My homestyle café truly fulfills its name by making you feel like you’re right at home. Adorable atmosphere and great service. Officially a customer for life!

We stopped in after a festival and had the 4-way BBQ plate, fries and chicken and waffle– all of which was excellent and a great price, the meat is fall off the bone tender and perfectly cooked, great flavor, sauce was a perfect match to the seasoning/smoking of the meat too. Vastly superior to Kinders in walnut creek and better beef ribs than Everett and Jones in Oakland(although I do prefer the links at E&Js) great service from a really kind woman who seemed very invested in us enjoying our experience too, Obama should check this place out on his next bay area tour too– they are definitely fans

You walk in and you are greeted warmly and provided with the list daily specials and shown a list of favorites suggested by longtime locals including the infamous«Obama burger». I opted for the BBQ special which included corn bread, rubs, chicken, mac & greens and was delicious! My husband opted for the fried cod fish and he claims it will be his forever«to go» place whenever he wants fried fish. Next the– I’ll try the chicken & waffles or give the«Obama burger» a shot provided I can take home leftovers. Great spot and will surely put Vallejo on the culinary map.

What a great gem hidden in Vallejo. The food was delicious(I had the cheeseburger, garlic fries). What really was great was the friendliness of the family that runs it. Whether they’re truly family our not I don’t know but that was the feeling of the place. Constantly asked if we needed anything. You can tell they’re well loved based on the number of customers they knew by name. Wish they were nearby, but glad they’re not because we’d be here all the time.

Miss Yvonne, is the reason for serving everything on styrofoam or plastic because there is no dishwasher on site? I can’t give your establishment my business knowing that every single plate and container, as well as all of the plastic forks, etc are going to be thrown away after every meal. This is terrible, I’m sorry. I wish that there was a way you could at least offer reusable metal silverware because I can’t give my business to a restaurant that creates so much waste.

HIDENGEM!!! Such a great experience. Not only was the food DELISH!!! The service was very pleasant. Very sweet and witty! Felt like a visit at Aunties house… LOL I had a burger and fries and it was at the top of the list. I saw the chicken and waffles and it looked like what I will be trying the next visit because I will definitely be back!!! The place is small so if you feel you need more space. Get your food to go. Very reasonable pricing.

True authentic homes style my kinda of café I was wanting to indulge into a good tasting home cooked burger which far exceeded my expectations don’t be swayed or distracted by the area old part town of Vallejo looks sort of ghost town yet this spot brings life to this area I started on this burger and before I new it I was down to the fingers super good fresh and tasty just right! My new spot!

The burgers here are the best, like the Obama burger, I also like the specials she has here. I think I had smothered pork chops once, Yum! and you will love the peach cobbler!

Stopped in for lunch today(Wednesday) had the special meatloaf Food was decent and service friendly probably would have given 4 stars if served with real silverware and on a plate. If you are going to serve on paper plates please don’t buy the cheapest ones. There is silverware at restaurant supply for .20 $ each decent place could be better with a little polish

Modest café run by two hard-working sisters. Friendly. They call it «My Homestyle Café» and that is an adequate description. Reminds me of Deacon Burton’s in Atlanta., but on a smaller scale. The only complaint I have about the place is the plastic-ware the meals are served on and the sporks and/or plastic knives/forks. They need to either find a different supplier and get some that are sturdier, or get some proper utensils. I know, that would require a dishwasher, but it would make the food easier to eat and add a little touch of class. Honestly the food is tasty. This is a humble establishment. Decent. Inexpensive. Friendly staff. I’ll bring my own utensils next time. LOL.

This is truly a gem of a spot in Vallejo! GREAT food, GREAT and sincere down home hospitality. I dropped in today for breakfast after missing my ferry. Needed a spot to telecommute and to get a good bite of food. The GRITS were buttery and creamy — perfection! You’ve got to try it!

I loved the Philly Cheesesteak! Can’t wait to try other things. A little small, but the restaurant is clean and quant. I LOVE the President Obama nods all over the walls and windows.

