My mom wanted a fish dinner so she got out a coupon ad and off to LJS we went. Place is very clean and that was impressive. Gal barely spoke English that too the order and the manager had to help her figure out how to run the register due to our coupons. It was my first time there but Mom loved the ones in South Carolina where she is from. We both ordered fish and it was so thin in side the breading that by the time I peeled back all the bread there was nothing left. Frys were just so-so and the hush puppies had no corn meal. Onions rings were actually hard… like a fried rock. Sad that the food doesn’t keep up with the staff and facility.

The food was really good, the person I got was really nice. I ordered the #1 fish and shrimp platter. That must have been the best onion rings that I had in a really long time. It had six shrimps and two fish. Super yummy!

I still like Long Johns but just not this particular one. The service was extremely slow like 15 min slow. So my order and another order got called mine was taken by another customer. So I waited another 15 min for my order. And the plated food in the to-go box was not very appealing to look at.

Avoid this location at all costs. Worst service anywhere, long wait for food, if you can get them to take your order. Staff and Managers are not pleasant at all.

ALWAYS a 15 – 20 minute wait for food and rarely does the menu contain all items displayed.

This place was about a 30 minute drive, to start… Then, at soon as we walk in, the bad experiences start. There is a line, and everyone waiting for their food and in the line is frustrated with the slowness and lack of training of the staff. It took 3 people, 15 min., just to cancel/change 1 order. They also didn’t seem to have much respect or consideration for each other, when one would ask the other for help. The food I thought was way over priced… for what they give you. Mc Donalds and Taco Bell, are better than this… ANYDAY!!! And they are in my opinion, 2 of the worse places to eat. The store was actually a Long Johns and a KFC and it seemed that both were cooked in the same grease, and in the same batter; so there was no distinction in the flavor. The mash potatoes were really, really, super mushy, unlike i have ever had at just a regular KFC, The fish had more bread then fish, and the hush puppies were like no other I have ever had… and that is not a compliment! They were so fluffy, huge and greasy! Hush puppies should be a dense like, well seasoned consistency; but these had none of that… they were like greasy, flavorless air balls. I went out of my way to take my Son who wanted to go… but next time I will just go to my local, «You Buy, We Fry»! OH…and they had the worse«tarter sauce» and hot sauce, I have ever had as well. I do not usually write reviews, but it was just bad enough for me to take the time to write this one!!):

They are ok! Some of the fish is way to salty tho! They are very expensive and I’ve had way better fish… and service!

I have a friend who had visit me from out of town. We were driving by this Long John Silver and we decided to stop and purchase a couple of meals. So we walked into this establishment and at no time did the workers behind the counter acknowledge us as a customer, even though we were the NEXT customers in line. As a matter of fact the persons behind the counter they were both females, just disappeared in the back room and never came back out. We both are African American male between the ages of 57 to 66 years of age. So we are so keen and sharp to the fact that chronic blatant racial discrimination and prejudice do continues to flourish in full bloom in this society. Even though we had a pocket full of money, we both looked at each other and said; «Let us get the Fu_k out of here». We debated about this situation after we left that place. That’s why I put this on Unilocal. To see what you think? I do not know if it was a racial discrimination situation or not. Or was it just that the workers whom are females, were so busy that they could not welcome us to this establishment, or even give us eye contact? Hey, all we needed was a couple precious second to be acknowledged. My friend and I will never know if it was racially motivated, because again we got the fu_k out. All they had to do is stop look at us and say; «Welcome to Long John Silver, and I will be right with you». Or is it just a simple case of this just an extremely unprofessional poor customer service. I will never know. Also read Keya l. date was 3÷1÷2014 review. I am not alone.

The last time I’ve eaten at LJS has been years ago. When I say years, it has been over 10 years at the minimum. No joke! I’ve never spotted LJS in the Bay Area anywhere until now. Although the food is greasy, sometimes turning to the dark side to fried foods hits the spot. The fried fish fillets, shrimps, and hush puppies are tasty as hell. It’s a good example of an unhealthy diet, but eat like no tomorrow is my advice! I’m not sure what determines LJS on picking a location, but I’ve noticed that they are never located in a preferred neighborhood. Hopefully more locations will surface in the future.

We have been eating here since the place was built, always been great until tonight. We only got ½ of our order, overcharged on our order, order that was served was cold, had to ask for multiple items like ketchup, sweetner, malt vinegar, and the dessert we ordered THREETIMESEACH! Never an apology, when I pointed out I was overcharged, the manager on duty said«no you weren’t, sorry you feel that way» close as she could muster I guess. When we pulled up, I wondered why the place was empty at dinner time. Now I know, the staff acted like it was an inconvenience for us to be there and spend our money. I hope the owner reads this and hires some people that want to keep a job and keep the long time customers like us.

This restaurant has been a family favorite since the day it was built. The food was always good and you could tell that the oil was changed regularly and the staff was always friendly. Starting last summer, things went down hill. Now it’s a hit and a miss(mostly a miss). You either don’t get your entire order in the drive through or you get staff that just seems like they would rather be somewhere else when you dine in. The food you do get is not the same. You taste more batter than fish/chicken. While the food is pricey for fast food, it used to be worth it. Not anymore. My parents(who are now in their late 70’s and 80’s) used to make it a regular trip to get fish. Now, they won’t go.

ehh, my boyfriend is a big fan of Long John… i think its over priced for a fast food. Tried out a few items on the menu. the lobster bites, not as great as word of mouth said. the hush puppies are pretty good. Love them. It’s pretty empty everytime we come by. when we dine here i love leaving to have my boyfriend ringing the bell haha

I went here on my lunch break with a few co-workers. I lost a bet and had to buy lunch… so since I had to pay, it was my pick. I hadn’t been to a LJS in years… so I figured we’d get try this place. We all got the lobster platter, and it was a very generous portion of food. Not too greasy, friendly service, and a clean restaurant. Overall a good experience for this kind of establishment. Now if they just had one closer to Concord, I’d be there like once a week.

Sorry to say the food preparation quality is mixed. I love the scampi platter but too often the shrimp are overcooked. Nice variety. Can be a little bit expensive if you get a platter, a side or dessert, and drink.

Listen. 5 stars 5 stars for: Fast food, drive-thru, cheap, healthy choices. Awesome. I wish we had LJS in Oakland! I’d go there eating guilt-free and healthy. What I really like is the Grilled salmon platter that is under 350 calories if you just get the veggies and rice! And cheap! Under $ 5!!! You can’t get that anywhere else!(Granted small fishy) Only thing I don’t like is the hot, grease-smell in the restaurant, but hey what do you expect!
