, accompanies me – idiot savant when it comes to style – to Cost Plus. We pick out the lovely and reasonably priced Bruno leather couch with the matching Bruno recliner and the Canton library to house the volumes of sheet music amassed by Pru. So Mur voted yes, nary an argument from Pru, and our living room is a balance of form and function and ample seating for me and – well, it’s leather, so the dog stays on the bottom step. Thank you Cost Plus!
