the food is exceptional, I had the veal special. the best part was the dessert. I had zaboligni with strawberry. the espresso was presented with a glass of sambuco that had coffee beans in it. that is worth an extra star.

I love this restaurant! It is so cozy and hidden, you wouldn’t really give it a second glance. But the waiters are really attentive and know their customers. We usually come here often, and they know us. Amazing food and dessert. I ordered the Filet Mignon with a side of mash potatoes. By far one of the best restaurants in Valley Stream! And I’ve been to plenty around the area.

We were looking for a decent Italian restaurant near to my house and were pleasantly surprised when we walked Into this establishment. It is located in a commercial area. The décor is well done old school Italian with nice linens and music by the rat pack in the background. The menu had standard Italian specialties with reasonably priced entrees for the type of venue. Our waiter seemed very distracted and involved with observing the running of the place, and little eye contact was made while reciting the specials. Our group of four all ordered from the specials menu and unfortunately we were not told and did not ask the prices of the specials. We mistakenly assumed that the specials would be within the range of similar items on the menu. The food was very good but not good enough to be completely shocked at its cost when we obtained our check. If I would have known a veal chop was 55 dollars I certainly would not have ordered it. Also we discovered that the one waiter in the place was probably the owner and the food is served and cleared by busboys. This lends the question: if your waiter is the owner will the busboys get the gratuity? I am not sure of the etiquette of this situation and it made me uncomfortable.

Definitely an upscale and classy Italian restaurant. I actually felt like we were sitting in a restaurant in Italy. Service was impeccable, atmosphere was cozy and intimate, and the food was delicious! Pasta tasted homemade and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. You get olives, cheese, bread and olive oil as soon as you sit down. Everything is ala carte, menu is a little pricey, but you’re getting quality. Check out the menu online, they have a lot of items you don’t see at a typical Italian restaurant. A great variety of food! No pizza here! I would highly recommend this for a foodie.

Great Italian restaurant in this area! Their lobster bisque and minestrone soup are to die for! We ordered the lobster fettucine special(they make their own fettucine) and the filet mignon. Both were phenomenal and they gave such huge portions. Worth the money. Couldn’t leave the restaurant without dessert so we ordered the Tiramisu, which was also very delicious. Very fast service and friendly waiters. Will come back again!

A quaint Italian restaurant that never disappoints. Formerly from the nearby Branzino restaurant, the chef and staff have brought their culinary talents to a new location. I’ve had dishes ranging from chicken to gnocchi to steak and you can’t go wrong. Those joining me rave about the seafood and specials. If they don’t have something exactly how you like it on the menu, just ask and they will make it the way you want. Prior to the main course, they provide breads, cheese, olives, and pepperoni. Get 1 or 2 salads as appetizers — their fruit is always fresh and delicious.

Amazing! If Good food is an art, this place is Picasso. Took my mom here for Mother’s Day she loved it. And I was pleasantly taken aback by the freshness and quality of the food served at this fine dinning establishment. Best Italian restaurant in the area. Homemade food, everything is made from scratch, this place left me smiling and satisfied.

Excellent food, even better service. From the baked clams and mushroom/shrimp soup to the tartufo dessert, everything was fabulous. We have been here several times and it’s very consistent. Expect to pay, but well worth it!

The food is simply amazing. We started our meal with several apps including the shrimp with gorgonzola and lobster salad. Both had high quality seafood and was super tasty. For entrees we had the skirt steak(tender, juicy and perfectly cooked), homemade spinach pasta with lobster and shrimp(fresh and great flavor), osso bucco(best ever) and chicken with asparagus and mushroom gravy(melted in my mouth). This is truly a 4 star dining experience. Bar was cozy and atmosphere was great.

We had a good dinner here! The salads are phoneminal. The avocado salad was fresh and refreshing. That was a special I believe, but worth trying if you are there and they have it. Also, their special caprese salad was delicious. I enjoyed my pasta with shrimp. The seafood risotto is also recommended. The reason this review is a 4 star rather than a 5 star is because of the veal chop. The veal chop was a HUGE slab of meat, but it wasn’t cooked. When the person who ordered the veal tried to send it back, they gave her a hard time. She was eventually able to order something new, but by the time it was done cooking, everyone was done eating. Additionally, the spinach and spaghetti squash are the best sides to order. The spinach is garlically, and cooked to perfection! The spaghetti squash is creamy and cheesy. Yumm Yumm!

Go like La Bistecca’s Facebook Page! Get a look at the menus. Also, you might want to get a look at the several pictures of delicious dishes. Valentine’s Day is coming up and their special menu is up on their Facebook page. It looks great! Definitely going to make a reservation ASAP, and I suggest you do too!

I go at least twice a month. If I had the time I would go more often. Probably my favorite restaurant on Long Island. Staff is incredibly friendly and professional. Well versed on the menu as well as the wine list. The menu is well priced for the quality and it is always a great meal. Last night I had the half duck which is one of my favorite meals. No matter where I go I usually get duck if it is on the menu. This duck was crisp and moist. Great flavor and presentation. The minestrone was flavorful and a huge portion. I have graduated from the menu and like to go to the chefs specials of the night. Always a nice selection of pasta, fish, poultry and red meat. Although a decent wine list it could use an upgrade. I look forward to the next dining experience here.

I live in the area, and have been to almost everywhere in a 20 mile radius. Have been to this restaurant before when it was another name, and liked it then as well. Went last night with my wife. I can honestly say that this is the best, fine dining restaurant for miles. From the valet parking to the waiters and staff, everything is well done We had Octopus appetizer, Linguine with White Clam Sauce(best I have ever had) and a Veal with Mushroom Dish, some drink and desert. Everything was outstanding. Prices reflect the quality, so be prepared for a nice bill, but if you want the best true dining option around, you can’t go wrong. Enjoy.

Living nearby, I thought this location was jinxed. Restaurants seemed to open and close in the blink of an eye. After eating at La Bistecca I hope it can break this curse. Rich, flavorful foods. A varied and interesting menu. The staff was knowledgeable about the cuisine and the wine list. The price is slightly above average for Long Island Italian food, but so is the quality and the experience. Very much a Manhattan Italian joint, hidden on Rockaway Ave. A really enjoyable meal, I would highly recommend them for your next special night out.

Don’t pass by this gem in Valley Stream! Though you probably will drive by in many times and wonder if it’s any good, I’ll spare the mystery and let you know that it’s excellent. VS is my hometown and I had yet to find a great Italian restaurant until I went to La Bistecca following my parents’ recommendation. The restaurant is cozy, but not as small as it looks from the outside. There are maybe 20 tables in a dark, intimate setting. It’s romantic, but also good for small groups as well. Their grilled calamari is perfectly prepared and portions are abundant. Definitely make a reservation in advance, since this place fills up fast on the weekend. Glad to have a wonderful Italian restaurant when I visit my hometown — I even come in from Manhattan, so that speaks volumes for the quality!