When the 2 nice ladies that work here smile at you and call you«Honey-baby» … You know you’re gonna be eating well. I love this shrine to Obama and M.J. there are pictures of both men in here all over the walls. The ladies love Barack and Michael. But the reason I love it here… The reason I come here… Is the down home, straight from the angels, mouth watering, knee slapping, moan while chewing, lip smacking, god praising, jazz hands shaking, earth quaking, appetite shattering, stupendous uttering B.B.Q !!!

Idiots with stacks of 100s on table… Really really stupid! There dumbasses then there are you two! I would imagine your huge rims are worth twice as your«classics»!! I added stars so this does not reflect the restaurant status! P. S. Clueless

My Homestyle Café drew my attention shouting«best peach cobbler in town» on the window pane. menu: breakfast, burgers, hot dogs, bbq, pies, baked goods, fried wings/chicken, etc. eats: peach cobbler pie, slice(3.5) –a few cling peaches from can, rest is heavenly crust. –pie not randomly chosen by cashier, whole tray pulled out and i was asked to choose one OMG! never experienced this before. –peach cobbler fab cuz crust deliz. not oversugared, taste just right. peach the usual bland without sugar added. crumbs: –was informed immediately when i entered i will be serviced soon. nice touch, was being overwhelmed by choices i didn’t know they offered. bbq on one board, dogs, burgers, etc. on another board. –thought oaktown had the best peach cobbler. WRONG! My Homestyle Café does. right taste without all that sugar. server so sweet! reminded me of Waffle lady in bayview, san francisco, both very sweet and service oriented proprietors… –a revisit possible. –homestyle charm in having a dysfuctional menu… i’m just stubborn, single-minded…

What a great little place. The gals here were so friendly and talkative. They were just a lot of fun. Burgers were good and fries spot on. Shoulda got the garlic fries, maybe next time. We were full but had to try the peach cobbler. Took a piece to go. I hear they serve BBQ Friday and Saturdays. I am definately going back for that. This place isn’t fancy at all but sometimes the best food comes from places like this. Support this local business. You won’t be disappointed.

I got the Philly Cheese Steak and Garlic Fries… mmmmm…food is delicious, prices are great, and the people working here are awesome. I walked in told her it was my first time and she said«Welcome home!» Haha. I am from the Midwest and little mom and pop shops like this are all over the place. But since I have been in California I haven’t for the life of me found a quality lil diner, until now. I will most definitely be returning. On a side note bring cash. It’ll be easier. They do take debit. I think there’s a fee tho.

Short Eval: EXCELLENT soul food Wednesday– REAL, properly made collard greens, Mac & cheese and other sides. I will be back to try the sandwiches and update the review. Much longer version: Note to «soul food» restaurants in the Bay Area that I’ve visited … Go here and learn how to make collard greens!!! Ham hock and enough hot sauce /spice to give them great flavor but not overly hot. I lived in Georgia for years before moving here and I’ve missed the southern cooking, especially the greens– except when I make them myself. They take time and patience– it starts with the collard leaf… Thank you My Home style Café!!! I followed the advice of other diners that suggested I order before they run out especially on soul food Wednesday’s. I called and the owner made sure I had a meal when I went to pick it up at 230pm. She’s a sweet woman and not sure what the complaints were about. She was sweet to me– greeted me as soon as I walked in even though she was also talking with other customers, made sure my butter was in another bag so it wouldn’t melt next to the hot food, thanked me for calling ahead, etc. She suggested the 7 up cake and I knew I wanted the peach cobbler. Both amazing!!! I didn’t realize anyone knew what 7 up cake was here– basically a yummy, moist lemony pound cake. Other parts of the meal: meatloaf and real gravy with mashed potatoes(all good and I’m not a gravy kind of guy), candied yams(yum!) and homemade Mac and cheese– real Mac and cheese… REAL. Try it out. Can’t wait to try the fried buttermilk chicken sandwich!!! I’ll update the review.
